I agree with you, which sucks, Kizer is, has proven to be and will continue to prove to be a better QB than Hundley, but how McCarthy handles him is directly BECAUSE of what he learned from not handling Hundley.

If Rodgers goes down again for the season, it won't matter if its Kizer, Hundley, Boyle, Hill or Teddy Bridgewater behind center.

He has Rodgers all season and misses the playoffs, but maybe not even then.

If the Packers miss the playoffs with Rodgers healthy it's all but guaranteed McCarthy is fired.

The guy has wasted years of having the best QB in NFL history.

Thompson is mostly responsible for it not providing the roster with enough talent.

Need more proof on MM's lack of actual impact on Rodgers? Where are the other "good" QBs he's developed? Flynn was great in the preseason, had a couple of good games for the Packers (small sample size) and then got beat out by a rookie in Seattle. Other than that I haven't seen this magic QB-guru business he mysteriously gets credit for.

There's no denying McCarthy deserves huge credit for developing Rodgers into an elite quarterback. It's nonsense to blame a head coach for backup QBs not performing at a starter level, just take a look at Belichick's track record regarding the matter.

His record without Rodgers tells the story. That's what has me convinced he didn't play a huge role in " Developing" him.

McCarthy being responsible for developing Rodgers and his record without him are independently of each other.

While Kizer may be number two on the roster for now, the fact they decided to go with Boyle at 3 tells me they're not banking on just one insurance policy should something happen to Rodgers. MM would probably still be a little more patient with him than he should, but I think he would get a shorter rope than Hundley.

The Packers haven't decided to keep Boyle on the roster so far.

You can say that about every team except Philly & NO.
Vikings handled the loss of their starting QB pretty well, as have other teams throughout the history of the NFL. The reality of the situation in GB and we saw this last year, the Packers have had to over rely on one guy (#12) and without him they are not all that good. Let's hope Pettine and Gute change that in 2018 and beyond.
