Whether it's just an incidental result of genuine uncertainty or a calculated move, Rodgers' uncertainty probably means that the compensation coming back to Green Bay is depressed.

The less confident the Jets are in Rodgers' willingness to play in 2023 and beyond, the less they'll be willing to give up to get him.

I think/hope it’s likely the deal is announced tomorrow and I have no problem with that. If it drags out past that Rodgers is being an A-hole and we’re screwed. Hoping the former, won’t be suprised by the latter.

FWIW the Bucs punting on those three plays would have most likely resulted in very similar field position for the Packers offense.
A) were those 4th down plays? If not why would TB have been punting?
B) so the defense prevented a first down and took possession of the ball
C) those three interceptions were all on passes 35-40 yards down the field? I’ll wait for you to verify that but I’m skeptical

I heard unconfirmed rumors that Rodgers has already reached out to several FA players to recruit them to play for the Jets.
Now if that’s true he’s either bought part of the Franchise or he’s part of their team ;)

Of course I also heard last year they were doing away with Daylight Savings and it was initially changed because we liked Farmers. It’s all a downright dirty lie!

I appreciate you being noble and trying to defend him. Anything is possible. I just think things shouldn’t have gotten this close to FA. However it is a big move and we’re talking about cross country, so there’s that.
I'm not being noble, I'm just being honest. I don't think Rodgers has hurt the team with his timetable, up to this point. I'm sure the management have prepared for every contingency.

Funny thing. I remember a few years back there were some people in the media (like Greg Jennings) who were saying some things implying Rodgers might have some A-Hole in him, and everybody here was defending him, saying it's all sour grapes. And I was saying the same thing I am now, and the same thing I did with Favre, well now wait, he's a pampered athlete, it's no surprise if he's a diva. Comes with the territory.

And now I bet a lot of those same people who defended him are ready to string him up, for whatever reason. I'm saying just let it play out, it will be all right. I can't be mad at the guy for wanting to play for the Packers.

I just had a thought and I’m not sure why this didn’t hit me earlier. It slapped me while I was ordering Combo Fajitas tonight!
They had a “For 2” Special and it just made sense.

Is it just possible it’s a package deal with another Packer? Maybe Rodgers “timetable” is FA? Then both moves are announced and official at the same time?
Lazard or Tonyan or Cobby would be a natural fit.

Just another angle of why he’s deliberately waiting to make the announcement together. My guess is Cobby.

It’s not as much for just Salary Cap reasons ($5m) as it is to sign Cobb, who would be a slight upgrade, possibly cheaper and already familiar in the system. Also he’d have his buddy in NY

That’s a pretty good guess. There’s some speculation on one of the Jets forums about that too, although they seem to be leaning more towards Lazard.

Thanks. I didn’t even know about Berrios being cut this weekend. I just happened to look at the jets Roster tonight at WR and this article (in post #1107 above) popped. What’s the chances ?

Dilfer didn't perform when it mattered as he completed less than 50% of only 73 passes in the four playoff games during the 2000 playoffs in which the Ravens won the Super Bowl. It helped a ton that their defense gave up only 23 points though. And I'm not talking about one game but in all four games combined!!!

It's absolutely ridiculous to even compare him to Rodgers.
Try reading next time. The only comparison I made between Rodgers and Dilfer was that they have the exact same number of Super Bowl rings. But you go ahead and jump to whatever false conclusion you want, just like you always do, which is why most people ignore your nonsense anyway.

Quite possible, since there are rumors more than one Packer is involved. Guess we'll find out shortly, and if not maybe I'll jump on the outrage wagon.

I’m the biggest Rodgers fan you’ll find. But there’s no excuse for this. He flat out hasn’t been getting it done late in big games.

Well, just take a look at the fourth quarter interception Rodgers threw against the Lions. I firmly believe that Dillon not blocking anyone is a pretty good excuse for the interception.

To be fair I have been critical lately only because in January he said he wouldn’t hold team hostage if they wanted to move on, and here we are yet again playing his game. He is an incredible QB and from everything I see in interviews far from an idiot. He already know exactly what he’s gonna do-I suspect it’s all a charade that no one knows or he really is a narcissist.

I see no other options except those two at this point.

Andrew Brandt brought up another option:

You didn't understand the point I was trying to make at all. The Packers offense received the ball in similar field positions as after a punt (own 32, own 16 and own 24).

What's the point of bringing Dilfer into the discussion in the first place if you don't intent on making a comparison to Rodgers?

Oh for sure I think they know….I still wonder if Post June 1 is plan….not a fan of it but who knows.

Well, if the Packers, the Jets and Rodgers all know about what's going on why is the quarterback being criticized that harshly?

As a side note, I highly doubt the Jets are interested in waiting until after June 1 to acquire Rodgers.

LOL, because the man literally has said he would not delay or hold the team hostage - the man, to the best of all the knowledge out there, is absolutely doing that at this point.

Also, from a 4,000 feet perspective - personally I despise waffling in anything. It shouldn't be a perpetual thing of deciding to play or not, retire or not, take the new job or not, what place to eat....

I'm just purely exhausted of the ride at this point. I would embrace and be freaking ecstatic if the Packers and Jets announced Love is the QB trading teams and Rodgers is coming back - I JUST WANT THIS RIDE TO STOP.

You don't understand, if the Packers and the Jets know Rodgers isn't holding anyone hostage. The media and fans don't need to be made aware of everything going on behind closed doors.

Never said we should - only going off of the exact words he said and the fact this ride is exhausting.

it's all perception :). For me, they aren't even having voluntary workouts for like 2 months yet and real football isn't for a long time. Both teams know a lot more than us, they've both been making moves so they aren't stuck in mud, and whoever the QB is, i'm rolling with. I'm more interested in how we're addressing the right side of our Oline, 2 safety positions, TE(s) WR, DL than who our QB is going to start in September.

I am not sure how people don't think this is hindering the Packers in free agency. Even if they know what Rodgers is doing perspective players do not. A player is going to be less likely to sign with a team when there is uncertainty at the most important position on the field. I wouldn't go to a new workplace if I didn't know who was leading my division .

It isn't crippling us and the jets but it is definitely making free agency less clear for guys who are looking at the two teams. Veterans who wants a ring aren't signing with either team until Rodgers makes a decision

Rodgers has the right to take his time but also don't say you are not going to drag it out.

You may have to jump on sooner than you think. That wagon seems to be pretty full already.

partially true, but do you think GB is going to be a big player in early FA? that first week? with what? They aren't flush with cash and cap to spend this year. and in that 2nd round of FA, most guys sign for money. Actually, almost all of them sign for money. Offer them a good contract, odds are they're signing. regardless, GB has identified who they want and what they want to spend long before FA starts the tampering period starts etc. They know who and they know how much. They can talk. They still can't sign others.

So while this "could" hinder, i'm not sure it has hindered for the reasons I stated above.
