His miss was against Detroit in windy, cross wind conditions. He has been a stud after the last season and a half. It is nice to know our kicker is consistent. He does not have to be perfect. BTW, Karlson missed 3 for the Raiders today. By fumbling with 15 seconds left they saved him another.
You and Poker are right (I do remember that miss against Detroit, but that was truly lousy weather). No more anxiety attacks on FG and XP attempts.

I think this is the bet job Gluten has done in personnel management. Getting Jacobs and McKinney in FA, finding S Williams in the 3rd or 4th round., McManus, Edgerrin Cooper. I'm missing some but Gluten really has had a great stretch. And MLF has certainly made the most of it.

Eberflus fired today, at least he will still have that timeout in his pocket as he leaves Chicago.
I wonder if he tried to use it in his meeting with Poles?

Poles: Thanks for coming in Matt. I think we need to talk.

Eberflus: Hold on a minute there Ryan, I got this (digs in his pocket) its the timeout from yesterday. I'd like to use it now.

I bet he emptied his pockets of challenge flags during that meeting as well!

Considering he had a career record of 2-8 on challenges, no surprise those didn't work either to save his job.

I know the one area they have been pressing to get better is at DL. Not that they have not tried. Still looking to find that BJ Raji, that Gilbert Brown, that Santana Dotson that can dominate the line of scrimmage and force teams out of the run game. Maybe in the offseason we might find someone in the 4-3 mode that can fill that role.

I knew the second I said what I did someone was going to put him as a dud as a joke lol. Well played
I think McDuffie is just another player. He's OK as a special teams guy but I don't want him out there on defense. Like a lot of LB's he gets his tackles but he can't cover, blitz and frequently looks a step too slow. I'll take Wilson over him and when Cooper comes back, his snap count needs to go way down. The Dolphins made a ton of yards in the middle of the field exploiting LB's.

McDuffie brought the wood against Miami. He was hitting hard and fast. I'll take him. If he keeps it up; it will be hard to take him out of the lineup imho. He likes to mix it up.

FWIW Walker is finally playing better, my opinion, and with Cooper also on the field, it's a fine LB group.
He still finds a way to make some stupid play or other almost every game. That first Niner TD the other day was largely on him - he just stood there like a fire hydrant watching Kittle run right past him.

Terible decision. The kind of brain fart that could have cost us the game if the Niners had been more competitve that daty.

In the first half I believe we had the Fins backed up on a 3rd down deep in their territory. The Fins TE faked blocking and drifted out to the right flat. Quay for some reason turned backward to the middle because the QB looked there first but threw to the TE for a big gain. If Walker had stayed with him he may have made the catch but the gain would have been short. There was no one in the short middle to even cover.

You're still alive? Great job! What's the secret to cooking this way? Sounds fabulous.
I'm alive. Very very busy. I monitor everything going on still.

Its fantastic...watch you tube on how to do it properly. So easy.

Heat oil 30 mins? And to cook, it's 35 to 40 mins

Most juiciest turkey ever. It taste like chicken lol

Saying he was a stud in a game isn’t saying you think your team should have to start him or that you prefer him over anyone.

MLF took questions and I thought it was interesting that his thoughts about Quay is that he’s capable of doing anything they ask of him. He did mention that Quay is still relatively young overall, plus we switched Defensive systems in between his 2nd/3rd season.
In his first 9 games he had
1 PD
1.5 Sacks
4 TFL
2 QB hits

In his last 2 games he had
1 PD
1.0 Sack
4 TFL
1 QB Hit

So it’s obvious that Quay is starting to get comfortable in this system. While he’s not yet lived up to his Draft billing, he’s not a bad LB either imo. I kinda like his physicality. Our LBs have been a Big part of
#14 Yards per play allowed
#9 scoring allowed (tied with Chicago)
#8 Opponent Yards per Rush attempt
(Tied with SF49ers)
#1 Takeaways.
#14 Opponent Passer Rating

Overall when you consider we switched DC and Schemes and we’re 12 games in? I think we’re doing just fine and recent indications are the needle is pointing up. If we finish anywhere around our current 20.0 points per game we should feel pretty good with our Defense.

