I have to say, I am having fun watching the NY Media, fans and the Jets themselves. Could be unrelated, but it appears the Jets are making all sorts of moves and kicking cans forward. Possibly in preparation for FA signings and very likely to accommodate 1 player, that may not even want to play for them. Sounds familiar, pretty sure that has happened to another NFL team.

Murphy made it pretty clear the Packers want to move on. He probably is leaning toward retirement over a move to Jersey.

Phone Conversation between Gute and Aaron:

Gute: "So you want to play for the Packers now Aaron? Are you willing to tear up your old contract and play for vet minimum so we can hit the free agency market tomorrow and go all in?"

Aaron: "I was actually hoping you would rework it and make me the highest paid QB in the NFL. But give me a few weeks, I will contemplate what I would be willing to play for"

Aaron: "Gute? Are you still there buddy? Gute?"

The Packers are in a bind trade/cap-wise
Rodgers is in a bind career wise
He can’t retire and be the prom queen runner up in 5 years standing next to a guy with 7 rings
If he goes to the Jets and fails, his whole “woe is me I’m the GOAT and the Packers just never gave me the tools” lament goes up in smoke
He has two choices - go to the Jets and try to make it work
Stay in GB and keep up the sack cloth and ashes act for one more year
I’m starting to fear the latter
He’ll fold on his career just like he’s folded in big games
Now compare to Brady - he went down the road and broke it off in their you know what
The contrast could not be clearer, kina like the 7 rings and actually PLAYING til 43(?)

Unfortunately A-rod can just declare he’s coming back to the Packers. IMO GB has to be willing to tell him that will be as Jordan Love’s backup. Crappy situation but that’s where we are

Now from what I heard he doesn’t have a problem with that he has told them he would like some weapons and really really go all in. Now hear is the kicker too he feels for Jordan love personally and he is in his thoughts to when he was in his position him and Jordan have talked as well I don’t know the gritty details of that conversation either

In my personal feeling there is a lot going on here and “I think” the front office gute made the decision to draft Jordan love and wants to play him There is a lot of pressure on that now my thoughts is he wants to turn the page and he hopes for his sake love is the next best thing from Rodgers. That equals longer job security.. Murphy is retiring in 2025 if love turns out to suck I think gute is fired. And looked as a failure to not doing the necessary moves to win with Rodgers. If Rodgers stays and they fail again and love goes somewhere else and is good. He is fired. A lot of pressure on gute and I think his best play is to play Jordan love and hope he is good. They don’t have the means to sign every player that Aaron wants.. he needs Love to play for his sake

Just read this article, I don't understand it. It says Rodgers is waiting to decide between the Jets and the Packers. For Rodgers to play with the Packers would be the Packers decision, not his. He just has to choose between accepting a trade and retiring. Probably just a badly written article:

If Rodgers wants to play for the Packers, he has a contract with them, they can't force him to retire. So if that happens they can cut him, trade him, without his blessing or put him on the roster. No team is going to trade for him, if he won't play for them.

Yes, but Rodgers can't just decide "I'm playing for the Packers this year".

Sure he can, he's under contract, as are The Packers. They can cut him, if they decide they don't want him on the roster. But they still would have to pay him, the contracted amount, until perhaps another team signed him. Also, his dead cap money would instantly hit the cap. They can bench him and not actually play him, but they would still need to pay him, the contracted amount.

In which case, he won't be playing for the Packers. The Packers will decide if Rodgers plays for them or not, not Rodgers.

Semantics. They will have to cut him or carry him on the roster, if that is the path he chooses. In either scenario, he gets paid.

Probably not a good PR move by him or the Packers to let it get to that, but again, his decision.

I think he's right about that. Rodgers wants to return to GB but the team wants to start the Love era...the Bakh thing is getting interesting becas it sure does seem like they havent restructured him yet becas they are at least considering including him in the Rodgers trade

For all we know Rodgers has said ill only agree to a trade if Bakh comes with me. I can certainly see that.

Sounds like its gonna be Packers east, with Rodgers, Bakh, Cobb, Lazard, and Tonyan all headed to NYC

Once again, just a media driven narrative that Rodgers asked Bakhtiari to be traded with him as well which ended up not involving any truth to it. Of course that won't stop a lot of fans believing in everything that is published by some media outlets.

Spot on. Jordan is going to be a lot more mobile than Rodgers and even when Bahk missed almost all of the 2021 season, the OL played pretty well.

Rodgers making up for shortcomings on the offensive line was the main reason the unit looked pretty decent in 2021.

Seems like they are clearing money to probably absorb a big hit from the Rodgers trade. I really hope part of it is also redoing Bahk so it is easier to trade him as well.

The Packers would take an additional cap hit of $17 million by trading Bakhtiari now. Not gonna happen.

I get people worried about not having Bahk, but there are 31 other teams playing without him and some do just fine.

Well, if that's your way of thinking there's no reason to be worried about the Packers not being able to keep any of their players. 31 teams are playing without every single player around the league.

We weren't just fine without David. Both of our prior post season exits the are directly related to the poor play of our offensive line. It can be covered up with excellent QB play manipulating the pocket. Limiting the offense by keeping RB's and TE's in to block and out of patterns, which is possible because of excellent QB play, and against lesser quality teams.

it showed up against Tampa and the 9er's

I understand how some might think Rodgers is loyal to the Packers, I even think that he has thoroughly convinced himself of that BS. I'm not buying it, Aaron Rodgers is only loyal to himself and his own ego.
Regardless of his reasons for wanting to stay in GB. It doesn't change what I said. It's always seemed to be very important for him to stay, play, and finish in GB, where he started. Whether it's to feed what you consider to be his insatiable ego and selfishness, or because he is genuinely thankful for the opportunity to play for a historic franchise and small city of GB and it's fans, or something in between, it still doesn't change the importance of it for him.

It's not an easy decision. I doubt any player that is near the end of their career is judging Rodgers as harshly as some fans who've never faced that decision.

I imagine that Gute is having "fun" today. The first day that he can legally talk to Free Agents and he has to keep telling them: "Well we could be very interested in signing you. However, we have no clue what our financial situation is, can you hold off on making your decision until we hear back from one of our players, on what he plans to do. That should be by Wednesday or maybe next week, possibly before the draft or actually, whenever he decides that he wants to tell us. July 26th was the latest he has ever told us, so by then for sure. Thanks for listening, we really would like to add you and several other players, but there again, we won't know until we are out of the darkness."
