I can't help but wonder if the Packers hadn't reworked Rodgers contract early and all other things stayed the same, how much talk would there be right now about trading Rodgers?

There are posters around here that suggest to trade Rodgers even at this point.

What? He got 10 wins out of Matt Cassel, made Jimmy G look pretty good, and went 2-1 with Jacoby Brissett. If you ask me, Tom Brady looks good because of the offensive coordinators he's been given. I'm not a fan of Josh McDaniels but the guy is a great offensive mind.

Belichick probably deserves most of the credit for it though.

I don’t follow things closely enough to know much about all the different assistant coaches on the packers interview list. But I know I don’t want McDaniels. I admit that my objections to the packers hiring him are not based on any objective reasoning. He has been very successful with NE. My dislike of him is purely based on gut reaction to the type of person I perceive him to be, which is a selfish, entitled, ego-driven, pretty boy who believes in his own legend. Again, I have no basis to make these judgements because I don’t know him. As much as it pains me to say it, I’d rather have jerk-face Jim Harbaugh as the packers HC than McDaniels.

Anyway, should be an interesting next few weeks and months in packerland. I think I’ll grab some popcorn and watch.

LOL...I noticed that, I guess the $$ implications of doing that now aren't viewed as a necessary part of that equation for those who do. ;)

But I do think if Rodgers was still under his old contract, the discussion of what to do with him might be even more interesting than the current discussion of who the next HC should be.

I think you just eliminated half the NFL and college coaching candidates if any of those personality traits can't be had by your choice. ;) I also think Jim Harbaugh might have a few of those traits himself.

Gave you a 'Winner' not because I agree with your thoughts, but the honesty of it.

Believe it or not the evidence is pretty sharp to support that.

One of the problems is so far he's two for two when landing HC jobs outside of NE for causing drama when landing in them. There may be more than one reason and even a good one for his backing out of Indy, but it's a bad look for a guy who is supposed to be a serious HC candidate. Really don't think we can afford allowing this HC to get off to a rocky start if we're going to get the train rolling full speed this next season.

Second, I believe @Pokerbrat2000 had a post somewhere in here mentioning the criteria for a hc being a leader of men and showing he can manage situations etc. Thus far JMcD has proven the exact opposite. The man might know Xs and O's in New England but doesn't know how to take on the leadership roles of a HC plain and simple.

What are the odds of McDaniels taking the HC job and than convincing Flores (if he doesn't get a HC job) to become the Packers DC and assistant HC? I really like a lot of aspects of Flores, but wonder if he is ready to be a HC, the 2 of them together, could be a game changer for the Packers Offense, Defense and Special Teams.

EDIT: LOL, just read PFC's post above mine......wasn't me PFC on the posting of the criteria for being a HC.....but thanks for the shutout and the timing of our 2 posts were kind of comical. :)

With all the chatter about "coaching trees" I had to stop and think about Mike McCarthy's.

This image keeps popping into my head.

If McClain Stevens and the Grinch had a love child . . .

Never heard of him. Short on pro experience but he sounds successful.

I watched a few quarters of bucs games throughout this year and thought that Rodgers would really fit in the playstyle of that offense.

I have to wonder how many of these interviews being conducted, especially someone like Monken, are maybe setting things up for the new OC and DC as well?

So Bruce Arians has interviewed for the Bucs after saying he was not interested in Green Bay and was only interested in the Browns' job. Hmm.

McDaniels hired some good assistants with the Colts before he backed out. Eberflus was a great hire. Something to consider about him.

I’ve done exactly 5 minutes of research and I have made my choice.

Dan Campbell. Smart, tough, TE coach (and assistant HC) for the saints, who also played TE for parcels. Straight up. No drama. Will earn the respect of players, IMO.

Of course there’s not a chance in hell Murphy will hire him. But he’s the one I want.
