Offer HC to Pettine, says he doesnt want to be HC...but he would take it...its Green Bay!. Plus Pettine would be more fluid take over, outside guy would need a couple of years for turn around to happen.

Would he take it? If the options are take it and stay with the Packers or turn it down and have the new HC bring in his own DC he might. One thing is for certain if he is let go he won't be waiting long for a call.

Either way the risk is losing a top notch defensive coordinator and we all know that just because a guy is a great DC doesn't mean he would be a good HC.

So your going to tell your brand new...HC he cant even choose his own defensive coordinator. better find a weak yes man for Gute to hire.

Well, you just told your brand new GM that he can't have his own HC so why not.

DUD: Rodgers! you could actually see Rodgers street-balling it in the huddle last night. "you run to the chevy and turn around", "everyone else go long." he's out of control. he killed his coach last night. it's over...he's a lame duck now. MM has his faults but Rodgers is uncoachable now.

It hard to listen to a coach when you have lost respect for him. I think that is where Rodgers is at now with MM, whether that is good or bad is debatable. And to be fair, MM has made way too many poor decisions and wasted enough of Rodgers prime years for Rodgers to feel that way.

And even if what you are saying is true, Rodgers not caring about MM does not make him an uncoachable player. Just uncoachable by MM.

Also, Rodgers was not the one to make the decision to punt on 4th and 2 with no timeouts in hand.

See, now I know you are just making this up because if AR was really just street balling he would NEVER tell anyone to run to the Chevy and turn around. He would tell everyone to go long.

i'm as ready for a new coach as anyone but Rodgers may be a bigger problem. disagree with the coach fine, but to flaunt it like he does is ridiculous and by doing so he's teaching everyone else to not respect him. that makes him a *****. i'm sick of him blaming player around him too. guys are open and he's ignoring them for big plays rather than moving the chains. don't look at stat lines...trust your eyes. he's sucking!

Mason Crosby is a huge *** dud
Ok boys, that is atleast 2 games he had opportunity to tie or win but missed kicks, with your disagreement does that mean you hold nobody accountable or just think there are so many other problems Crosby gets a free pass? Please keep in mind what he is paid to kick.

Fackrell - It is nothing short of AMAZING what a scheme change has done for him.
Was Fackrell a stud? Absolutely. The big plays in the stat sheet were in fact big plays, which is not always the case.

However, contrary to Aikman's assertion, Fackrell has not been "doing this all year". This was a career game, by a huge margin. Even in his 3 sack Buffalo game, 2 came in garbage time with one against a backup coming in cold, and one where he was unblocked.

He looks bigger than last season. He looks better in all facets than last season. He's even done a nice job dropping into short zone coverage. He's been a very solid player this year, not something we could say about him in the past. But it would be premature to call this an "AMAZING" scheme fit or some harbinger of great things to come.

I'm reminded of Erik Walden's second career start with the Packers in 2010, with 3 sacks, 11 solo tackles and a Defensive Player of the Week award, an "amazing" performance not to be repeated.

Beware the Strap moment ;):

All of you are missing the massive positives here.

It’s the last year of McCarthy!

Squeaking into the playoffs is not worth the risk of keeping McCarthy. It’s just not.

Is it MM or AR who calls the timeouts when the play clock runs down to 0 after the offense has been on the LOS for 15 seconds?

I am truly amazed at all of the MM defenders that are trying to blame Rodgers for this team's failings. I mean, just look at Aaron Jones; barely played until week 8 and now look at what he's doing. It's probable that the Packers would have a better record if MM had been willing to just give the third best offensive player on the team more than 25% of the offensive snaps a game.

We keep trying to pin point the offense problems, maybe its just all of the above. MM scheme and play calling, Rodgers decision making...protecting from the pick...almost to a fault. and the young WR corps...just not ready yet. its the sum of all things, thats why its hard to fix.

Oh trust me I would still draft a replacement or at least someone to bring competition, because our LB corps as a whole I'd still grade out as a C. But I think his performance this year, regardless of the circumstances, show improvement.

No, this is just.... true

I watched minimal 3 of the 5 sacks on 3rd down on instantly collapsed pockets.

No, it's not. Go back and time them. They were not nearly "within 1 second" as you so quoted.

The play in the red zone where Jones was open over the middle was a slowly developing play, but he had Jones.

The play on 3rd and 3 near the Seattle 40 was another slowly developing play-action pass.

Rodgers takes on average nearly 3 seconds to get rid of the ball, whether by intent or design. This is near the longest in the NFL. Most of the others near that mark are scramblers like Watson and Prescott.

It's just more of the same.

This offense is perpetually too slow. Everything takes too long to develop. They treat 3rd and 3 like it's 3rd and 13. It has run its course and it's time for McCarthy to move on. I wish him the best and I hope that they can find someone who will get more out of this offense than the sum of its part (not less).

And before anyone feels compelled to tell me-- I do realize that Rodgers was at fault at times last night too. He's not blameless in this by any stretch. But the partnership is broken and he certainly isn't going anywhere.

In Rodgers' defense, he really misses Allison, Cobb, and even Jordy-- guys that no where to go when the play breaks down.

While I gave you an agree I do have to say though, this is telling comment on Rodgers. It seems like all of his career he only plays well with guys he has played a lot with and trusts. Now maybe that is the same for all NFL QB's and I am just not aware of it. I understand this has a lot to do with knowing each other so well, you know what to do when a play breaks down, but AR possibly just needs to be more patient and less critical of himself and new receivers when things just don't go as planned on every play.

I also think that it's a byproduct of an offense that relies too heavily on receivers beating man coverage and does a poor job at times of scheming players open.
