I'll just say it - I have ZERO clue why so many Packer fans continue to be so enamored with what Aaron does or doesn't do. I mean sure I pay attention to ex-Packers but not to the almost stalker level some are showcasing online (not necessarily here but man a ton elsewhere).
Eh... ya know, once a Packer always a Packer. Someday his name will be put up at Lambeau, he'll enter the NFL Hall of Fame, and, potentially have is jersey retired. Like it or not, he's a Packer for Life, Ala Favre.

Now personally individual plays don't mean a whole lot to me but others will see them as reflecting on on the Green and Gold ... good or bad. Favre's "recent unpleasantries" bear that fact out.

Yup. Rodgers somewhat "earned his pass" to be a ****** bag in Green Bay. While some of us criticized him for his BS, most turned a blind eye and said "but he has done so much for the Packers, who cares." He doesn't have that in NY. All the NY media and fans have is the promise and hope of having the franchises best QB since Joe Namath behind center. 4 snaps, 1 incompletion, 1 sack isn't doing it for them.
And the expectations in NYC aren't just for a deep playoff run. This is a city and fan base that has been conditioned, since the trade, for nothing less than a Lombardi Trophy. Something tells me Rodgers is gonna truly earn his paycheck this year. The Jets do have a lot of talent. Rodgers though is not Tom Brady. Well, who is?

And I'm not sure Saleh is the guy to get the job done. Whatever. GPG.

Well that explains why things didn't stay dark for me!

George Carlin said it, paraphrasing a bit. "Hey man, do you have any ****? How much does it cost? Wow! Must be really good ****! Whatever you eat, smoke, drink, or rub in your belly, that's your ****."

Funny, I just spent 10 minutes writing a well thought out comment about how once a player leaves the Packers I really couldn't care less about them. I deleted it because I realized some of the things I said were less than complimentary to some fans. Suffice to say I'm a Packer fan and by extension I like certain players but in most cases I like them because they are Packers. Except in very rare cases when they leave I stop caring about what they do.

I'm with you. If they just leave and stay quiet, there's no issue. Greg Jennings was a cry baby and never played as well once he left GB. Micah Hyde left and all he did was excel.

And I never would have said I'd cheer for the Celtics. But I think ex-Buck Jrue Holiday is a great, great person and I hope he snags another ring, Celtic or not.

Would have loved to read your thoughts. :)

I don't personally know any NFL player, so on a whole, I neither like or dislike them as a person. Most, if not all of my comments about a player are concerning what they did on or off the field and how that effects their team. I also acknowledge that I am relying on my eyes (watching games) and what I read, for my conclussions. Typically, we don't hear much about the off field things of most players, unless it was something really out of the ordinary. Social media has opened up a whole new world of that "information". Some correct, a lot incorrect.

In regards to Aaron Rodgers, he has become the NFL Poster Child for attention. Some brought on by his greatness as a QB, but a lot of it brought on by his polarizing personality and own behaviors. Let's just say this, Aaron Rodgers the man, has painted a pretty big target on his own back. Add to it, his passive-aggressive personality through the years and he has become an easy and sporting target for critics. If he was just a nobody in the NFL, he would hardly be a footnote in the news.

Aaron reminds me of a few casual friends that I have had through the years. Probably a fun guy to be around, have a few beers and shoot the shiot with, but as I got to know more about him, a guy I wouldn't seek to hang out with. As a Green Bay Packer (in my circle of "friends") I was more interested in Aaron Rodgers the Football player and how his off the field stuff effected the team. However, now that he is a Jet, I could care less about his Football skills, but he does provide all his "ex-friends" with great off the field water cooler gossip and with that, a sense of happiness that he is not long "our friend" to deal with.

The Holiday thing is interesting because my interest in BB is at about 1% and that will likely drop as soon as Giannis leaves the Bucks. The only way I know who JH is is because of Giannis. I kinda felt that Holiday was made a scapegoat for the Bucks failure last season. The trade for what's his name and how it made everyone suddenly think the Bucks were the team to beat and the subsequent trade of Holiday to me, in a way, was telling him he didn't matter even though with my very limited knowledge of the sport and the team I thought he was a very important part.

