I could be completely wrong but most contract sites do not list any cost to him last year? Opting - Out I thought meant nothing went his way but shifted entirely to this year?

Funchess counted a total of $50K towards the Packers cap last season because he received that money as a workout bonus. The rest of the deal he signed was tolled until this year. But he was paid a signing bonus of $1 million at the time of the signing, which will count against the Packers cap in 2021.

According to Over The Cap, he signed a revised one year contract this week with a contract value of $1.8 million with another $300K guaranteed via signing bonus. He agreed to remove the $3.75 million incentives from his original contract though and can earn $300,000 through per game roster bonuses.

If that's true the Packers didn't save any cap space by the move.

Appreciate it, that makes sense precisely how the chips changed.

Funch looks to be in great shape in his BBall vids on Twitter. Cautiously optimistic for this guy to make the roster.

Oh he will make the roster, WORST case he makes EQ's make it or break it year with us end early, BEST case he pushes Lazard's role given both similar possession type guys and in the end proves into a contract here or elsewhere in 2022 and Lazard grows in the process and maybe stays.

I'll predict minimum one of either Lazard or Funchess sign a 2 or 3 year deal after 2021. I lean to it being Funchess personally as I feel he will be cheaper given age difference and organization may let Lazard leave and have the similar WR type in Funchess....all of this is if he shows dependability and reports well with Rodgers.

I see no reason he couldn't provide 500 yards, 5 TD type season.

Interesting take. I suspect it will be difficult for Funchess to mesh well with Rodgers. I suspect he won’t win a roster spot but I’m admittedly not a huge fan of him.

Taking a pay cut means he's on a one-year 'prove it' contract and should be motivated. After nearly two years of not playing, he's going to need to have a good camp to stick.

Let's wait to see draft class, but unless we draft a high profile person I 100% am confident he makes roster without a doubt.

We draft a Bateman, Collins or big possession style there is a chance he doesn't.

You have to consider that Funchess hasn't played a snap in two seasons though. It's close to impossible to fairly evaluate what he's capable of at this point.
