What will everyone say about Capers, the Defense, guys not belonging in the NFL, Past failures etc etc. if we win the Super Bowl?

Certainly depends upon how they won it, but I'd probably come in with something like 'after 5 frustrating, sometimes humiliating years, I'm thrilled that they finally got there stuff together'. :)

Troy Aikman is certainly a popular guy in Cowboys country, but apparently he and Fox broadcast partner Joe Buck aren't as well loved out in Green Bay. As of noon Wednesday, more than 16,000 people have signed a Change.org petition seeking to ban the Aikman-Buck duo from calling Packers games from the booth. The petition, started Monday by Andrew Dorff of Brookfield, Wis., is titled "Get Troy Aikman and Joe Buck banned from announcing Green Bay Packer's [sic] games" "This is a petition to get Joe Buck and Troy Aikman banned from announcing/commentating on the Green Bay Packers," according to the petition's page. "On behalf of the Green Bay Packers fans across the world, we would like action taken ...

I'm okay with Troy. Like his insight. A lot of Cowboy fans don't like him because he's not a homer, but he shouldn't be. He's a broadcaster so it's his job to be that way. I'll admit I'm not a fan of his broadcast partner Buck. Fortunately going to the game I won't have to listen to him.

I've never understood why Packer fans hate these two so much. I actually enjoy their style and have never detected biased commentary.
I'm with you..

This came up a while back, and people were asked to point out specific words, statements that made them Packer haters.
Nothing really came of that

Look, I actually like the packers as well, but sometimes fans that aren't paying attention to the other teams miss things. All I'm saying is that the Cowboys picked it WAY up on defense in December and really started clicking. We all know the NFL is about matchups, and from my perspective The Cows are not a great matchup for the Pack. I personally believe that the Boys were playing better D than the Giants in or around December and the stats prove it overall. Less points allowed, more sacks, interceptions, ETC.. The cows have also found ways to get pressure with three lineman and going into a dime... I believe this will give rogers fits.. We will see what happens and I'm ready. If I'm being honest, I believe some of you are overrating the cowboys offense and underrating their D.

Last I looked, the Cowboys' defensive secondary couldn't hold a candle to the Giants' DBs, and the Packers put up a whole lotta points against them. Cowboys defense is good against the run, but the Packers beat teams through the air. In order for the Cowboys defense to be effective they'd either have to rent the Giants' corners and safeties, or they'd have to get to Rodgers with their front 4 and well-timed blitzes. Even if they are somewhat effective at the latter I would be stunned if they were able to do it consistently.

Biggest thing will be the Packers defensive front 7 vs. the Dallas OL. The Packers will have to play better than they did against the Giants, because the Dallas OL is so much better.

Not having Nelson is going to make things much easier on the Cowboys secondary. He is getting replaced with Geronimo, an undated free agent with pedestrian speed but with nice route running ability. Historically, Rodgers numbers plummet without a very good wide out like Nelson or Jennings. While that didn't happen in the second half of last week's game, that performance remains an abberation when viewing a much larger body of work without a true wide out on the field. Unless the Packers can run the ball effectively they will have a very hard time scoring and putting together sustained drves. The Packers special teams and defence have not scored a point all season. That will have to change this week to keep the game in reach. They are overdue.

As for Defense? Well Gunter looked like he had no business in the NFL. Hopefully he remembers that game as he was beaten badly for two touchdowns.

That game serves as evidence that Gunter should cover Bryant as he has troubles with faster and more agile receivers like Beasley and Butler.

The Packers still have sufficient receiving weapons in Adams, Cobb, Allison and Cook for the passing game to perform on a high level against the Cowboys.

Jeff Janis (quadricep), Jordy Nelson, Julius Peppers (not injury related), James Starks and JC Tretter didn´t practice yesterday. Quinten Rollins was a limited participant.

The Cowboys listed CB Morris Claiborne, DE Tyrone Crawford, LB Justin Durant, DE DeMarcus Lawrence, DT Terrell McClain, T Tyron Smith and DT Cedric Thornton as limited participants.

I think it has more to do with having a legit pass catching tight end than it does having a Jordy/Jennings.

