I'm even more convinced after this weekend that the NFC is wide open and all teams are flawed; no dominant powerhouse.
I also still believe that the defense and special teams will cost the team in the playoffs

  3. Washington (their defense scares me a bit and are on a roll)
  4. Seattle/Vikings
  5. Saints
  6. Bucs
  7. Rams

I'm having a tough time with the Bears @Vikings game this weekend. They are both sitting at 6-7 and hoping to sneak into the Playoffs with the final seed. Neither team can catch the Packers for the Division, but I would rather potentially have to face Arizona than the Vikings.

My knee jerk is "Go Bears", but I really don't want the Bears to have anything to play for in the final game of the season against the Packers and a Bear loss this weekend would almost shut the door on them. A Bear win this week and against Jacksonville next week, might put them into a position of that final game against Green Bay is a must win to get into the Playoffs. So I think I will be pulling for the Vikes, who have to play New Orleans next week, to hammer another nail into the Bears coffin.

I want the Vikings...because if they slip into the playoffs I think they have the best chance to perhaps provide an upset to the top three/four other dogs Buccs, Rams, Seahawks and Saints....and I like our chances against them in Lambeau.

Does a tie help knock them both out?

The math is too difficult and I don't want the vikings anywhere near the playoffs. Go Bears. I'll go to my corner now.

I get the fear of the Vikings because they did beat us and they have Cook but there is definitely some overrating of them going on here. They are 1-5 against teams .500 or better - losses to Packers, Titans, Colts, Seahawks, Buccaneers. They also have losses to the Cowboys and Falcons. Outside of beating the Packers during the hot streak they had they went down the final possessions against the Bears, Jags, and Panthers. They have one win that was not a last possession game and that was Lions.

I respect Cook a ton but this is not the Vikings defense of old. They lack the ability to get pressure from their front four and Rodgers is notorious for picking apart teams that struggle with that. Also if we get ahead and they have to pass their pass blocking is still brutal.

There is no doubt if we weren't playing the Bears in 2 weeks, I would be pulling for them to crush the Vikings. However, we are playing them on Jan. 3rd and I don't want the Bears to get on a roll (3 in a row), be sniffing the playoffs and come out motivated at Soldier Field and beat us before the playoffs start, potentially knocking us out of the #1 seed.

I think that regardless of the situation of the time, the Bears will be plenty ready to play us in week 17.

No doubt, but I would have to think that there is a different mindset and motivation between playing in a game that ends the season and one that extends the season. Not to mention no fans in the stands to motivate you. So yes, I would rather play a Bears team that had their minds on vacationing in a warm climate with friends and family, than beating the Packers to keep their season alive.

This is shaping up pretty good for us. With the Jets shocking Rams today, if the Chiefs hang on to beat the Saints, and the Rams beat the Seahawks next week, then even if we lose to the Titans we would only need to beat the Bears and we'd get number one seed no matter what else happens.

Actually every day assuming a Friday kickoff, the NFL has played a game

Lots of good happened for the Packers today in regards to the #1 seed. All they need is to beat the Bears. Regardless of what else the rest of the league does, a victory in week 17 will do it.

However, the Packers can clinch next Sunday with a win AND a Seahawks loss to the Rams.

This scenario would make week 17 irrelevant.

Not sure how I would feel about the Packers not playing a meaningful game in 3 weeks though.

Yup beat the bears and we are the #1 seed. We will have a better conference record than the Seahawks and head to head over the Saints.

I am sure we all agree that both of the remaining games are important in that the team must put it all together in order to be their best in the playoffs, and if I see it then the coaches and players certainly see it too.

KC looked good this afternoon, far better than GB, and the packers really have to bear down from here out.

Well, if the Packers secure the #1 seed next week their week 17 game in Chicago would be irrelevant. As they would get a bye in the first round they wouldn't play in a meaningful game for three weeks.

As far as I'm concerned, the playoffs start this week. I hope the team feels the same way.

If you heard Rodgers Postgame, you know that if nothing else, the second half was a wake-up call for him and his teammates. If you look at it that way, there might be a silver lining to what happened Saturday Night. While the next 2 games are very important to hold the #1 spot, I'm not so sure they will treat them like playoff games, especially the Bear game if that #1 spot is already locked in.

All that said, you don't want to go into the playoffs after a couple of lackluster performances and a bye week and just expect to crank up the intensity. However, you also don't want to limp into the playoffs with a lot of injured guys that you could have protected in that last game against the Bears.
