Lazard is a RFA in '22 so would probably have a bit more value than UFA MVS...but Lazard is a really, REALLY good blocker which the Packers like.So we have all been talking about players we would like for the Packers to trade for. What if a deal came along for a solid TE, WR or DT that required us to trade a young player. Obviously the details of player and money are important, but are there Packers you would part with if the right deal came along?
First rule: Nobody can say Kevin King.
I'm thinking possibly Lazard or MVS if it's a WR we are getting in trade.
A young OLineman?
I think we could spend a pick, even a high one. The Packers limitation is worse, it's cap space, this season and next. If there is a trade, it's going to have to be very cap friendly.I would imagine the only thing we do is maybe a 4th or higher pick for some TE. I don’t see a trade for a high end WR, maybe a better DL but I doubt it.
I think a new thread on who we sit if and when some of the IR guys come back will be interesting soon.
The thought crossed my mind too, but I think there were good reasons why they kept Dafney and Kafusi on the team and cut Jace. Those 2 guys are still options, so it wouldn't make much sense, especially since he hasn't even seen the field as a member of that team formerly known as a football team.I know it’s probably a stupid thought, but we could probably get Sternburger back cheap and he would be the one guy that MIGHT be able to step in and help a bit. Yeah, I’m ready for the comments
Matt LeFleur says they are trying desperately to make a trade. We'll see. However, he's probably not aware that tynimiller says the Packers do not have the cap money available to make a trade.I think between now and 3 PM tomorrow, there is actually a good chance the Packers make a trade.
Matt LaFleur: Packers are "working extremely hard" at trade deadline - ProFootballTalk
Packers coach Matt LaFleur says his team is interested in adding to the roster before tomorrow’s trade deadline.LaFleur told reporters today that General Manager Brian Gutekunst and the personnel staff are hard at work seeing if they can make a trade work.“If the right opportunity presents...www.google.com
I think Gute will stand pat this time. Could be reasons for it.Thats exactly what I was thinking. I like all the positions mentioned. But by far TE has become an instant priority and I’d offer that it’s not even a close debate right now.
It’s become such an important position in this league and nearly all the top contenders have a really good pass catching TE (or 2). If you think about it, Our Offense operated near its peak when Tonyan elevated his game. When Tonyan dropped off some, so did our propensity to be efficient near the end zone.
The second option for me is another bonafide WR that would demand attention from our opponent. That’s a 180 change from me wanting a Defender. Rodgers has earned the right to get a weapon without asking. That’s also a 180 change for me.
Agreed on the "anything major" part. I have to laugh at some of the "articles" out there that speculate trades. Many of them forget the fact that the Packers are a cap strapped team and play out scenarios of the Packers trading for guys they can't even come close to affording.a lack of tap room and not as much ammo as many other teams with draft picks will probably prevent them from doing anything major.
According to Rodgers, Deguara was the cause of that delay of game at the goal line in Arizona. What's so frustrating about players in their second year and older, is not knowing the plays or where to line up. That tells me that they are either dense or not studying their playbook well enough. DeGuara had almost the entire 2020 season on IR to study and watch film. Considering what these guys are paid, if they don't do that part of their job, I have no sympathy.
Yes and that is not a good way to get on AR's good side. I kind of understood Winfree's confusion at times, but come on Deguara? They do say that TE is one of the most difficult positions in the type of offense that MLF runs, but he needs to be better.According to Rodgers, Deguara was the cause of that delay of game at the goal line in Arizona.
"Former Jags Offensive Coordinator Jay Gruden coached Eifert as a rookie, when both were with the Bengals. As the tight end evolved, Gruden saw a guy who can change a game…but one also hampered by injuries that had affected his career.Anyone know why Burton and Eifert have been sitting as FA's all year?
We can only hope his plane is delayed until next Monday. He may not be up to speed by Sunday and it isn't nearly as big as what the Rams did yesterday with getting Von Miller.Melvin Ingram to Chiefs for a 6th rounder
i'm sure they can put him in on 3rd down passing situations just to put pressure on rodgers. he wouldn't necessarily need to be "up to speed" if his only job is to try to sack rodgers. We can only hope his plane is delayed until next Monday. He may not be up to speed by Sunday and it isn't nearly as big as what the Rams did yesterday with getting Von Miller.
Seems to be the most logical need right now. I wouldn't trade much for any of those options, but Engram would be my first choice. Hollister for a 7th round, might make more sense. He would be cheap ($425 K'ish) and he wasn't too bad when given an opportunity in Seattle. You must be logged in to see this image or video!
