Is this the worst draft in this decade for the Packers?

Rich Wagner isn't Bulaga but he isn't chopped liver either. IMO RG is a bigger issue on the line. I don't think this was the best year for DL.
Well Runyon projects fine as a RG so at least we have some depth now.

The picks have been questionable so far, but it's impossible to say for a few years. I remember our 2015 class getting some good reviews initially by the "experts," only for that class to be a disaster.

Lets face it, only one of these picks will have any meaningful snaps in 2020, this is the worst draft in modern packer history.

39 WR's selected thus far in a very deep WR Class.

With their 2 7th round picks remaining, the Packers have so far picked 0 WR's

Going into the Packer last 2 seventh round picks, they have picked 0 WR's

I am definitely not defending Gutekunst's failure to take a WR, so don't take this the wrong way. I just thought this was interesting and wanted to point it out.

1st Rd: 5 WR's come off the board, and then SF trades up and takes Aiyuk before he gets to the Packers.
2nd Rd: Van Jefferson and Denzel Mims come off in the five picks before the Packers select.
3rd Rd: Ravens take Duvernay 2 picks before GB selects.

Now I have no idea if the Packers were going to take any of those guys. But in various ways, they were good fit, and they all got snapped up just before GB picked. So I'm wondering if they were getting sniped a little bit.

Gute had 2, if not 3 shots at starting caliber WR's and he didn't pull the trigger. I know you aren't trying to make excuses for him and it sucks if they just missed out on a few guys, but that doesn't forgive them completely whiffing on what many were saying was their top draft need, in a draft that was just absolutely loaded with options. Then sprinkle over the top of that they used their first 4 picks on a QR, RB and TE. Give me a fooking break Gute.

It all goes back to the Love trade. In my opinion, the Packers were going to take Love regardless if they knew they could get Aiyuk. Not going to let that operate as an excuse for the Packers. They were dead set on him.

Also - because Gute used his 4th in the Love trade, it compromised his ability to move up in the 2nd to get an impact receiver.

Additionally, Gute said he was shocked that Dillon was still there at 62.

It could be a simple case of the Packers getting sniped, but I’m convinced that wide receiver was not as much of a priority to the Packers as just about everyone else on the planet thought it was.

Maybe so. Gutekunst made the comment, I believe, that their board broke unexpectedly and led to the decision to take Love.

It certainly was not much of a priority for them. But I do think that they would have taken one or more of the guys who ended up going just before their selections.

This has been a very underwhelming draft to say the least.

At the end of the day, given the need and given the the depth of this draft at the position, it’s inexcusable to come up empty, in my opinion.

Agreed.... they wiffed on almost every selection
Just watched a piece that rated them dead last in draft performance and it wasn’t even close they said.....”historically poor” was the quote

This Draft puts Mark Murphy on notice. I see one player who might take significant snaps this year. The rest could be easily out of the league in 2 years. Simply inexcusable. I get if your board broke, but you're supposed to have contingencies for these scenarios. If this team misses the playoffs, with 7 teams getting in, heads need to roll from the top going down.

So what if Aiyuk got taken. Higgins, Pittman, Shenault, & Mims, were right there. You're telling me none of those guys were worthy of a 1st Round Selection? I'm not convinced Love wouldn't have been there at 30th. He could have traded up in the second if he felt the value wasn't there to take a WR in the 1st. But to continually just pass on the position is damning.

I can live with the Dillon pick, but I swear he would have been there in the 3rd. If not Zack Moss and KeShawn Vaughn would have been comparable. And still, had he not traded for Love he could have moved up!

The 4th Round KILLED us. I lost complete hope of saving this class after that.

We all understand that the 5th and later is a crap shoot. So we'll just wish these guys the best. I think Runyan and Garvin have the biggest chance to stick.

IM on drugs right? We didnt just draft a RB right? in the Second round? I mean Aaron Jones did slack a little bit with only getting 19tds last year!!!!!!! WHAT IS GOING ON.
How do we not draft a WR? And since we took a TE, how do we not draft Kmet? We could have had either Kmet or Claypool in the first round, instead we take Love ... WTF???

The packers were drafting as if they believe the 2020 season isn't going to happen.

Even then, I'm still shocked we didn't select an IDL or WR.

Because Love is a generational /can’t miss /best on the board necessity that is going to guarantee us immortality and regular visits to the super bowl for years to come
