I do like that Week 17 should we need to win to get #1, we play in the early games. No way of knowing and playing like our seeding depends on it.

Although it could be possible if we need the game for top seed and the Bears need the game for the playoffs it might be moved to a later time

Looking at the sked, a few other games could be for playoff spots besides Bears / Packers. 'fins / Bills ; Steelers / Brownies ; Rams / Cards.

In terms of rival watch, I am enjoying the articles and talk about the "playoff window opening up for the Bears".

Does any reasonable person think the Bears will make the playoffs?

The upcoming heartbreak will be one of those shadenfreude things. I will feel so bad for them that I'll have a couple of brandy old fashions to steady myself.

They actually have a legit shot at the playoffs and haven't been playing all that bad as of late. Will they go far? Nope. However, Their defense scares me and with a few turnovers, coupled with motivation to win to get in, they could be a problem for us in the last game. If the Packers need to win that last game to get the #1 seed and the Bears need a W to get into the playoffs, it could be a harder game than I want to see it.

Best defense in the league my ***! This team will go as far as Kamara carries them. Rodgers and Jones/Williams will easily torch these guys if we come across them. And honestly I don't think they'll do nearly as well in Lambeau. There's no doubt in my mind we can take these guys.

I am not sorry to have Minnesota eliminated from the playoffs. I really didn't want to see them again.

Green Bay is head and shoulders better, but this is largely a game of matchups and they match up well with the Packers.

Not that I see the Saints as a cupcake by any stretch, but I prefer the idea of facing Brees in Lambeau.

Goff is going to be the demise of the Rams. Unfortunate for their fans, because they have one hell of a roster. Good for the Packers, though. He'll fold like a banquet chair in below freezing temps and blustering winds in Lambeau if it were to come down to it.

Goff suffered a broken thumb vs. the Seahawks on Sunday. He will be out for Sunday's game against the Cardinals and possibly longer if the Rams make it to the playoffs.

A month ago the Rams were making me nervous, mainly because of their defense and thinking that I didn't want to go out to LA to face them. Now both them and Arizona would be a welcome site in Green Bay for a Playoff game.

I would say the following 5 scenarios, in order, are the biggest obstacles to the SB for the Packers.
  • Playing @ Seattle
  • Playing @ New Orleans
  • Hosting Seahawks
  • Hosting Saints
  • Hosting Bears
The Saints and Seahawks are 2 teams that I think pose the toughest matchups for us. Kind of a toss-up as to who I would want to face, but definitely don't want head to Seattle, despite #12 not being in the stands.

The game on Sunday is the first step, beat the Bears, secure the #1 seed and I really like the chances of the Packers going to the SB. If the Bears beat us, that gets them into the playoffs, momentum AND and the possibility of a Bears@Lambeau Playoff game next week.

The Rams missing the playoffs would be a big coup for the Packers. They may not be the best overall team in the NFC field, but they are almost certainly the worst matchup for Green Bay when you consider how they can create pressure, cover #1 wide receivers, and run the football.

If we get 1st round bye, there's a good chance we'll end up facing Bucs in Round 2....which I'm not looking forward to.

Even if Rams make it, they'd have to face Seahawks again before us.

If we lose on Sunday, we can fall to the #3 spot and possibly face the Rams, Cardinals or Bears . The only teams we would not face in Round 1 are the Saints, Seahawks or Winner of the East.

If the Bears win and the Cardinals lose to the Rams, the Rams take the sixth seed at 10-6, followed by the Bears at No. 7. This could bring the Rams to Lambeau if both the Saints and Seahawks win this weekend.

I believe if we fall to the #3 and the Cardinals beat the Rams, we would play the Bears in Round 1.

If the Packers and Saints both lose and the Seahawks win, I believe we are the #2 Seed and would face the #7 Seed (Rams, Cardinals or Bears)

The Rams feature an average run offense and with Henderson being put on IR, Akers dinged up and Goff a question mark I wouldn't be worried about their offense.

The Rams could get the fifth seed by beating the Cardinals and the Bucs losing. They would face the NFC East champions in that scenario.

The Packers could face the Bucs in those scenarios as well.

True, but the Table I looked at had the Bucs as having a 1% shot at playing the Packers in the first round, so I opted to not confuse the conversation even more than it already was and leave them out. ;)

I was talking to some guys about this on Discord yesterday, and if things play out the way they do, chances are there is a high possibility of us meeting Tampa in the division round with how things are looking. Of course nothing is set in stone just yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if we encountered them.

THAT I agree with. If we are the #1 Seed and the Bucs are the #5, that pits the Bucs against the winner of the East. I would be shocked if they don't win that game. If the Saints and Seahawks win their games, that pits them against each other and us VS the Bucs in Week 2. So yeah, if we keep the #1 seed, I think the Bucs chances of being in GB on the 16th or 17th is high.

Yup. I'm torn tbh, and again nothing is set in stone yet. While a part of me wants to right the wrong of that fluke game Brady and company had against us weeks back, I DO prefer to make it to The SB with very little opposition for a change. Then again by chance if we do face Tampa I think we'll end up beating them and they'll be our toughest challenge, SB included.

This fan would like a rematch. The Buccs caught us without Clark in the middle and before the emergence of Keke. IMO our defensive front has become markedly better since then.

Be careful what you wish for, a lot of Packers fans wanted a rematch with the Niners last season as well.

Only difference is the Niners were head shoulders better than everyone in the NFC. Don't get me wrong, I'll never put anything past Brady, but imho we beat ourselves more than they beat us. While a part of me prefers to take the road of lesser resistance to get to The Superbowl, I'll be more than happy to see our boys send Brady packing.

Agreed. While I do think a Jan. game at Lambeau changes things quite a bit from their Oct. meeting in Tampa, it isn't like Brady isn't used to playing in cold weather. So I am totally fine with another team knocking the Bucs out of the playoffs.

All that said. If I was going on just a pure "Revenge and sweet wins" tour I would line us up in the following way:
  • Beat the Bears this Sunday and due to the Cardinals win, knock them out of the playoffs.
  • Week 2 of Playoffs, totally spank the Bucs.
  • NFCCG: Pound the Seahawks.
  • Super Bowl: Beat the Chiefs, while picking off Patrick Mahomes 4 times.

While there's some truth to that the Buccaneers defense might be able to give the Packers offense fits once again, even with the game being played at Lambeau.

Well it's not as big of blow as losing the best LT in football, but the Saints just lost Kamara for at least Sundays game and potentially the following game.

Kamara tested positive for Covid.
