Whoa.. didn't see this coming. Will the Pack bring up someone from the practice squad to take his place?
Like I said at the time of the signing, I preferred Cook to Bennett, but was okay with the Bennett signing. But Ted Thompson deserves absolutely no credit for signing Bennett. It was either him or Cook. After Rodgers said that our top priority needs to be Cook, Thompson saved his own *** by signing Bennett.Any Thompson bashing on this one is just plain stupid. It was a helluva signing at the time a when Ted was being criticized roundly for not playing free agent roulette...this clown is just a chameleon that fooled a lot of people.
why? Cook didn't get signed by anybody till a week after GB signed Bennett. it's not like Ted was Scrambling to sign a TE because Rodgers demanded it. He made a calculated risk, like FA's signings are and it blew up on us. If you asked most fans across the entire league who they'd rather have Cook or Bennett in April of 2017, I don't think Cook would even garner 30% of the vote. I'm sure he'd get more than that nowLike I said at the time of the signing, I preferred Cook to Bennett, but was okay with the Bennett signing. I'm talking about what my thoughts were. No one else's. Although there were actually many that preferred Cook.why? And we thought the last time Rodgers went down was bad. This season has turned into a total s**t show.
Tell me how many times Aaron Rodgers has said after losing his last game of the season that 'x' player needs to be our top priority, and that the team needs to be all in as far as methods of improving the team. I'll wait.maybe many, but not nearly as many that preferred Bennett. Rodgers makes it clear every year he likes his targets and they come up on a contract. he always goes to bat for guys that were teammates. the rest you're just reaching to fit your own storyline.
Given that it was all in the context of the same press conference, I felt it was relevant to the conversation. Silly me.any more criteria you'd like to add LOL He always says he wants FA's back with the team. and regardless. Bennett was signed while Cook was still available. Cook was available for another week or 2 after. He didn't sign Bennett out of desperation or to cover his own ***. He signed him because he thought he was the better TE, and he was. About the only references I see to Cook not being signed and Bennett being a bad deal is that they hope Bennett didn't get hurt and miss half a season like Cook did for all that money. But now, everybody just knew that we "should have signed Cook" LOL
I don't know and I don't care to go watch press conferneces. Your assertion that Ted signed Bennett to "cover his ***" is a reach to fit your story line. Cook was available to sign for another week or 2. Bennett was signed because they felt he was better. Plain and simple. I'm far too lazy to go on your silly little hunt. How about you go back and read all the articles from around March 10th and 11th of 2017 and you gather up all the reaction and tell me how many were missing Cook at that time. Then show me where Rodgers was disappointed in the signing LOLGiven that it was all in the context of the same press conference, I felt it was relevant to the conversation. Silly me.
Lets try it a different way. Name one other time that Aaron Rodgers has singled out a single player and said that he needs to be the team's top priority?
If I were Rodgers I'd opt out of my contract at the end of the year and sign somewhere else where they have a competent GM that can build a Super Bowl contender that only needs a quarterback like Denver. I'd hate to see him go but I wouldn't blame him. Teddy has wasted away enough of his illustrious career. This is just another prime example of how Aaron Rodgers is so important to the entire franchise. If Rodgers doesn't get hurt, I bet my left ******** Bennett is still on the roster today. Free Agents already don't wanna come to GB unless they either don't have any other offers....or Teddy overpays which we know he's not. They come because of Aaron Rodgers, and Aaron Rodgers only. If Aaron Rodgers wasn't in a Packer uniform they'd be worse off than the Browns. It's already starting to show. If I were Rodgers I'd make these clowns in the front office pay me 60 mil a year.
When did I say that Rodgers was disappointed in the signing? I said that if Thompson wasn't going to sign Cook, that he better have made a splash signing. That was Bennett. Again, I'm essentially putting them on a level playing field as far as impact. I've never tried arguing otherwise so your comment about show me where Rodger was disappointed is totally irrelevant.I don't know and I don't care to go watch press conferneces. I don't have any idea what you're point is. I think you're just trying to argue because you just have to be able to somehow use this against Thompson, you must "prove" that Thompson was just "covering his own ***" LOL You said you wanted Cook over Bennett, Rodger's wanted Cook, and I'm sure Rodgers wanted Bennett too as soon as he found out he was going to be the TE, and Ted signed Bennett to cover his own ***. He didn't. he signed him because he thought he was a good TE. That was my point, is my point. When did I say that Rodgers was disappointed in the signing? Yeah...the guy fooled me too Aaron gets burt and he doesnt want to play anymore...unbelievable.
You could probably say the same thing in New England with Tom Brady. All of these silly fact ignoring arguments. The Facts are that Aaron Rodgers has been on this team not some other. We have absolutely no idea what the current roster wouod look like if he were not. Everybody keeps complaining that this team has been built around him.... yep it has.
You could probably say the same thing in New England with Tom Brady.
Off the top of my head...Someone tell me BB's record without Brady compared to MM's without Rodgers again?
It's 3-7-1 when Rodgers doesn't start. Throw in the two games he got hurt in the first quarter against the Bears and Vikings and it's 3-9-1.Off the top of my head...
B.B. record without Brady is 14-6
MM record without Rodgers is 3-11
