Stopping Barkley will be key. We can't let him rip off 20+ yard runs. I'm not thrilled at the prospect. The guy could go off for 200. We need to match his output meaning Jacobs needs to go for over 100 and we need to hold Sequin to that 100 or so to come out of this with a W.

Yet, Washington didn't lose to Dallas and we lost to the Bears. Even had we beat the Bears, we would be the #7 seed. So, like I said, it would have taken 2 more Packer wins or 1 more win and a loss by Washington.

Counting on another team to lose, is kind of a losers mentality. Just go out and win games, so you don't have to rely on others.
I wasn't counting on another team to lose. I was just pointing out MLF and company most likely did not approach the Bears game like it was a preseason game. We still had something to play for before the games began. Washington had a better season than us ( but perhaps not as challenging) and secured the #6 sèed after beating Dallas. Bully for them I guess.

I DO NOT want to be that nattering nabob of negativism (thanks Spiro) but here I go anyway. It's not just the penalties that grind my beans, additionally I'd say this team has a real gift for mental errors at the most inopportune time. Someone always seems to "step up" and bumblef**k a drive and for that reason - or perception - I am approaching this game from a "show me" standpoint.

Now granted, with one GREAT, BIG AND ANNOYING EXCEPTION, they've won the games they're supposed to win in spite of themselves this season in, frankly, underwhelming fashion for the most part, that I'm just going to assume a rinse and repeat on a quarter-by-quarter basis with "no expectations" being the starting point.
Bumblef**** is the perfect verb.

The frustrating part of this entire season is that of all the losses we have only one is by more than one play. That was the one against the Lions where we were beaten 24-14 in Green Bay. The root cause of all those losses falls on just 3 things. Kickers who failed to convert their opportunities, bad time management decisions by LeFleur, and the prevent defenses we seem to throw up way too often, that lets opponents create scoring opportunities late in the game to steal it from the Packers.

Not one of these things was something that's acceptable during a season. The kicking problem is apparently resolved, but the other two situations are still on the table, and that's what concerns me moving forward. I'm beginning to believe that LeFleur gets frustrated by what he perceives as bad calls on the field near the end of games and let's it cloud his mind, making it difficult for him to focus on what needs to be done to preserve a win. In all honestly, I have no answer for Hafely's decisions late in games that opens up the field for passing attacks that eventually lead to scores that beat us. These two problems that still exist need to be addressed, and resolved if the Packers intend even having a chance to move forward in the playoffs.

I believe there's enough talent on this Packer team to make some moves in these playoffs, but I also believe these two problems that still exist are going to pop up somewhere along the line and cost them a chance for a win.

This is just conjectured opinion to be honest. I have no insights into the minds of Hafely or LeFleur. I'm just going by the results I see on the field.
I'm too lazy to look it up but how many close games did we lose before we got our reliable place kicker?

!!!! WTF!!!! I can't believe I sad MATTHEWS!!!!

****, yeah.... I totally meant HAWK!!!! What is HAPPENING with me??

Half Empty.... I don't know how old you are, but I assume you're probably younger than I am, because 4 out 5 Americans are. So allow me to give you a piece of advice, as an older man to a probably younger man.

Do everything you possibly can to avoid turning 67. Hold it off as long as possible. It ain't always just "hey, what did I do with my car keys?"
67?? You're just a kid. I'll be 71 on Tuesday. :D

Not sure how I feel about the game. There is nothing to suggest from this season that the Packers are going to just get blown away and not have this a competitive game in the 4th quarter. Unfortunately there is plenty to suggest that there will be some mental gaffe or singular play that will find the Packers on the other end of yet another 1-3 point loss.

All I know is that I'm looking forward to bonus football tomorrow. Something that a large segment of the NFL fan base doesn't get to experience.

Too bad about Anderson. Was hoping to see him get reps this season. Finally gets on the field and he gets a concussion. Hope he can be out there next year.
He's still out with a concussion? Poor guy. He'll probably end up wearing that padding on his helmet like Doubs does now once he is cleared.

I know what you mean. I have no expectations going into this game. If we win, great! If we don't I'm not going to be too upset. We were in one tough division this year. Can you imagin not winning yours like MN with a 14-3 record?

At least 2 of Minnesota, Philadelphia and Detroit won't be going to the Super Bowl so, for all the teeth gnashing I think if I was a fan of one of those teams their disappointment will far outweigh ours. Especially if Detroit collapses.

If the Packers don't go all the way, I want to see Detroit win it all. They need some kind of trophy to put in that empty case. As for the Vikings, I hope they get taken to the cut on the West Coast. I really don't want to see them win anything. They've been to the big one 4 times and dumped on the bed. I'd like to keep it that way.

They're "pretenders" acting like they have a rivalry with the Packers. It's all in their own minds. The Packer rivalry is the Bears. The Vikings are the ugly kid sitting on the dunce stool in the corner with the pointy white hat on, picking his nose and eating it!

Not that I've got anything against the lutefisk eaters don'cha know!

According to Roto. Love is a low end option. Wow

I can see that. From a pure fantasy standpoint for what the Packers have been doing and probably intend to do the 12 QBs out there I'd probably put him 9th or 10th this weekend. I'd take him before Stroud/Wilson and maybe Nix.

Like I jokingly said in another thread the Bears, Packers and Lions are Greg, Peter and Bobby Brady respectively whereas Minnesota is Cousin Oliver.

If the Rams do to Darnold like the Lions did.. going to be an interesting offseason for them and what they will do at the QB position.

67? LOL!!! Add a few years onto that and you have my age. I'm 84. I like it a lot more than the alternative.

I wonder how many actual people on the board date back as far as we do. Kind of a "Senior Members Group" based on life's experiences. When we talk about football, we've seen one heck of a lot of evolution in the game and been part of it in one way or another. We bring a different dimension to the discussions. In a lot of cases, I can pick the older members out here and identify very well with what they're saying. It's all so much more than just having watched a few games on TV and knowing all the catch phrases that surround the game. It's people who have felt the pain as players, coaches, and/or fans who dealt with decades of losing and still stayed with the team.

No Johnny-come-latelies in our group. I like that.

Agree. 79 here. Moved from Chicago area to Milwaukee area just in time to see Lombardi arrive and turn things around.

Hey guys, applying for membership in the old timers club! I'll be 66 on the 28th. Don't know where the time went. My Penn State went down last night, now it's up to my Packers, or I got to hope and pray to the Lord for another year.

I turn 70 next week. Still remember the power sweep and JKramer kicking 3 field goals in the 62 championship game.

67?? You're just a kid. I'll be 71 on Tuesday. :D

I'm totally shocked there aren't more pop up AARP Ads on this forum. :coffee:

We are all at risk for pnuemochochal pneumonia... I know this because a commercial playing 60's and 70's music just told me so. I'm gonna ask my doctor or pharmacist - oh, and I had chicken pox too.

If you count last season it adds up. If the bad kicks were ALL in one game so be it. But every week??

A pop in the head on a kickoff return at high speed is quite a bell ringer. Too bad it happened in a 38-0 win.
