This is why I wasn't against getting rid of MM when they did. They aren't just laying down the last month of the season because their season is over (I understand that mathematically it is not but lot of chips need to fall in place first) They are trying new things and getting ready for the future. It is weird to think 2nd year in a row, with Rodgers, going to miss the playoffs and I think the organization shares that feeling and getting a headstart on making sure it doesn't turn into 3 years in a row. I am not a college guy, I don't know the first thing to look at and analyze when it comes to OLine play other than an upright QB. So my thoughts on the guy are neutral and hoping for the best. But I do enjoy seeing them attempt to figure something out NOW instead of waiting.
MM wouldn't have been involved in bringing this guy in. it's all Gute. Gute is taking his job more serious than TT did in his last few years. this decision was a pretty easy one...fill that last roster spot with a prospect. hard decisions come this off-season and we'll see of the Mack deal has any affect on them.

Correct, agree I am sorry I didn't mean for it to sound like MM would have been against it or involved. Just meant I like, much like you said, Gute taking this role serious. Got rid of MM to send a message that although the season is over, we aren't just laying down and waiting for 2019 to find answers. We'll start now so we are fully prepped for the draft. Few teams to be just laying down for a draft pick, while Gute seems to be preparing already. Good to see if there is a silver lining to this season.

Off topic but sort of on topic, I didn't see a single post on 12/5, when the Packers signed former Badger Safety and Saints 2018 5th round pick Natrell Jamerson. Jamerson had a decent career at Wisconsin, was a final cut by the Saints and played some for the Texans. Will be interesting to see if he plays for the Packers where they use him. They list him as a CB.

Kid is a dynamite ST player. Might be able to parlay that into a roster spot. Very athletic.

It was "McCarthy Fired" week, so the Badger fans might have been distracted. ;) He's one of Gutekunst's several former mid-rounder pickups this season.

Something I noticed in looking at snap counts: Jamerson is the 17th. different DB on the 53 man roster this season. 15 have taken defensive snaps. Jamerson and Deante Burton (who lasted about a week) are the only ones not to see the field. That's a lot of DBs.

He ran a 4.40 at the Combine. Did 25 lifts which is a LB number. Pretty decent 35 1/2 vertical. It's kind of interesting he skipped the shuttle and 3-cone at the Combine, then ran them with pretty mediocre numbers at his Pro Day:

http://www.draftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=1016054&draftyear=2018&genpos=FS

He was the Defensive MVP at the East-West Shrine Game.

Judging from the speed/strengh numbers, I'm guessing you'll tell me he played gunner. He had 78 defensive snaps and 89 special teams snaps with Houston in 10 games with a stat line limited to 6 solo tackles, 1 assist and 1 pass defended.

The mediocre quickness numbers suggest to me strong/box safety though the listing at CB suggests the Packers have something else in mind.

We'll see if he makes it to camp next season.

Maybe Amish can be pursuaded to change the title of this thread to "Packers Sign OG Siragusa / DB Jamerson". ;)

Still a lot of the same.:) lots of negatives with one sentence about being a tryout.
I also said it's probably because Gutekunst liked him when scouting that draft. Once you get past tone to content, that's no different than what you said. I believe my tone is consistent with a guy picked off a practice squad who suffered a serious injury the year before which may or may not be a permanent impairment. And it only happened because Bell went to IR.

What is a little unusual is to have a 4th rounder still sitting on the practice squad in his second season.

Well, Siragusa missing all of his rookie season after suffering a torn ACL, MCL and PCL has a lot to do with it.

Agreed and this signing would have probably gone virtually unnoticed if the Packers were 10-3 and had solid depth on the OL.

The Packers most likely wouldn't have signed Siragusa in that situation ;)

Combined it into one post for you. I wonder if Gute is grabbing guys that he liked that Todyed didn't or couldn't draft when they came out.
There was an article recently where Gutekunst said one of this season's ex-draftee pickups, I can't recall which, was on the Packers draft board.

Ted certainly didn't draft these guys. Ted could have drafted them, but perhaps they they went off the board higher than where he pegged them. Maybe one or the other were on the bottom of the board as high value UDFAs if undrafted. There's one more possibility. Maybe Ted put one or the other on the board but really didn't like the guy at all.

Wouldn't surprise me at all, nor would Gute getting rid of some of Ted's guys that he didn't like.
