It's mind-boggling that you still advocate for the Packers to move on from Rodgers after him winning the MVP last season.

With the new TV deal signed the cap is going to skyrocket in 2023. Until then it might be smart to push back as much money as possible.
it's because i'm a Packers fan before i'm a rodgers fan. continued treading of the waters isn't what i want to see them do. purgatory. it's nothing to get excited about. it's meh!

so we should cut/trade Rodgers now and go with Love for the forthcoming season?

I am guessing you are saying this tongue and cheek. No matter how much we all want to think MLF is a genius and this offense is high powered because of him, Rodgers is the fuel that drives it. Remove the fuel and I think you suddenly have a bottom 5 offense.

So the only time I want to see Rodgers traded, is when Gute and MLF just honestly say to themselves "We just need to face the facts and it is time to hit the 2-3 year rebuild button, lets get a bunch of draft picks". The cap money that cutting/trading Rodgers creates, does nothing but allow the Packers to spend more, but I doubt even $40M right now is enough to buy a Super Bowl team that doesn't include Rodgers.

yes, it is tongue in cheek sir

I would absolutely not advocate moving on from Rodgers, even more so after last season. When it comes to Love, I'm thinking he's backup for the next two seasons and then a decision is made about Rodgers. I just hope that Love gets to actually play some real snaps, instead of just taking the knee in a garbage time win. and by that I mean, when it comes to those kinds of snaps he gets to show if he can do something in them, it's the only way we'll know if there is a chance that he's worth it

Sorry, I was pretty drunk last night and just venting. Just wanted to be honest.

No problem. Lots of people mistake
a restructure for taking less money. Sometimes players do take less after negotiating a new deal but its not common.

Sadly, it seems like those mop-up/teachable games are not very often, if at all. Some of that stems from having a defense that doesn't seem to be able to hold onto even a big lead and we just haven't been so blown out that the Packers threw the towel in early. Also, how much new stuff is the young QB learning in Mop up duty? Probably like a preseason game, he is playing with all backups, against backups.

Hopefully, we will have a preseason and Packer coaches and fans will finally get a good look at Love.

The coaching staff will have a good idea. They see him everyday. As far as us fans, it matters not one iota what we think.

Well we had heard early on that the Packers were checking in on a lot of corners and defensive linemen.

We can probably assume that King is the biggest/only investment that they'll make in a veteran corner.

The notable defensive linemen that remain:
  • Daquan Jones, 29: Jones has never been a playmaker, but he's been a pretty reliable interior presence for a long time. He has the size profile to help in a number of areas.
  • Jurrell Casey, 31: There are a number of big name has-been's on the market (Short, Atkins), but in Casey's place he has recent play that was apparently still strong. His only played 156 snaps in 2020, but from what you read he was still a good player in those snaps. And his injury was a bicep, so not something that you fear would end a career. He could be a good player on a rotational basis.
  • Ndamukong Suh, 34: Packer fans would probably struggle seeing Suh in green & gold, and it seems most likely that he goes back to the Bucs or retires. But all that said, he's still an above average interior player. If a team played him for, say, 500 snaps instead of the 1,000 he played last year, I bet he'd be pretty impactful on a per snap basis.
  • Lawrence Guy, 31: Guy has been a good run-defense specialist in New England for the last few seasons. It would be poetic for him to end his career in Green Bay, after they drafted him in the 7th round back in 2011.
  • Damon Harrison, 32: The Packers didn't get to see much of Harrison last year, but he can probably still be an early down plug if they want him to be.
All of these guys are probably better run defenders than pass rushers at this point-- the interior rush will need to continue to come from Clark, Keke, and Za'Darius.

This also illustrates why it's crazy to me that the Vikings have committed nearly 40M gtd over the last two years to run stuffers.

rumored to be a $10M 1 year deal.

Based on last years off season, getting Funchess back, as well as the success of the 2020 offense, I don't see the Packers spending much in Free Agency on a Wide Receiver. That isn't saying I agree, just reality.

I have been basically keeping my eye on the following list and its dwindling pretty fast.