I have always felt like you did about the Celtics but only because teams that always win turn me off (unless its my team of course). I really had no other reason to dislike them. They are like the New York Yankees. When they win I don't like it and when they lose I do. When the trade of Holiday was made I didn't even make the connection at first with the competition between the Bucks and Celtics. I'll root for the Celtics just because of Holiday and because I felt he was slighted. Well that and I won't root for anything from Dallas.

I like watching the 4 majors in golf. And there is usually some guy near the lead that I'll root for. And then I think...I don't know a thing about any of these guys. What the hell.

Jrue Holiday is deserving of another ring. That whiny sissy Doncic and his equally obnoxious teammate Irving - no. And Dallas? Definitely no.

There's still NBA basketball being played?

I am with @sschind, once Giannis is out of Milwaukee, I will probably go back to ignoring the NBA. I wear my fair weather fan hat well when it comes to both the Bucks and Brewers. Too long of seasons for me to garner much interest, unless they are winning and even then, I wait until the playoffs.

Both the NBA and MLB don't get interesting until the playoffs. NFL regular season is interesting, but I've always been a football fan first. Growing up in WI, it's the Packers.

funny you bring up the Brewers as it was Christian Yelich who ratcheted my interest in MLB up to that same 1% as Giannis did for the NBA.

I helped coach my nephews in little league and I love Bob Uecker so maybe my interest in the MLB is more like 5% but still its a few people that cause it and to be honest I might have to ask is Yelich still playing for the Brewers. I check the standings maybe once a week and I'm happy to see them still leading the central but to be honest as long as they don't become an embarrassment like the White Sox I don't really care what happens to them.

I quit watching the NBA when they became hyper-political a few years back. Ironically, I started watching the WNBA when the Indiana Fever drafted Caitlin Clark (well, I started watching the Fever anyway - wow, what a terrible basketball team). Ironic because the WNBA is probably more political than the NBA.

2 cents...I like watching basketball playoffs. Too many teams get in the playoffs to make regular season worthwhile. And I'll watch the World Series and maybe a couple playoff games. I've noticed the Brewers are winning a lot of games. But they seem to lose to the better teams with probably better pitching. At least I think so. But playoffs look to be in their future.

Yup. It's hard to compete head to head with the big market teams that spend more on their starting rotation than teams like the Brewers spend on their roster.

Put in salary caps and shorten the season and I might pay more attention to major league baseball.

George Carlin had some great ideas on how to improve baseball, as well as other Sports.

Probably my favorite bit of his. Thanks for finding this Poker. This and the "seven words you can't say on TV", which got him arrested a long time ago in - Milwaukee at Summerfest I think. Thankfully, things have changed.

Agreed on NBA playoffs. Half of the teams are eligible for the playoffs, including the dull play-ins. It starts in April and ends in June. It's ridiculous.

MLB is a little better. It's not that easy, short of winning a division or conference or whatever they call it in MLB, to make the playoffs. I think there are two wild card teams, maybe more. Even so, I wait until the WS to actually watch. (I will watch the Brewers in the playoffs, maybe go to a regular-season game if someone has tickets. I was raised when the Braves were here and am still mad the owners moved them to Atlanta. Some grudges are hard to let go.)

As for the NFL, I liked the six-team conference playoff format better than seven. I just liked that the two best teams in each conference got a first round bye. In any case, the NFL playoffs are all interesting to me and I watch the playoffs from the start. But like a lot of people here, actually like a lot of people overall, I just enjoy football the most.

I would probably be much more interested in BB with the two changes you suggest - salary caps to create some parity and a season that ends on Labor Day. It seemed the Astros were in the WS every year. Although it hasn't helped Chicago much......

The playoffs, certainly the WS, can be played when it's in the 40s. In a Northern city without a dome, say Baltimore as a likely candidate, that's just way too cold for BB. And it rains, or sleets. Gimme a break. Have the playoffs start after Labor Day.
