But what if he has a monster playoff run thru a SB win (wishful thinking) do we keep him then?

I think King will get offered too much money from another team no matter what for it to make sense to re-sign him this offseason.

If he's truly injured again and might not play today, I have a hard time thinking anyone is going to pay him that much money. He's a good enough player, but he's not a game changing player. I happen to think he's a bit above the average at DB, but suffers from a lack of availability. I don't think teams are going to pay that much for that. Now this could all just be some gamesmanship. Tramon was available, not a bad vet for depth this time of year. I think we got him because we likely needed some depth, but i'm hoping they got him because he was available, could return punts and maybe play DB. Also allowed us to use King's injury history to play some games with the opposing team and create uncertainty who's going to be lining up where. Unlikely, but a guy can hope. I also hope King is 100% because he gives this defense its best chance.

I'm afraid at least one team with enough cap space will offer King a lucrative contract based on potential while ignoring the red flags.

It happens a lot in free agency.

Agree. There is always a lot of pyrite available in free agency. No shortage either of people with more cap money than brains too.

King's performance vs. the Bucs might have resulted in not a single team offering him too much money though.

What does it take to get benched in a game? King was atrocious but why was he even playing in the second half? King could've just played his way out of the league but I doubt it. There's always a Bill O'Brien or Lafleur out there that will make a stupid decision. King will find another team even though he doesn't deserve it.

King 100% played the route incorrectly, and in my opinion underestimated the speed of Scotty Miller, but Mike Pettine deserves the bulk of the blame in that situation.

This is no endorsement of King because he played a miserable game, but Pettine's decision making in that situation was absolutely, 100% inexcusable.