Wide receivers
  1. Chris Godwin, Buccaneers (franchise-tagged)
  2. Allen Robinson, Bears (re-signed for $18 million)
  3. Kenny Golladay, Lions (signed with Giants for 4 years, $72 million)
  4. JuJu Smith-Schuster, Steelers (re-signed for $8 million)
  5. Will Fuller, Texans (signed with Dolphins for 1 year, $10.625 million)
  6. Corey Davis, Titans (signed with Jets for 3 years, $37.5 million)
  7. Marvin Jones Jr., Lions (signed with Jaguars for 2 years, $14.5 million)
  8. Curtis Samuel, Panthers (signed with Washington for 3 years, $34.5 million)
  9. Nelson Agholor, Raiders (signed with Patriots)
  10. Antonio Brown, Buccaneers
  11. Emmanuel Sanders, Saints (signed with Bills for 1 year, $6 million)
  12. John Brown, Bills (signed with Raiders)
  13. T.Y. Hilton, Colts
  14. A.J. Green, Bengals (signed with Cardinals for 1 year, $8 million)
  15. Sammy Watkins, Chiefs
  16. Keelan Cole, Jaguars (signed with Jets for 1 year, $5.5 million)
  17. Adam Humphries, Titans
  18. Danny Amendola, Lions
  19. Breshad Perriman, Jets (signed with Lions for 1 year, $3 million)
  20. Kendrick Bourne, 49ers (signed with Patriots for 3 years, $22.5 million)
  21. Larry Fitzgerald, Cardinals
  22. Golden Tate, Giants
  23. DeSean Jackson, Eagles (signed with Rams for 1 year)
  24. Josh Reynolds, Rams (signed with Titans)
  25. Chris Conley, Jaguars (signed with Texans for 2 years)
  26. Phillip Dorsett, Seahawks (signed with Jaguars)
  27. John Ross, Bengals (signed with Giants for 1 year, $2.5 million)
  28. Alshon Jeffery, Eagles
  29. Marquise Goodwin, 49ers

Found this in my search, I was wondering what all of a sudden happened to the once briefly a Packer WR.

Former Eagles head coach Doug Pederson was concerned about Travis Travis Fulgham's "work habits" during the 2020 season.
Pederson's concerns could explain why Fulgham -- after a blistering start in which he went for 435 yards and four touchdowns in five games -- was quickly phased out of the Philadelphia offense. Fulgham caught just nine passes over the season's final eight games. "Fulgham got into Pederson’s doghouse and never got out," NBC Sports' Reuben Frank said. Fulgham, Frank added, could benefit from new head coach Nick Sirianni, a former receivers coach. Still, Fulgham is unlikely to start the 2021 season as a top-three pass catching option in the Eagles offense.

Perhaps management let him walk her for a reason...one hinted at here by Pederson.

Watkins, Humphrey, and Jeffrey are all I'm interested in. I can't see Larry leaving the Cardinals so late in his career, and Goodwin has been such a boom or bust guy his whole career.

Jeffrey is probably the cheapest, but Humphrey probably has the most upside. Watkins definitely still has big play ability though.

The Ravens are reported to potentially be wanting to sign Watkins who was there yesterday. He was due to be in Indy today, but guessing with Indy signing Hilton, the Ravens might reach out. I think Watkins age and talent will make him too expensive for what the Packers want to spend on a WR. I see them more in the $3-5M/year range.

Big Dawg signing will make Aaron Rodgers VERY happy...and anyone not understanding the importance of Lewis to this offense is ignorant to football. This is GREAT news.

I have always liked Amendola's quickness and speed. But he seems to get hurt a lot. He can also run back punts. Is he too old now?

Lol, how can that possibly be true? At one point last season there were posters here saying that Gutekunst definitely screwed up by not drafting Fulgham.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Packers signed a couple of more cheapies to compete in area where we are thin in depth after June 1 as training camp approaches.

There was no need to draft Fulgham, the Packers signed him right after the Lions released him last August. I think he was only a Packer for about 10 days. The Lions had drafted him in the 6th round of the 2019 draft.

While I would never rule out a surprise signing at anytime by Gute, I do think that after the draft, we will see backfilling of the roster with some more proven depth (vets).

Come on Poker, you know what he meant.;)

Packer management clearly dropped the ball in the evaluation of Fulgham ...or did they?
