Da bears match the packers offer for 4 years 56 million. So I guess Gutekunst cost da bears more money now.

Apparently the Packers have expressed interest in mathieu. Will be interesting to see if they go after him. They ate willing to spend the money on the right guy

Really surprised the Packers didn't offer at least that to Mathieu. Outside of ej Gaines, and a few old guys it is looking rough at cb

That's a lot lower than I expected. Damn, how do you not snag him up on a deal like that?!

I’m guessing because he’s injury prone and coming off his worst season. Not saying that logic will prove correct, but that’s why.

well... it's clear what the Packers have to do now...plug the hole left by randall and MOVE UP in the draft, if need be, to get the top cb.

Why is that starting to sound like a broken record every offseason, "Fix the CB position"? :cautious:

Maybe we did and he didn’t want to play in Green Bay. It’s pretty cold and not exactly a hot spot for a young rich male.

Time for Gute to hit the phones and inquire about trades. It's been mentioned that Patrick Peterson isn't thrilled about the idea of being part of a rebuild in Arizona. Gotta get creative; IMO the draft will be needed for edge rusher and WR.

Gaines and/or Williams; we're at the better than nothing stage. A trade for a CB, aggressive in moving up in draft for edge rusher and WR.
And check in on Breeland.

The Packers were in on Breeland before so I wonder what the odds are they go back after him. Might be able to get him cheaper than before. Breeland only got 3 years 24 million with 11 in guaranteed money. If they do a deal similar to that I would be happy. It would allow them to get another older corner on a one year deal as well

Why is everyone freaking out right now? Does no one see how much of a BOSS Gute is? He just made such a power move in FA and people are still complaining. He just made the team that Came in second place in FA (next to the Browns) and a division rival pay BANK to a CB. The alternative was that we would. Look, we’re not deep at CB, but our roster is still better than it was in December. We’re going to sign a FA CB (or trade for one) and draft one. Packers fans are so rediculous. Relax people. Our GM just made the best move of FA, amazing how some people overlook that. I’m team Gute.
1. Jordy is old and like all ex Packer WR will be useless outside of GB
2. Jimmy Graham will score 12 TD next year
3. Mo Wilkerson is a monster. We now have the best 3-4 DL in the NFL
4. Deshone Kizer IS better than Brett Hundley. We now have some one with talent, learning from AR (hopefully never goes into a game) but at a minimum is trade bait in 2 years
5. Demarious Randall sucked. He was a first round pick taken by a GM that selected him in the first round but should have gone in late Day 2 of the draft or early day 3. People are blinded by his 4 INT that were created by the front 7. Oh yah, and he walked out of Lambeau during a game.
6. Packers made a play at IMO one of the best CBs around the league. Didn’t get him, BUT made a division foe shell out bank for him.

If you can’t see the positives here I’m positive we could win a super bowl and you would still be complaining.

Melvin signed with the Raiders. On just a one year deal too. Breeland is still a free agent

From what I can gather right now the Packers are going big or not doing anything in Free Agency. And I wouldnt say that is a terrible thing early in free agency because what often happens is people overpay for average players. I am surprised the packers havent looked deals like Melvin and Mathieu got that were one year and rather inexpensive

Sure there are positives, but the fact is the Packers are in desperate need of a solid CB and there are very few remaining. Kevin King will have to have a solid second season. If he doesn't the Packers are in real trouble. Let's assume they draft a top CB . They still need to pick up a veteran who can play, otherwise it's going to be Davon House.

Is there not enough time to pick up a veteran?

Nope...not possible. If we don't sign guys its always our tightwad GMs fault. Players have no say in where they want to play. They have to go where the Packers tell them to go and if the Packers don't get them its because they didn't try.
