There’s zero question in my mind that Rodgers purposely stuck it to the Packers.
They keep using Mahomes $45m In comparison, yet his contract extrapolated through 2029 (best case) would be the equivalent of a $35-40mil annual if it went through 2025. This new deal is easily a $10mil jump per season more than any other player in history. The guaranteed will insure he’s here 3 seasons minimum.

In all those years with Ted Thompson the Packers never seemed to find the money to get players and still pay out. I know they tied up a lot of money in Clay Matthews and Jordy Nelson but I never recall all kinds of cap games then. Now that does not mean the results are any different. My thoughts with Love. In the event of a Rodgers injury, he isn't going to take over the job and win a lot of games for the Packers, but who else would for what he costs us? So you stick with him, use him as your #2 and hope he develops enough to either be good trade bait or just another guy you keep around as your backup. He knows the playbook and the players, as well as the fact that he may still have a lot of room for improvement. If you trade him for a 3rd or 4th, what have you gained? You still need to replace him and if he walks away in 2 years in Free Agency, you may get a late round compensatory for him.

I always prefer a vet QB as a backup with a championship caliber team, but at this point, they are all in with Rodgers and his health and play will determine how far they get.