Yeah there is plenty of talent on the DL, but adjusting to a 4-3 can be hard for some guys apparently, like P. Smith. That's not an excuse. But Gluten may go shopping for a 4-3 DL stud in FA. Clark is getting older anyway, and while they are in win-now mode, FA is better than the draft - usually.

Thanks for the tips. Damn that's a fast cooking time. I have heard that it's very juicy and the secret with all deep frying is fresh, hot oil. (Tastes like chicken, yeah right......)

The home-disaster videos of deep frying a turkey happen when some bonehead thinks it's ok to drop a frozen turkey into the boiling oil. First thought wrong. The turkey, oil and kettle explode and the soffit starts on fire.

Anyway thanks. I'll try your method.

Need to keep Clark's contract in mind when shopping. (Forgive me if these don't line up correctly)

My feeling on our LB group;

McDuffie and Wilson: Very decent backups and occasional starters, but not ever going to be better than average.

Quay Walker and Cooper: Both still a work in progress, both potentially could be above average starters. Walker is running out of time to prove that he can be a complete player. Cooper has a good chance of being a really good LB, just needs more time, reps and development.

Ty'Ron Hopper: No real data, time will tell.

If the draft were today, I would expect Gute to spend another high pick on a LB. The current group is serviceable, but possibly the weakest link of the defense. Kind of a toss up between the LB's and the IDL for me. Both groups have their moments, but need to improve to be a complete to notched defense.

Agree. I believe that next season will be Clark's last season in Green Bay, at least on his current contract. Absolutely no way that you keep him in 2026 with a cap hit of $31M. That said, I think the contract was originally structured to give the Packers an out after 2025.

All that said, I think Gute and the Packers will once again be using Free Agency and the draft to invest in the defense. I'd prefer they go the FA route, Gute's high picks on the defense haven't really panned out all that well.

I don't want my turkey to taste like chicken. I want it to taste like .. well .. prime rib.
Prime rib is my favorite. Something that rivals it? I take a top round roast(get one about 5# on up), brine it overnight, then use your favorite rub to give it flavor. Use oak in your smoker. I put mine on for somewhere in the 4 to 5 hour range at 235 degrees. That's how long it will take to get the thermometer I stick in the center up to about 135 degrees. That's medium rare. The ends will be more around medium for those people who like to eat ruined meat. Anything more done than medium rare, in my opinion, is overcooked.

Make sure you slice it thin, against the grain, and prepare au jus, so you can enjoy it just like prime rib.

I might mention that for all those who think meat has to be brown when cooked, take the strips of meat, after it's done cooking, and brown them in a fry pan on both sides. That will satisfy that "well done" thing.

Good stuff.
So I think what’s important to remember is GM’s draft great athletes that fit. Fit mentality, fit physically, fit schematically etc. I see mentality as almost 100% transferable to Hafley. I see physically as mostly transferrable, meaning they might have went a different direction to get a better sized player in some cases. Schematic we have some players that can fit either a 4-3 or 3-4. However we have some players ideally suited and experienced playing in a 3-4 and that was intentional. So success doesn’t happen overnight is what I’m implying not that you said that, just offering that I’d expect at least 2 drafts to see us pop minimum. These guys now are just having some success because they grade high in work ethic, physicality. Once we’ve drafted 1 or 2 more times or aEd another FA OR two I’d absolutely expect a tick upwards. We’re #9 scoring in solid sample.
I think we can push Top #5 Defense in by 2025/2026

I’ll just offer that we haven’t talked about Hopper. The Packers were thick at LB when they grabbed a 2nd one on Rd3. Make no mistake though Brian expects Hopper to start one day. It’s just normal flow to earn your snaps by starting on Teams first.

Also I feel like with RB and iLB in most drafts you can get a good one in the middle of the draft. Call it RD3-RD5. Evidenced by Jamaal, #33, McDuffie etc. If you draft well that position often gets 2nd priority. Most Everyone across the league is QB/OLB/WR/OT happy.

Good to see Matt is as PO'd about the defensive offsides penalties as I am.

It's one thing to jump offsides, I can understand that happening once in awhile, but still shouldn't happen too often.

However, lining up off sides? Just stupid, lazy and really not paying attention to basic football. Whether I am at the game or sitting at home watching, I see various guys lined up offsides way too often. Wouldn't surprise me if Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel made the officials aware of it prior to the game.

Gotta clean up those stupid boneheaded mistakes!
