He just likes to sneak it in if he can? :)

Honestly, if the front office wants McDaniels, I'm cool with it. I just have a bad feeling he's going to ditch us for Cleveland (although I'm hoping they hire McCarthy instead). Also, what if McDaniels draws things out, waiting on Cleveland (which is supposedly his #1 choice), and we end up missing our #2 and #3 choice (or more)? That's our worst case scenario IMO.

Roger that on the first. He wins more than anyone else, regardless, but if the opportunity presents itself, he'll take it. If you can convince me that other teams wouldn't do so, given the right circumstances, I'll at least admit to a character flaw, but certainly not a flawed football operation.

People can hate this guy all they want but once we start winning big with him there gonna be naming streets after him. Book it.
If he can do that IDC if he gets a McDonalds happy meal named in his honor.

Uh. Yes ma’am. I’ll take the #3 McDaniels...
and Super Bowl size it! and throw in some extra hot mustard sauce please.
Excuse me? Oh yes ma’am I almost forgot. I’ll take the Strawberry Frozen Tundra please

You literally just described Mike McCarthy.

The Packers need someone who is good with the X's and O's moreso than some motivational speaker.

I literally did not. McCarthy didn't motivate a damn thing. That's why he's gone. McCarthy was good with X's and O's, he lost his touch and didn't adjust with the times.

Don't know how I feel about him possibly asking Philbin to stay on as OC.

Zook will be reassigned to assistant coach. That's what a guy on the radio said.

That had better not be true because that piece of garbage did enough damage to our ST units as it is. What's he going to be allowed to touch now?

Him being allowed to stay period is making me want Murphy thrown out of here because he seems to be ordering this.

Enough of this reshuffling the deck nonsense. Clean the damn house out, and if Murphy won't allow it, toss him out too.

I'd be happy for them to keep Pettine and a guy like James Campen. I don't really care if Philbin stays on in some capacity. McCarthy kept him too.

But I'd like to see LaFeur draw on some on his past connections and infuse some new coaching talent into the staff as well. Zac Taylor as an OC would be a great get.

They definitely need a new Special Teams Coordinator.

The thing is Mike Pettine may have been at the top of Matt Lefleur's list of DC choices from the day he first thought about becoming a head coach but if Pettine is retained no amount of talk will ever convince some fans that the only reason McDaniels wasn't hired was because he refused to keep Pettine and the only reason LaFleur was hired was because he will be a Murphy yes man..

Maybe McDaniels wasn't hired because he's an overrated skeeze.

IMO a guy like Toub shouldn't be overlooked just because "he has spent the majority of his coaching years as a special teams coach.
It is not the majority. It is the entirety of his professional career and all of the last 20 years. I'm sure, as Ariens said, he's quite capable of taking the podium for team meeting. :whistling: I have no problem with a guy making his way up the ranks from special teams. That might require taking a pay cut to position coach or doing double duty as ST and position coach to get on the coordinator track.

You can keep selling, but I'm not buying.

Could it be possible a lot of players on the Def on exit interview stated they love Pettine and would like him back? That could explain why mm and Gute said he stays?

Just a theory
I'm sure that's part of it. Toss on top of it, he had them playing respectably all year with 3,4 starters on that side of the ball. He can take a raw deal and still field a defense. I'm sure the players loved playing for him, that seems to be a general consensus everywhere he's been. Plus, this will be year 2 of a defensive install, not starting over with year 1. That significant.

And in the end, i doubt it came down to LaFleur said he'd keep Petting and McD wanted to replace him so they went with LaFleur. If the guy you really believe is the guy to run the team, then you let him run the team. It's likely McD wasn't, the fact he may have wanted to clean house and start over was just a part of it.

Perhaps we should not be too concerned with what people who don't know think they know.....:D

This is just plain wrong on all accounts. McCarthy is not gone because of lack of motivation. McCarthy was a great leader of men, a player's coach, and usually had the team ready to play when it mattered most. What has been lacking is creativity, hence X's and O's.

I would tend to agree with this. My gripe with MM was that the design of his offense was no longer as effective as it needed to be.

Whats funny is we supposedly drafted all these "high character guys" and many haven't been. Montgomery "doing him" and costing us a chance to win a game. Randall who was a head case. HaHa who quit on the teams on many occasions. I could name more.
These are on-field issues. How about off-field? Here are just the ones that jump to mind at the moment:
  • Brandon Underwood: some kind of prositution and/or **** incident
  • Johnny Jolly: purple drank suspension
  • Mike Neal: 4 game suspension for performance enhancing drugs
  • Letroy Guion: a pound of pot, $100,000 cash, and a gun earning 4 game suspension (No jail time. I want that lawyer! ;))
  • Eddy Lacy: performance enhancing pizza (just kidding)
  • Aaron Jones: 2 week suspension for pot
I'm sure there are others I'm not thinking of on the spur of the moment.

Geronimo!!!!

You think they would ask them before drafting or signing them if they did drugs or liked to **** women. I mean come on, simple screening could have weeded these guys out.

I agree but McDaniels fans don't.

Wouldn't it be nice if the whole McDaniels is interested in the Browns and the Browns are interested in McDaniels thing was made up by McDaniels' agent to create competition with the Packers and they said screw it, if he would rather go somewhere else let him go.

Some of these guys were weeded out.

So the interview ends with "well I think we have what we need , thank you for your time. Oh... just one more thing...do you like to **** women?
