A coach shouldn't have to EXPLICITLY tell a player not to do something that is OBVIOUSLY a stupid decision.

What, should Mike McCarthy have to tell Rodgers on every play "Don't throw an interception." ??

I will gladly stand corrected if they happened to beat them.. but in all honesty I have a better chance of getting it in with my wife that night vs Green Bay winning ‍♂️
Ty threw away the game trying to be a hero. Why is he even still on the team? He hasn't been relevant since Jones and Williams have been on the team. A garbage descision...

Sure they do. From pee wee football on up the coach gives instruction, especially in key situations. Especially at that level where the assistant coaches and their assistants are paid bundles... and during a game that’s pretty much their primary function. Players are in the game, driven to take the ball and make something happen, especially professionals. It’s the coaches job to keep them focused on what needs to happen.

Yea he was trying to be a hero. He really thought he was going to do something. Stupid decision. Didn't he play @ Stanford?

He should know better. Take a knee. Let Rodgers move the ball. Rams had no timeouts and Green Bay had one left. 1:52 left on the clock. Idiot.

Guarantee, third and ten, at the thirty, down by 2, 15 seconds left... somebody is telling the
Qb “if no one is open, throw it away”. Guarantee That every Hail Mary every team (except the lions) the coaches are hammering “forget interceptions... just knock the f*****g thing to the ground”.

Well, using ESPN tackle stats and Football Outsiders snap counts, Burks has managed 1 tackle per 5.8 defensive snaps compared to 7.5 for Martinez.

Having started the season injured, Pettine has been gradually working him in with the following defensive snap %'s for the first 6 weeks, respectively: 0%, 0%, 13%, 34%, 40%, 49%.

If the qualifications are speed to the sidelines and to stay with a back in coverage, who else ya got?

Whitehead is a possibility. Clinton-Dix is at a 100% snap count, Brice at 99.7% and Whitehead at 34.4%, so Pettine has used 3 saftety sets over 1/3 of the time with Whitehead taking a fair amount of the snaps in the box in hybrid ILB mode. Whitehead's highest snap counts were in week 4 (67%) and week 6 (47%) while being inactive in week 5 (questionable-back issue).
So, they went with Whitehead at ILB. Or you could call it dime with a box safety which is a distiction without a difference. He looked a little lost out there, the one negative in an excellent defensive performance.

Very well said. Players are too 'close' and always are trying to make plays. I will take it a step further, instruction from the coaching staff should have been 'if the kick is going to carry to the end zone in the air, do not even attempt to catch it'. It is automatically dead and would mean there was no chance of wasting the 2 minute warning (or muffing it, etc.). If Zook tells him that then we avoid this. I agree it was not smart but there is so much going on in their heads during pressure situations that the coaches need to constantly work them through it. You have to micromanage those scenarios.

Patriots got a coach and a great quarterback. Packers got a coach and a great quarterback.
Patriots win tons of games and super bowls.
Packers can’t get a play called.
So...??
I gotta go polish off my warm pot of beer brat water. Very sad.

Season is not over with the Vikings and Lions both losing today and the Bears only being one half game up on us.

But we gotta kick a few problem players outta here.

If Zook would have told him that he should be fired immediately as a kickoff isn't dead when entering the end zone but could be recovered by the kicking team for a touchdown.

The Packers haven't been as successful as the Patriots over McCarthy's tenure but they rank third in the league in winning percentage since 2006.

I thought they changed that rule this year? or is it they still have to field it, but it's considered a touchback if you don't try and bring it out and don't have to put a knee down to signal it?

True, my bad. The league changed that rule this offseason. Maybe I should be fired for posting a stupid reply.

Probably our best game of the season! Clark, Clay, Martinez, Alexander, Adams, Valdes-Scantling, Aaron Jones...so many stellar performances all thrown away.

I still don't believe that we went with a run that close to our own line leading to the touchback. That play turned the game. What a ridiculous call by MM.

I think you meant safety. In hindsight, I have a feeling MM is kicking himself for calling that play, as well as not letting Williams run it, although I don't think even he would have fared much better. The Rams were basically lined up in a goal line or 4th and short formation and had the play smelled out. Rodgers should have probably audibled out of it or actually in that situation, used one of those timeouts that he so often burns by taking the play clock to zero.

McCarthy should have thought back to earlier in the game, when his own defense was able to stop the Rams on short yardage, obvious run situations.

Edit: After finding and watching the play online, the Rams defense deserves a lot of credit for stuffing Jones. They were playing a 5 man front and 3 linebackers up, guessed correctly at to where the run was going and absolutely manhandled the Packers OL at the point of the run.

Over the past six seasons NFL teams have run the ball of 52.7% of the plays from their own 1. Those plays are risky no matter what though as 8% of them result in points for the other team.

The rams killed us on that play, lead blocker, Williams running, etc not much was going to work. Our oline was destroyed on that play. It happens sometimes. I thought we overcame it in the game though. One positive. In the past that play and the bobbling catch that set up a TD later going into the half would have sunk us. It didn’t

So instead of admitting that you were wrong, you continue with this nonsense:
Lmao!! Put a fork in them they gonna lose the next 3-4 games too
Do us all a favor and just deactivate. Nothing but trolling at this point.
