First off, this is supposed to be the Jordon Love thread. Not the "what if Rodgers/Brady" thread.
Rodgers and Love will be inextricably intertwined forever. But i resemble the super bowl talk, that could possible have been avoided.

Surely you never went off topic?
He not only went off topic, he publicly announced he was guilty beforehand! :laugh:Up until that juncture he was fully warranted to call us out.. after that he was fully complicit in the very crime of verbal philandering:roflmao:
My apologies in the fact that you are the perfect poster @longtimefan
Nobody is perfect and certainly not Love! It’s not like we were talking about Minnesota ILBs here ;)
Now let’s back to topic..

If we speak in the tongues of Rodgers and have not Love.. we are nothing!
Love is patient
Love is kind
Love is not boastful
Love is not irritable or resentful!
Love BEARS all things, believes all things and hopes n endures ALL things.
When I was a child? I texted like a child
How’s that for Love!
Oh crap there I go again

Well, it seems the only time @longtimefan interjects to poke at people. Supposedly, he is a moderator, but sure doesn't seem like it. Wonder if there is an agitator title.
Can you tell us what my non paying job is?

Wouldnt part of my non paying job is to get threads back on topic?

And wouldnt I have actually tried to steer you that way?

I don't even understand your questions. I was trying to get us back on the topic of Jordan Love. I didn't specifically call out anyone. It was just a generalization. Then you specifically called me out basically saying I was a hypocrite. Not sure how that is getting us back on topic. I'm over it and moving on. Just want to talk some football.

He moderates this forum as a volunteer and generally doesn’t mess with people’s content. What do you want?

Will do and sounds good.

Love has not been officially ruled out of the game Saturday, but MLF has said he is unlikely to play. I kind of find this odd. From interviews and reports it sounds like there is not really an injury here. They are being protective of Love. It's probably a fine line I guess, but if that is the case isn't Love being robbed of important reps this week?

It’s almost like they’re taking a long term view with this.

First off, this is supposed to be the Jordon Love thread. Not the "what if Rodgers/Brady" thread. I'm sure several of them exist. While saying that, I can't help but comment on this.

It is really hard to win a Super Bowl. Just ask Lions fans. Having to live through the 80's Packers also should remind fans how lucky we are. I dislike the idea that the FO let Packer fans down somehow. I know you said they tried their best, so how is that letting fans down? I would argue that means they created a franchise that year in and year out has a shot at a Super Bowl. They don't hand out Lombardi trophies just for funnsies. Every team is trying to get there. The draft is not an exact science and they have drafted several defensive players high that just didn't land. That's just how it goes. I totally wish the Packers had more Super Bowls, but I'm also glad to watch an entertaining product on the field almost every season.

Now, I heard on the radio this morning that Love is not playing in tomorrow night's game. Can we get back to discussing that?

How many Rings does Jordan love have if he was the starting QB for the Patriots for the last 20 years. Since he is only 22 I'd say 1 at the absolute most but 99.9% most likely none. God does he suck or what.
Wow, that was quick to jump on me. I will try to be a better poster just for you @longtimefan. Back to my room to think about my actions.

I get tired of the Rodgers - Brady discussion and the fantasy of them being on different teams. I also get tired of the "we should have more Super Bowls" discussion. That is the main reason why I wanted to get back onto the point of the thread.

My apologies in the fact that you are the perfect poster @longtimefan
Careful you don't fall down the stairs. Some of those basement steps can be tricky :D :D :D :D

Gentlemen… this is supposed to be the Jordan Love thread. Let’s stay on topic.

Now— do you guys think Funchess is a trade chip or a 6th receiver?

I don't know what to else say besides brilliant. Oh and 6th receiver. Love will learn a lot watching him catch the ball. That last part was just to stay on topic.

Will do and sounds good.

He'll likely play most of the final game against the Bills and then hopefully sit for another year so I'm not sure how valuable a half of preseason football right now is going to be in the overall picture. I doubt if after 2022 or 2023 anyone is going to be saying if only he had gotten some reps against the Jets in the 2021 pre season.

Maybe the Packers made a verbal agreement to trade Rodgers after the season if that's what he wants, in order to convince him to play for them this season. That may not be technically binding, but if Gute screws him over on that, things could get really ugly. Or maybe it is on paper.

Gute's only GM a few years, seems like a short amount of time to get Rodgers goat so badly. Unless he had prior run ins with him, or more likely it's the Love pick that's irritating him. Or maybe Rodgers is annoyed with Murphy. Or maybe he sees the administration as one faceless, evil blob.

I'm absolutely convinced the Packers haven't guaranteed Rodgers that he will be traded next year, let alone put something like it on paper.

What might have happened is that Gutekunst told Rodgers they might think about trading him if the right situation presents itself.

I think every player understands the 2nd statement is implicit in their career choice. I don't think they need it spelled out. Now the Packers FO may have re-iterated it for emphasis.

I don't believe that Capers suddenly forgot how to successfully coach a defense after two years with the Packers. The unit lost Collins in the second game after winning the Super Bowl and never rebounded from it. A lack of talent definitely contributed to it though.
You have missed the point entirely. Capers whence first hired would apply a simplified version of his defense, which would explain his brilliant initial success in places like jax Car and in GB. But his continued tenure would result in him installing more and more concepts until the scheme becomes unworkable. This would explain why his units ultimately devolved into mediocrity in each of his defensive coaching stints. In 2011 the defense showed all of the stiffness of a lawn chair before Collins went down with an injury.

Is it your position that Ted Thompson suddenly forgot how to draft but that these failures were limited to the defensive side of the ball? Its really strange given that with the lion share of GBs draft picks going to tge defensive side of the ball that TT still managed to draft players like Davante Adams, David Bakhtiari, Aaron Jones and Corey Linsley. Each of whom were top 5 players in their position groups and none of them selected in the first round.

Coaching and scheme are absolutely factors in player development. In Capers post SB defense player development stalled.

Well it looks like Love was back doing a full array of drills this week. Our #3-#4 depth level QB should be good to go after a minor shoulder injury (oops!)
