I think Drayton ends up getting another year.

Our issues on special teams go well beyond the coordinator. There's a reason the unit has stunk it up for the past decade

Hasnt been this bad for a decade...a good coachsimply would not allow 2 blocked kicks to happen in the playoffs

Gotta move on and get something they havent tried before..a guy whose proven he can do the job at a high level in the nfl

The problems definitely go beyond coordinator but I'm not sure why you'd keep Drayton. Mainly though it goes to a refusal to use anyone other than backups with no real ST experience in all roles. Also, Wirtel is a terribly inconsistent snapper. There's nothing wrong with having 3 or 4 ST specialists on the roster. There's a reason Jarrett Bush stayed around as long as he did. And Janis was an outstanding gunner as well. He was even in the talks one year as a strong possibility for the Pro Bowl as a special teamer. I think he may have been the alternate. But TT never valued special teamers and Gute has adopted that view as well. He needs to change his thinking.

Coaches do share in some of the blame but IMO the majority of it is on the players since they are the ones on the field who blow coverages or opposing players figure out how to make better plays.

I also think as Packers fans we are expecting way too much perfection and I can understand and share in the frustration of many years of playoff losses.

How many field goals have been blocked in the playoffs so far? How many punts?

MLF told troy aikman and joe buck in production meetings leading up to the game..."well i just hope our special teams doesnt screw it up"

Its not perfection that is being demanded its simply competence just be average and maybe 1 of those blocks happens maybe but definitely not both...

There are surely other factors than just the coordinator, but that was the worst ST performance I've ever seen. And the personnel is not close to being that bad.

He must go. He's incompetent. He does not deserve to keep this job. Let him go be an assistant, develop, and try again.

I know nothing about him or the Raiders ST performance with him at the helm or why the Raiders are moving on. I suspect them moving on has at least something to do with distancing themselves as much as possible from Mike Mayock and John Gruden as it does with performance. Firing coaches now tells any new GM candidate and coaching candidate they will have plenty of decision making power.

So you think after the blocked FG Drayton was thinking "gee I wonder if I could get a second kick blocked in one game." I'm not saying he's a good coach but you make it sound as if he tried to get the kicks blocked. I think the players helped which can be partially placed on the coaches as well.

I can't forget Shanahan saying he thought STs was one area where he felt he may have an advantage which was so telling given that SFs STs was not very good last year either.

I'm not so naïve to think a new coordinator will automatically solve all the problems but STs has been an issue for a while. I have no idea who would be a good candidate but it is clear that Drayton must go (even if he is a scapegoat) and I would be leery about promoting anyone he had a hand in hiring.

Like I said in another post. Few fans have a clue when it comes to STs coaches. We just accept whoever they pick and make up our minds after we see the results.

I don't think a simple coordinator change will make them great, but it could and should make them better than "so wretched that they will account for a -13 point differential in a playoff game."

Bringing in Bisaccias right hand man....smart move!

Great move. It’s obvious we won’t make the same mistake again. That ST debacle resonated deep.. and it should have

I also think we might see 1-2 late day 3 draft picks used to target some high caliber ST help either at Gunner, Kicker or LS or PR or KR etc.. Give these ST Coaches some fresh talent to spark their squad. Replace the weakest links with strong steel

I offered my assistance. On two occasions by mail.. but no one listened. Not even so much as a reply that they got the message.

I gave them my resume, which include zero real life experience (other than I returned a few punts in 8th grade organized football).

You can become an "Honorary Packer Special Teams Coach". Just send me $300 and I will send you back your Certificate of Authenticity. Also, as a one time, special limited offer*, for an Extra $25, a blade of grass at Lambeau Field will be named after you.

*only 1-2 million of these are available and once the limited supply is gone, the offer will not be repeated for at least 1 year.

Finally. This is great news, let me start packing my stuff! :)I’m going to miss Mother, she’s has been just a blessing letting me use her basement all these years
I’m going to assume that myself being ST Coordinator can sleep there at the facility? Ah what what the heck, we can talk when i get there.

Love,
Yours truly,
Best wishes ..
OldSchool

PS. I’m going to miss my wife and kid.. hope they don’t mind

I'll keep her more satisfied than she ever thought possible. There's a market for kids in ... oops nm. We don't want the do gooders to know.
Well.. ok. She’s just a wee bit older than me (a spring 78yrs) and quite a fighter. Oh and my kid is 53 (step) and I had finally just about broke her stuttering, it’s too bad.
Boy oh Boy. Special Teams Coordinator, it’s got a beautiful ring to it. Should really propel my NFL career

PS. My wife prefers being called Spunky (you’ll find out why soon enough)

I’m really bored. I can’t wait for next season

Bisaccia wasn't available during the season

They low balled darren rizzi a few years back...he was also a very well respected special teams coordinator that would likely have put a much more competent unit on the field
