Should the Packers look to trade HCD?

In short? My answer is yes. He’s on the last year of his contract, he’s selfish on the backend, and he’s not coming back anyways. There are several potential suitors for him....

Pittsburgh
Kansas City
Dallas
Seattle
Oakland
New England
Tennessee

All these teams need safety help. Now Oakland has a stockpile of draft picks so I’d call them first. But I think at least 4 of those teams would be willing to give us a 2nd for him. Kansas City would have the capspace to do a sign and trade and so would Oakland. We could rebuild the safety spot by having 2 first rd picks as 2 second round picks easily...as well as fill some other holes like guard and OLB.

For a 2nd? Sure.. but, I don't see any way that he would return a 2nd rounder unless we get some pictures of a GM with a goat to blackmail them with.

Clinton-Dix is the best safety on the roster, a position that lacks depth in the first place. Therefore it would be a terrible idea to trade him.

I think we could wiggle a 2nd rounder from some contender that is looking to fill a position of need. Especially if it’s a low 2nd rd pick..which KC will more than likely have.

2nd. or 3rd. rounder? You guys are dreaming. Nobody's going to pay that.

Even with dream fulfillment, who else ya got? Ready to throw in the towel on the season?

Isn't this line of reasoning best left for the Shout Box?

Is it really “throwing”
away the season? No. I think Josh Jones could be a solid option as well as Whitehead at FS. It’s not like HAHA is killing it.

I really don't understand the HHCD hate. He certainly has flaws, but (ETA: *some*) people on this board act like he's useless. He consistently grades out as one of our best defensive players. There's just no way the packers are considering trading him. Not happening.

so we’re going to signal to other teams that we’re prepared to dump HHCD despite how thin we are at the position, while expecting other teams to part with a high draft pick in order to “fill a position of need”?

Wow. As optimism goes, that’s about the best you’ve ever done, rodell.

If he weren't a Packer and say Rollins was there instead, would you argue for giving up a 2nd or 3rd to acquire him? Knowing he's going to want to get paid this off season thus ATM he is a one year rental.

Neither Jones nor Whitehead have shown the ability to play high safety. Or Brice for that matter.

And you will never, ever get the 2nd. round pick you're looking for even if you wanted to pack it in.

This is not MLB at the trading deadline.

Consider NE's mid-season trade of Jamie Collins to Cleveland, a guy in his contract year with a better resume than C-D. NE was to receive either a bottom of the 3rd. round comp pick if Cleveland was awarded one or their top of the 4th. round pick. The 4th. rounder is what they got. And I don't thin C-D would command what Collins did.

Shout Box is where this belongs.

Nah. I'm all for improving the team, but not for crappy returns and without a preferred alternative. Getting rid of HaHa right now would be pointless.

If they aren't bringing him back, then why didn't they trade for Mack? It's not like they are giving any of the other 2014, 2015, or 2016 draft scrubs we have/had big money.

You guys constantly miss the point smh. It becomes tiresome having to break everything down to a tee. The Packers have several safeties on the PS as well as the active roster. Please stop acting like w just don’t have anyone at all to see if they can actually fill in and do a good job...all while trying to improve the team.

Send him to Miami for Devante Parker. He would kill it in this offense.

Surprised nobody has suggested to trade him to the Seahawks for Earl Thomas, broken leg and all :coffee:

I don't think we should've drafted him. I watched Nick Marshall (Yes that Nick Marshall who was a UFA as a DB for the Jags when they sucked) count for 400 yards of offense in Haha's final regular season game at Alabama.

If Haha was a leader, I'd say 'yeah ok keep him' but we're seeing that we don't have a leader on the back end, and as the veteran, it should be HIM.

The Packers don't have an adequate replacement for Clinton-Dix on the roster. FYI they don't have a player at the position on the practice squad.

It wouldn't make any sense to trade the team's best safety for a wide receiver who hasn't lived up to expectations.

That game you're talking about happened in November 2014, approximately seven months after the Packers drafted Clinton-Dix.

Haha has been our best safety by a mile this season. I don't understand all the hate.

Yeah let’s take one of the biggest weakness on our team and trade him away I think dix sucks but still he is the best safety on the team therefore trading him would be dumb when we play the rams we already gonna allow 60 points let’s not let it be 70
