Even if the offer was insulting, it’s the approach this franchise needs. It sucks that it had to be done to Jordy, but that’s a way to set the tone, so to speak. This team is long overdue for a change. I honestly want Cobb gone too. Free up some space to bring in Melvin and trade for Darby. Draft Ridley in the first and try to sign someone like Pryor. This team needs change, and it’s getting done the right way. I love Gute so far.

Really sad to see a guy like that go he was a packer in every sense of the word. I really hope he does accept a restructured contract as I agree with the a lot of the other comments that with a good quatreback he had at least another season of good peoduction.

If Cobb doesnt step up this season he will be gone too. I'd wish CM3 would take the hint and restructure. If he still doesnt perform even with the new DC its time to cut him loose and save some money.

It was painful to watch Jordy last year. He couldn't separate and looked like he had lead feet. While he is still a good possession receiver in the red zone he isn't worth the big money he was making. Without a good TE opening up the field, the offense still struggled in 2016 when Jordy and AR were on the same page. It wasn't until Cook came back that the team went on the 8-0 run so getting Graham and dumping Jordy makes a lot of sense. Jordy was a great player but he is shell of what he was.

I know the move made sense in a lot of ways. Still hate it. He was the consummate teammate and embodiment of what it means to be a Packer Holding onto a shred of hope he can be resigned/comes back at some point a la James Jones.

So you are saying Vince was wrong:eek::eek:. I got the tar everybody...someone grab some feathers and a rail and we will run this guy outta here.
:roflmao:
I prefer the quote that was actually a real Vince Lombardi (that was not)
“The Greatest Accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising after you fall”
..Vince Lombardi

I’m find this far more applicable to the common man like myself. Heck you can even apply that to my comments! Lol ;)

Possibly, but I think Jordy feels as if he's still got some good football left in him. I'm not sure he would consider many teams, but I think he'd consider playing a year or two with Brady for a shot at another ring, if the Packers do indeed decide to move on.

I hope all of this is moot and that both sides come to a solution that's in the best interest of everyone. Bottom line for me, I want Jordy in green and gold.
Exactly what I was afraid of. Reports that the Patriots and Jordy have mutual interest. Ugh.

Who will catch more touchdowns in the NFL in 2018-19: Jordy Nelson or Jimmy Graham? I'd start the line at a push. If Jordy goes to New England I'd say Jordy catches more TDs and has more total yards than Graham.

Good question. That’s a telling compliment btw.
I’d say Graham partly because he is a big target with great hands and he has one of the most accurate QBs throwing it to him.
Its going to take Jordy a minute to get in sinc with his new QB and Aaron makes receivers look slightly better than they are due to his accuracy.
But given time Jordy is still good enough to surpass TE #s

I love Jordy but I would be surprised to see him catch a lot of tds in ne. He will not be the number 1 red zone target there. That is Gronk hands down. Cooks is their number 1 wr. Edleman will be back. White catches some to passes.

So Geronimo Allison will be back playing for us.

Sad to see Nelson go, but I'm excited to see more of Geronimo!

I too am angry to see Jordy's time come.

The poster who said watching Jordy last year was "painful", hit it square. It was time... He is just such a good guy...I hate to lose him. I hope he makes frequent visits to the Valley.

I do understand how you young guys feel though. I still despise the GM who let James Lofton leave. My son sees #80 and thinks Driver was God. I see #80, and I think James Lofton - NFL HALL OF FAMER and the best WR the Packers ever had.

They offered to restructure Nelson's contract, but only for the veteran minimum: https://packerswire.usatoday.com/2018/03/13/report-jordy-nelson-declined-big-pay-cut-from-packers/

Let's cut to the chase though, I hear a lot of moaning on here about letting Nelson go. He's an aging WR with a bad knee and an almost $10M salary for 2018. Did you all want a GM that held on to a Donald Driver-type too long, or a guy that sheds aging veterans before they become an impediment to winning?

Rodgers needs speed on the edge to open up the middle for Cobb and Graham. Nelson can't do it anymore. I respect a bold GM. I have zero problem with this move. I'll miss Jordy like I missed Double D, but I'm not in the camp of those that already think Gutekunst is making a mistake.

Would your Grandfather agree with your assessment;)

Lofton was the best Packers receiver I ever watched play however.

Grandpa would tell you Don Hutson was the greatest Packer receiver. He'd be right, of course. He played both ways, safety on defense. Now that's a cap bargain.

They've both been dead 50+ years, so I'd say....yeah...definitely...maybe... OK, since they and I share common genetics and they were both farmers ... probably no. Just to be contrary...:D
