QB (2)

-Jordan Love, #10
-Malik Willis, #2

Self-explanatory

RB (4)

-Josh Jacobs, #8
-Marshawn Lloyd, #32
-Emanuel Wilson, #31
-Chris Brooks, #30

Wilson and Brooks both looked really good last year, so I have them both making it. I think they want to emphasize the running game, so depth matters here.

TE (3)

-Tucker Kraft, #85
-Luke Musgrave, #88
-John Fitzpatrick, #86

Self-explanatory

WR (6)

-Romeo Doubs, #87
-Jayden Reed, #11
-Dontayvion Wicks, #13
-Matthew Golden, #22
-Savion Williams, #83
-Mecole Hardman, #6

Watson starts the season on the PUP. Melton and Heath get beaten out by Hardman because of his punt return ability. One thing that could change here-- I wouldn't be surprised if they trade Doubs before the season.

OL (9)

-Rasheed Walker, #63
-Zach Tom, #50
-Jordan Morgan, #77
-Aaron Banks, #65
-Sean Rhyan, #75
-Elgton Jenkins, #74
-Anthony Belton, #??
-Jacob Monk, #62
-John Williams, #??

This is pretty straightforward. I just have Williams beating out the competition for the last spot as he was a pick in a class that was much deeper than last years.

DT (6)

-
Kenny Clark, #97
-Warren Brinson, #??
-Nazir Stackhouse, #??
-Devonte Wyatt, #95
-Karl Brooks, #94
-Colby Wooden, #96

Last year, they started with 11 DL but the ratio was inverted (6 ends and 5 tackles). I am flipping it as I think they need numbers behind Clark, plus Brooks and Wooden can be emergency depth for end.

DE (5)

-Rashan Gary, #52
-Lukas Van Ness, #90
-Brenton Cox, #57
-Barryn Sorrell, #??
-Collin Oliver, #??

I'm projecting that Enagbare gets traded/cut before the season. The top 4 guys can all be relied upon as 3 down players and Oliver is the DPR.

LB (5)

-Quay Walker, #7
-Edgerrin Cooper, #56
-Isaiah McDuffie, #58
-Isaiah Simmons, #??
-Tyron Hopper, #59

I am projecting that the Simmons signing happens. Oliver could also be a backup SAM to McDuffie as needed.

CB (5)

-Kesiean Nixon, #25
-Nate Hobbs, #21
-Carrington Valentine, #24
-Micah Robinson, #??
-Kalen King, #34

I am projecting that Jaire is traded/cut, but I also expect one or more corners to be added to replace King.

SAF (5)

-Xavier McKinney, #29
-Evan Williams, #33
-Javon Bullard, #20
-Zayne Anderson, #39
-Kitan Oladapo, #27

Self-explanatory

ST (3)

-Brandon McManus, #17
-Daniel Whelan, #19
-Matt Orzech, #42

Self-explanatory

Good analysis, thanks. Only two things I would change - I think they only keep 3 RBs on the 53. Either Brooks or Wilson won't make it. Tough call.

The most worrisome group is CB. That's why I think they'll keep JA. The bet is that he is healthy and stays that way. Risky. But all the other guys listed have no shutdown traits.

For me:
CB JA and Hadden in, King & Robinson out.
DE- they keep Enagbare and Oliver is DE/LB so no Simmons signing.
OL- this is how it may very well finish the season, but to start a cheap vet signing or Telfort over Williams.
WR-Heath over Hardman. Not sure anyone would trade for Doubs before they see him back on the field in real games.
Not sure if you were talking about the opening day 53, but that is how I took it.

Probably correct. History also dictates that they prefer 4 TE's.

This didn't age well.

Thanks Curly. I didn't know they've historically kept 4 TEs. I think the line blurs for one guy who is listed as a TE but also performs the work of a traditional FB, primarily a blocker, sometimes a FB for short yardage downs. It seems like the Packers always have one guy around who is a combo TE/FB. Not sure who that would be this year.

I find myself rooting for Chris Brroks to make this team, but realistically he may have a tough time. If the Pack only keeps three RB's I would think he's behind Jacobs, Wilson and Lloyd, and then there's usually a camp surprise or two to complicate things. Brooks played well for Green Bay last year and seems like a good guy - I hope they can find a spot for him.

The Pack under LeFleur normally carries four TE's, with one of them being an "H-back" type. Part of that may be they like the athleticism that translates well to special teams (Tyler Davis, for one, has benefited from that in the past). Ben Sims will likely be a candidate for the fourth TE spot if he has a good camp.

It is also noteworthy that the 53 you break camp with is not going to be the 53 you finish the season with - So much happens in the course of a season.

Just my thoughts.

All good stuff, thanks Curly. I would hate to see either Brooks or Wilson leave. I just don't see the Packers carrying 4 RBs on the 53. And we still don't really know what Lloyd is capable of. His consideration as the #2 RB will subject him to plenty of competition in TC and the PS. Anyway, this will all come down to the last week, unless one of them is traded or released (unlikely).

I agree. Just don't see him clearing waivers, or at a minimum, it would be a close call. Still worth a try.
Not sure about that. Clearing waivers isn't as big a hurdle as many believe, imo. There are literally more than a thousand players getting cut at the same time and this RB draft class was huge which means household name RB's will be on the list of unemployed.

Good point. RBs in particular are pretty common and a guy like Brooks, without a lot of carries, may well slip through. And given the average short career span of a RB, it makes sense that there would be more of them.

Timing is everything...When all the teams are making cuts at the same time and scrambling to get down to 53, the odds of a player clearing waivers is a lot better.
