Agreed. Think about the mindset of a guy like Favre at that time in his life. You have way more than enough money to retire, you are battered, bruised and near the end of a really good career, one that has assured you of a spot in the Hall of Fame. You have a family and have dedicated most of your life to football. I can see why players waiver on hanging it up or not. I am sure it takes some motivation to keep yourself in shape in the offseason, knowing you have a long season ahead. I think had Favre played another 1-3 years in Green Bay, he may have hung up his cleats a Packer. However, the Packers trading them to the Jets and subsequently him being able to play with the Vikings, was just enough motivation to put retirement off a few more years.

Rodgers may have felt that way in the offseason last year. Felt disrespected, just came off an MVP Season, new GF that at the time he was in love with. I can see why he was contemplating retirement then and even though it sounds like Shailene is out of the picture, he has to still be on the fence with his decision.
He and Shailene are no longer engaged?

Hmmmm, I guess he's no MVP when it comes to hanging on to a woman.
Doesn't surprise me though.
I think he may have finally realized that he is incapable of balancing relationships with football. This off-season may be him debating what he wants more - a lady or a ball

I agree with everything you said here except Rodgers playing at this level for 5 more years. At 38 he still is playing great but after 40 a player's skills can escape him almost over night.

I mean I see no reason to believe Rodgers cant follow in the footsteps of Brady...ie get rid of the ball quickly and play at a high level til 45 if he wants. Will he want to is the question and id say probably not but id say 4 more years is a good estimate

Honestly I don’t see. I truly don’t think Rodgers himself would even want to deal with four more playoff losses before the SB

I have read something similar from posters here and a few in Social Media. Anyone jumping to this conclusion on Love at this point, is doing just that....jumping to a conclusion. Maybe he will develop, maybe he won't, but judging him after his first NFL start, with 3 days notice, against a good team, on the road, in the loudest stadium in the NFL, seems like an excuse to further bash a draft pick that many questioned in the first place. Same with the Lions game, he was playing with backups on offense, against the Lions starting defense.

I don't think MLF has to dumb down the playbook if Love is the new starter, but he should change it from one built around Rodgers strengths, to one built around Love's strengths.
I really don’t think Love is nearly as bad as some members claim. He might not grow into a HOF QB like Rodgers, but I could definitely see him growing into a mid tier starting QB. If given a good Defense and ST, then I think he’s capable of going playoff bound by 2024. That fits with us digging out if our cap hell.

The other part that I think will factor is the ability to form the Offense to his strengths. If Love gets a top 10 TE and top 15 type Slot receiver, that fixes much.

Also our OL was an injury disaster this season. I can’t remember the last season where we lost 4 of the 5 starting members by seasons end. Top it off with an underperforming Rookie 5th RG and it spells disaster for an inexperienced QB in his 1st start. Heck, Rodgers couldn’t even perform adequately in his first contest after 13 seasons. Yet we expect Love to outperform the leagues MVP day 1.

Any normal QB will have growing pains and that even goes for the #1 overall selection. Our FO knew that well before selecting Love that he would need an extra season as an inexperienced Junior from leas touted program. I don’t even count 2020 it was a lost year that didn’t even allow him play a preseason. 2021 was Loves Rookie season and they had zero intention of him playing any real, meaningful snaps. This fear of trying to write him off or even making long term prognostications based on 1.5 games in a Rookie season is just bordering on silliness.

You think he plays less than 4 more seasons?

I more making a joke at his consistent failings in postseason (helps me cope lol) but no if I were told I had to bet more or less than four season I’m going less for certain.

Haha right on...over under of 4...under would be the safe bet...over would be the risk and push is probably what would happen

Make it 3.5 and youd probably get pretty close to even money bet on each side. I just dont see him quitting when hes running an mvp streak of 4 or 5

Shailene had too many male friends. Young men and women can not be friends. Too many hormones. That is the reason they broke up.

I`m sure he is sitting at home rubbing his hands expecting them to stoke his ego and give in to everything he wants. I say it is like just ripping off the bandaid and move forward now.
Talk about having or not having “skin in the game” :whistling:

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but the kind of people Aaron's ex hangs out with are probably more into the "arts," than watching football on TV, or playing it. I can picture some of them actually saying; "Aaron... who?", when introduced.

I don't think that's the kind of crowd that can stoke the Rodgers ego well enough to keep him happy. He'd be more of a barbarian outside the inner circle. They'd laugh at him, and consider him a neanderthal.
