Have any of our rookies been standing out so far?

What has he done?

He's over delivered from expectation for a UDFA and to top it off contributed over 30 snaps on Defense in a playoff game...if he quits tomorrow he will have accomplished more than anyone expected out of a UDFA

Wow, that's nice. Maybe the problem is low expectations, when people are hoping for key contributions from UDFA's and thrilled when they overperform- for an UDFA that is.

I mean I could expect him to be our starting outside CB...but then I'd be sounding like some folks that a deemed mentally unstable haha!

Again, what has he done? You know, on the field when it counts. OTA's? Come on Poppa. I'm seeing a lot of 'disagrees', but nothing on what he's done. Again, hope he turns out okay, but to me, seems too limited to amount to much.

Gunter defended a pass and had a tackle in the playoff game against Washington. Once again, he won't be able to cover speedy receivers but has the physicality to line up against possession WRs, something the Packers have lacked for some time.

If he can contribute as a 'specialist'- in certain roles or situations- great. With the depth at corner, he may not get very many chances.

Gunter is currently fifth on the cornerback depth chart, meaning he's one injury away of getting significant playing time in the dime package.

I'm optimistic on Martinez. Hopefully he can hold his own , all signs are hes fitting in well at the moment. Still early days I know. Would be good if Matthews could go back to the outside.

Based on one preseason game against the horrible Clowns Sprigs showed that he could handle middling pass rush talent. The sample size is just too miniscule to make much of a judgment on the rookies. Based on that one game it looked like Lowry is in over his head and may be a project on the practice squad.

Lowry struggled against the Browns but it's far too early to give up on him being productive as a rookie. With the Packers having limited depth on the defensive line, especially with Pennel being suspended for the first four games, I expect Lowry to make the team.

Spriggs did good pass protection work against the Browns #90 Ogbah, the #32 pick in the draft. That's better than a sharp stick in the eye.

So Spriggs showed he can handle middling pass rush but it's too early to make much of a judgment on the rookies but Lowry looks in over his head... That really clears it up.

I thought "based on one preseason game against the horrible Clowns" and "based on that one game" pretty well established the poster's attempt to say that, while nothing firm can be stated, Spriggs' arrow is pointing up, Lowry's down. No big deal.

I liked how Brice has been playing so far. He won't be a starter but shows promise.

Unfortunately I just read that Kenny Clark has a back injury. An injury on the DL is definitely something that we do not need at any point this season.

Clark sounded optimistic he will be ready for the start of the season though. With Pennel suspended the Packers can ill afford to lose another defensive lineman.

Anyone know where I can find current stats on the famed 1 on 1 drills from the practices? I need to bookmark that sucker.

Haven't heard much about Clark since early in camp and now the back injury, he hasn't overwhelmed in the two games so far , but that is probably expected at this point, any other word on if he is improving after getting the late start to camp?

Gunter was very good vs. the Raiders as a corner (not looking the whiff on the blocked punt).

He was one vs. one against Cooper for a lot of the 1st half and didn't allow a completion for Cooper.

Kentrell Brice has caught my eye as well. I don't know if he'll make the 53 or is destined for the PS, but he looks like a keeper so far.

There are a few teams that are really deep on the DL (the Arizona Cardinals, for one), so perhaps on cut-down day Ted can grab someone off the waiver wire. Green Bay seems a little thin there, especially with Pennel's four-game suspension and two rookies we're absolutely counting on.

Possibly but I think it's more likely that Clark, Lowry and Ringo get fed to the lions early. I think mgmt is ok with going 2-2 in the first quarter of the season. I've always been of the opinion that it wasmuch more important to have the team playing well in November and December even if it meant having inexperienced guys playing a lot early on.

The coaching staff has already decided to play Matthews on the outside again in 2016 months ago.

What the coaches say months ago doesn't really mean as much as what's happening on the field right now. The coaches WANT Matthews back outside but if the ILBs are terrible then expect Matthews to go back inside because the Packers have decent depth at OLB.

Keep in mind that due to his school schedule Clark was behind most of the other rookies because he wasn't allowed to attend most of the offseason workouts.
