Just out of curiosity, let me ask this question:
Given the opportunity to trade MLF straight up for Ben Johnson, would you do it?
Hard for me to say just yet. As myself and others have said it seems like perhaps MLF is a guy who is better suited to be a coordinator than a head coach. As of yet naturally we don't really have anything to indicate one way or another regarding Johnson in that area - may well be (theoretically) swapping one "better coordinator than head coach" for another, ya know?

His offensive game plan against Dallas in the playoffs was just so damn good. If he can get back to that; he'll be more than just fine. And pay more attention to time outs and when to go for two and throw the flag. But the offensive game plan is the most important thing.

Ah, but that's what makes it a tricky question.

I keep thinking about Andy Reid though. Was head coach for 20 years before he won a Super Bowl, then he won multiples. Maybe MLF just hasn't been in the right situation yet, or maybe he hasn't had enough seasoning yet.

Maybe Andy Reid got a whole lot better when he got Patrick Mahomes..........

Well, maybe we'll get our Mahomes in 15 years (wishful thinking, I imagine). Reid didn't do bad with the Eagles, of course, but he never got over the top. I've been annoyed with lapses by MLF myself, but we do have the youngest team in the league, so maybe it shouldn't be a surprise they haven't met their potential yet. It's the eternal question: How much is the coach, and how much is the talent?

As for Johnson, is he just flavor of the month because the Lions had the best offense in the league? We hired MLF for similar reasons, because he came from a successful Rams program. How will Johnson do without Detroit's OL?

A great deal of how you game plan for the season, for each game is dependent on the talent you have at the moment. Interesting comment heard from Pat Kerwin the other day related to the best NFL teams and their chances of winning a SB. How many elite, best of the best players does each team have on their roster. Typically the answer is going to be in the 4-7 range, one former NFL'er said 9- Kerwin, no not happening in todays NFL. So question is how many of those players does GB have on their roster - honestly speaking???? Hard to actually find more than 2 and likely only 1 (Jacobs- Yes, Gary???-) Anyone else you can think of because frankly I cannot. Then ask, is their coaching staff "elite"? Is their front office "elite"? Compare to KC Chiefs who are going after another SB.. Compare to the NEPatriots title teams..... Cannot even suggest that GB is in their class in any of these areas of consideration. So what does that tell us, when you suggest GB ceiling the above can tell us what it likely is; the worry is what is their floor now in a division with strong and up and coming teams and a conference where Philly, Washington, LA Rams are all highly competitive, have talent and coaching while Det, MN and upcoming Chi will test this team. Until GB has an elite level QB, WR who can be trusted to do the job, a line that is consistent and the D can hold the run, defend the pass consistently.... and of course ST don't make mistakes and everyone learns how to tackle.... GB ceiling is playoffs and maybe 2nd game. IMO

Forgot to include TB and SEA as similar competitors.
