Yes, that was a nice drive... hasn't done much other than that drive. Interception was a typical Aaron Int, a deflected ball. I swear it feels like more than half of his career picks have been off tipped balls, whether it be from a defender or off his own guys hands.

I only saw that drive and also thought he looked sharp - hopefully that was the highpoint of his season.

I guess the Jets lost a couple of big guys on the D line. And they could have used Red****. They didn't look like the D of the past couple years. And SF just looked too good. Very long drives.

Think it's probably going to be a season that gets frustrating pretty quickly for Rodgers. Defense could hardly get off the field (SF had something like 38 minutes TOP and I think *8* consecutive scoring drives?!) and unable to get much going on offense with a lot of drops, errors, etc...the exact sort of stuff that he'd always be getting p*ssed off at here with us, lol.

That first scoring drive looked really sharp, but never really got any more going than that.

I'm all for Rodgers playing well and turning the Jets around. I thought that their O-line looked better than last year. However, except for their TD drive things were just out of sync. The Jets defense did well considering that the offense couldn't stay on the field. Time of possession was almost 2-1.

Folks were afraid Rodgers would not be ready for the season after missing some OTAs. But he was even in postseason form by losing to the 49ers.

Yes, looking down the road I think I'd like for the Jets to remember that this trade worked out well for them. So that when it's Love's turn in 2037, they'll give us some good draft picks for him.

Don't get me wrong, loved Aaron Rodgers in the first 3/4 of his career with the Packers, but so glad that he is somebody else's problem now.

Rodgers has not been great by any stretch of the imagination, but TBH I'm not sure he's the single greatest cause of their issues right now. He's 8th in the league in passing yards and 9th in TD. He's got less picks than Love. He's got a higher passer rating than Mahomes.

That's of course not to praise Rodgers, much less disparage Love or Mahomes or whoever, but just to say that....I think their problems go a lot deeper than just QB. Rodgers is of course the face of the franchise right now so he's going to bear the brunt of those criticisms (plenty of which are accurate) but I think there's just a lot more going on.

Their defense was supposed to be elite and it's just average at best. They can't stop the run, they can't stop the pass, they can't hold on third downs, they can't create turnovers. They have virtually no run game (it's in the conversation for worst in the league, bar the cowboys probably) and their pass catchers can't catch or run the right routes. And Rodgers - as I've said before - still pretty much looks like 2022 pre-injury Rodgers: a decent player but not an MVP by any stretch of the imagination.

I don't know if the Jets were banking on Rodgers returning to MVP form. It seems kind of like they more or less convinced themselves that 2022 Rodgers with some decent weapons and an elite defense would be a formula for success. And that might even be correct! Except the defense isn't elite and the weapons are underperforming. Rodgers has definitely missed some throws, failed to hit some open guys...he's often looked a little apprehensive (if not scared) and is far from his best self. But at the end of the day he's still been the most competent QB they've had in AGES and has largely put them in positions to win. The QB can't do anything if your "Super Bowl roster" with an "elite defense" gets marched on by Bo Nix and Jacoby Brissett.

So I really don't know about them. Rodgers hasn't been good but man it's just a bad project top to bottom. I saw the other day Mike Francesca talking about how the Jets "broke" Rodgers. I don't totally agree with that (like I said - he looks about like he did before he left us) but I do agree with what he followed it up with: "If the Jets had traded for Jim Brown in his prime they would have made him into a third down back. They can ruin any player!"

I've watched the Jets play several times this year. Hard to miss, they are on prime time a ton. Rodgers play is usually pretty good, sometimes bordering on spectacular, sometimes not. He is definitely less mobile, even the players are now commenting on that, so with a weak OL, he is getting beat up.

However, I think the Jets organization and fan base are getting exactly what the Packer organization and fans got from Rodgers in his final 2-3 years in Green Bay. They are getting a pouty diva, that whether teammates want to admit it or not, is toxic. They have a QB that thinks he is the smartest guy on the field and creates a lot of false start penalties, confusion and the taking of timeouts because of it.

Rodgers is always going to "Rodgers", the Packers were smart enough to finally purge him while he had some value. He may be able to play at a decent level for another year or 2, but his toxicity may force him to retire before his body does.

Probably the most glaring thing with Rodgers' play that has become more and more of an issue is that IMO the way he wants to run the offense is comparatively starting to look a bit antiquated in the "modern" league. I don't know how much of that is Rodgers, how much is Hackett, Ulbrich, Downing, whoever.... But there's no tempo. They're slow to get the plays in, slow to diagnose, and slow to audible. There's very little misdirection, motion, it's not crisp or sharp in any way. Rodgers is doing his usual pre-snap stuff every play and it just ends up with the whole thing looking really disjointed and there's no "flow" to it. On Sunday they used all three timeouts in the first quarter after having run just TEN plays, for crying out loud!

For instance I think a big thing we've seen with LaFleur that benefitted "late-stage Rodgers" and has helped Love and Willis is that he schemes his offense in such a way that it's really designed to make the QB's life easier, wherever possible. The Hackett-Rodgers offense (or whoever is in charge of it anymore) more or less requires "hero-ball" out of the QB and Rodgers isn't that guy anymore. There's very few "easy" plays for that offense; everything looks like a fight. Rodgers hasn't always been great, but practically every passing play it feels like it's asking the QB to make plays when the degree of difficulty is through the roof. And some of that CAN still work if the pieces around are happening, but that's just not the case right now.

Ultimately... Feels like they're a day late and a dollar short, tbh. If you had this current version of Rodgers (24/25) playing with last year's defense and skill players (23/24), IMO that's probably a 10 win team at worst. But they've declined in pretty much every position around Rodgers, too, so basically his achilles injury burnt their only "window" as far as I can tell.

I totally agree with you as far as the Jets offense looking pretty discombobulated. Even their stud WR Wilson looks lost quite a bit. I honestly think Rodgers is on a whole different level with his football acumen and he expects everyone else to be there with him or close.

I also don't know all that much about the 2023 roster VS. this seasons. Here I thought they had improved the roster, especially now with the addition of Davante Adams.

After the Jets shut us down at Lambeau with a 27-10 victory which was literally won by their D and special teams in 2022 with Rodgers at the helm they were thinking that all we need is a decent QB. So getting ARod was not just becoming a winning team but a SB team. Old Peyton goes to Denver and wins the SB. Old Brady goes to Tampa and wins a SB. Old Rodgers goes to the Jets and the engine blows up. How do you like that?
