He didn't let them go. When you do not have the money to match the offers they received from other teams its out of your hands. He did not GM the Packers into salary cap crap, he was BROUGHT into it.

BS. Sherman's first year as GM he had about $20 million over the cap along with Sharper and Longwell as FAs. He got under the cap and signed both high priced FAs. TT could have worked things to keep at least one of our starting OG's. Instead TT never even negotiated with either of the players' agents.

Did you listen to Wahle or Marco? They EACH said the offers they had were WAY out of the league and the Packers didn't have a chance financially to retain EITHER of them.

I was under the same thought as you man UNTIL I heard THEM saying the offers they got were way out of reach for the Packers who did attempt to retain them during the season but with not knowing if Brett was coming back neither wanted to committ especially knowing they could potentially be hitting the jackpot in FA. Which they did.

Teddy the Termite I have a request:

Please start filling in all the holes you are making in this team. Can we start with the guards that you let go then maybe move on to another Head Coach ( even though you have no Idea who you are looking for ). Please follow all that up with a QB half as good as the guy you are working on pushing out the door.

Should not take too long should it ?

he filled Hunts hole with cullen jenkins. that sure was the best move possible.

he filled joey thomas hole with mike hawkins, a rookie who has a tremendous upside. seems like a smart move.

he brought in some veteran LBs..seemed pretty good

Sharper went to the Vikings...what did we do...oh...we got NIck Collins...

He is fixing shermans mess nicely. This teddy the termite **** is ****ing retarded, and so is every person who says it.

Sherman brought Jenkins in, not TT.

The Thomas hole wasn't there until he was cut during the season. I'm sure that the coaches had a lot to do with that. But Hawkins was our #4 and no one of quality was brought in to fill the #4 CB hole.

Getting Robert Thomas and drafting Pop and Manning were great moves. I've kept saying though that the draft was a major bright spot for TT this year.

Sharper was gone no matter what with that large cap number. Drafting Collins was great, but that was Sherman's call.

The jury is still out on the quality of TT as a GM because thusfar it's been very weak. I agree that Sherman needed to be relieved of his GM duties, I just don't think that TT is doing a great job. Remember that Harlan hired TT because he thought TT would work well with Sherman, not because TT was the best man for the job.

How do you know that Collins was a Sherman call? TT was the GM conducting the draft, and while a good GM listens to input from coaches, he is still the one who pulls the trigger. This draft was all TT, and if you need further proof, notice the team drafted football players, not athletes who dabble in football, and we gained picks instead of throwing them away.

Yep, all TT on that draft.

I've seen it reported before that Sherman pushed TT to draft Collins. I can't find the link, but this link shows Sherman's interest in Collins:
http://www.jsonline.com/packer/rev/apr05/321530.asp

"One reason Sherman feels that way is he sent safeties coach Joe Baker to meet with Collins before the draft. And Baker, a Princeton graduate, felt good enough about Collins to give Sherman the thumbs-up.

"We knew athletically he was a fine athlete," Sherman said. "But we wanted to know what his mental capabilities were in relationship to learning our defense.

"Joe spent some time with him and felt that this young man could learn our defense and get on the field. Whether he'll be the communicator initially remains to be seen. And certainly he's going to compete with the guys we have as well. But, obviously we drafted him to educate him and train him to play for us." "

What I've heard, from Cliff Christl in one of his post-game chats which I can't seem to find, is that it was Sherman who sold TT on drafting Collins in the second round. TT liked Collins but thought he might be available later but it was Sherman who pressed him to draft Collins where he did.

This, of course, is all speculation, but it's a rumor I've heard (and from a guy whose opinion I respect).
