Just heard an interesting defensive stat on the Mina Kimes podcast: the Packers defense, if you take out drives that started because of a turnover by the offense, are top 10 in scoring drive percentage allowed. So, the defense is actually really good when you just look at drives that start normally. Over a third of the points given up by the defense have come off opponent drives that began with a turnover. If Love can cut down on the INTs this defense could really start showing out.

Good stuff thanks.

This next part is not a response to yours just general commentary.
We all know that Love has struggled with accuracy this season. Thats caused a lower 62% Completion % and higher 11 INT.
However, look past the bad accuracy that some of was a direct result of missing time and playing gimpy.
19th in Passer rating (Pat is 20th)
18th in total yards
5th in yards per game
7th yards per Pass
#5 in Avoiding Sacks(100 attempt min)
9th in TD

Love is a QB that can play under his standard, but still easily qualify in the Top 50% of the NFL. I truly believe now that he’s healthy, we will begin to see some modest improvements over the next several weeks. I’m not expecting 19:1 TD:INT ratios here. But 100% think he can go INT free for a game or two.

Difficult. Since Love is young and athletic he does not like to take sacks the way Rodgers did even if there was some daylight. Going back to the Colts game we avoided that with Willis in there because we played defense and ran the football. High margin for error but good teams will not let you do that consistently.

Off topic here but I did really like what the Steelers did with using both Wilson and Fields in situational. It actually worked also and I wondered if we could do something similar with Willis.

Tomlin coming out of the Steeler tradition always comes up with different wrinkles. His predecessor was very similar.

I remember when there was talk out of Minnesota that defensive assistant Mike Tomlin was a head coaching candidate. I really hoped that the Packers would pluck him away somehow to replace Bob Sanders at D-coordinator, or even McCarthy as coach. You could tell that the Vikings defense played better under Tomlin. He's got that swagger that you want on your team.

The media will discount our Defensive performance. The theme has been that SF was missing Brock Purdy and so this was an easy game.
However I’d argue that GB was missing Edgerrin Cooper and J’aire Alexander. Those are 2 very good impact players and when both are taken away it absolutely had a similar impact on our side.

There is no doubt that having Purdy healthy would’ve made a difference. It’s also a fact that had Jordan Love been healthy all year it would also positively impact our Offense.

Playing your QB2 is not a reason to fold your hand. I loved Kyle’s position when he didn’t blame it on injuries. I have a profound respect for him after watching his post game interview. He’s really a class act and you can tell he never once pointed blame at anyone but themselves. I actually felt bad for him he’s very genuine and he was hurting and it was tough to watch.

Many teams have games where they have to use their #2, some even use both. Allen had several seasons of preparation and had started in 9 games. He was their clear choice over Josh Dobbs, so it’s not like he’s some helpless QB either. Backup QB’s are much better prepared than we think and must to qualify as a #2 means you are a great Athlete.
49ers still have talent all over. Kittle, McCaffrey, Jennings, Samuel, Juszczyk are all good Receiving options. GB still snuffed them out by controlling the clock on Offense (2:1 Rushing) and that was limiting SF. However SF was still just 3/12 on 3rd/4th Downs and GB forced multiple Takeaways. Having Purdy would’ve helped in some regard, but it wouldn’t have erased our Run D and it Wouldn’t have erased Josh Jacobs punishing their Defense.

IF Purdy was out there the score would be more in that 34-23 type feel, but our Packers banged up D played pretty darn good against what’s probably a true 5-5 strength team.

It becomes a team game. Each unit feeds off the others. And that is what we saw yesterday. We pummeled the defending NFC Champs who were somewhat depleted. If they have all their weapons they play better but it does not guarantee a victory. Our guys were not around for all the postseason losses to SF that Rodgers experienced ( 4 ). But most were here last January. In some ways this was payback.

Oh yeah. Payback it was. I’ve never seen Kyle so… embarrassed? It’s the best word I can use. He hung his head low like a child that was harshly scolded and he’s such a decent person I couldn’t help but feel bad for him. That loss was humiliating to him.

Not just humiliating, but he probably knows his chances for playing in the posttseason are now very poor. That's a big blow for a perennial powerhouse that had Super Bowl potential.

He pounded us twice in MLF's first season. We know what it is like.

Hearing all these people talk about Purdy being out as an excuse is particularly ironic when you remember that SF having their starting QB out with injury is quite literally the whole reason Purdy got his shot in the first place, lol.