I was going to post something similar after reading the article: http://www.packersnews.com/story/sp...k-martinez-ripkowski-survived-scare/96475646/

McCarthy said that Starks hasn't progressed and is nowhere close to getting on the field. I think I remember reading that he was sideswiped by a semi....must have been quite a wreck. Maybe we should all thank the truck driver for bringing us Ty Montgomery and Christine Michael?!? I'm joking!!

Tretter was on the game-day 46 last week. Interesting that he didn't practice yesterday.

I'm happiest to see Rollins as a limited participant. If anything, it's good to have depth. We can debate about an injured Rollins versus a healthy Hawkins, but depth is better than nothing.

I am hoping that Janis' quad injury doesn't limit him on special teams. He is due to break a return. At the least, he had a nice one against NY and one special teams play could make the difference in a shootout.

Returns aside, his punt coverage is outstanding.

I think the key to the Packers winning this game is they must stop the Dallas running game. Make Prescott beat you by throwing the ball. This is exactly what the Giants did in their two wins vs Dallas. This will force Prescott into making mistakes in the passing game. If GB can't stop the run, Dallas will be able to keep AR and the Packer's offense on the sideline, which I think will result in a long, ugly game for GB...

I think a healthy Cook will offset Nelson some. Not completely, but the cowboys struggle covering tight ends and having a fast, tall weapon in the middle of the field was something we missed last year on offense.

Plus, I think Adams and Cobb are playing much better. Add in a tall, talented route runner like Geronimo and I think we'll be ok.

Defensively, kind of bummed we don't have Pennel for this game. We need our big boys up front to control this run game.

It's going to be tough for sure.

Janis was back practicing today. Rollins was in pads and did more today than yesterday (potentially out of the protocol).

I've seen this written online too (Florio?) a few times. Obviously stopping the run is huge. However, I don't get the second part. People keeping saying that keeping Rodgers on the sideline via a sustained Dallas rushing attack will result in a loss. That makes zero sense. Teams trade possessions. It doesn't matter one bit how the other team achieves their score. Dallas could have a 12 minute TD drive each quarter, mostly rushing yards, and all we have to do is score on each of our possessions. So that's the real key. We can't start out flat. McCarthy can't have more brain farts like he admitted to early against New York. We need to value each possession, get points off of each one, and win the turnover battle.

The Packers don’t stand a chance

Green Bay is a really good team, but let’s not go crazy and outthink the room that they’re so hot, therefore they’re better than the Cowboys.

Let’s look at a few numbers to show just why the Cowboys are the wrong team for the Packers to be facing.

The difference in Team Efficiency, a metric used by footballoutsiders.com, shows that the gap between the Cowboys and the Packers is as large as it is between the Packers and the…

wait for it…

Cincinnati Bengals.

During their recent surge, the Packers haven’t faced ONE TEAM in the top half of the NFL in PPG. Meanwhile, I’m not sure if you’re aware of this or not, the Cowboys have the 5th best scoring offense in the NFL

How have the Packers done this year when facing teams with a Top 8 scoring offense? They’re 0-3. They also had losses to Top 15 offenses Washington and Tennessee.

(The folks at Bloggingtheboys.com did a nice job of illustrating this here if you’re a visual learner!!)

Meanwhile, when the Cowboys face a team with a potent offense, like Green Bay, Washington or Pittsburgh, they have won those games, and seemingly score at will at times during those contests.

It’s really not that hard to figure out. Football has never been about who is better this time of year, it’s never been about who the best QB is either. If it was, Marino and Peyton Manning would have 10 titles each.

Football this time of year is about matchups, and the teams that give the Cowboys problems are not the Packers or the Falcons of the world, it’s the Giants and their defense. Strength on strength.

There’s a reason the Cowboys hold a 66% chance of advancing based on the metrics. There’s a reason they are favored in Vegas. They are the better football team.

The quarterback can only do so much, and while Aaron Rodgers is terrific, he’s no better than Marino or Manning in their primes. Last time I checked, they never did it all alone, neither has Rodgers.

Vegas has already told us that the Cowboys are better by virtue of the point spread. Don’t outthink the room.

Match ups.. Strength on strength.

The boys Def is 5th in scoring? Packers strength is offense. So who wins that?

The 8 they faced? How many b4 the win streak?
