What the hell is going on? DB is hands down the best LT in the world and for 3 years in a row he is again an "alternate." He may even be the best offensive lineman overall too. Did he **** on Goodell's petunias or something? Makes no sense at all.

What do you expect from a fan vote?

Rodgers and Brady are in the Pro Bowl, which is ridiculous. Only serious award is the All-Pro.

Rodgers in made me shake my head and confirmed to me what I did already know: The pro bowl is a fraud. There is no way in hell anyone, even the most biased Packer fans, can agree with him getting to the pro bowl this year

If this team was heading towards a super bowl, they'd all be singing his praises in the national media and he'd be in. But we're not and for much of the past 3-4 years the only drum they beat about the packers nationally is how everyone else on the team fails to help Aaron Rodgers. When you're voting in a popularity contest, it doesn't help. Rodgers doesn't deserve to be there this year and his LT does. But that's not how popularity contests work. Has nothing to do with merit.

although it's nice, he doesn't need to free trip to Hawaii to validate anything. his validation has come by being named all-pro multiple times...and he's only 27. besides...there will be guys who can't, or won't, go so he'll get his trip if he really wants to go.

I should just brush off the Pro Bowl rosters, but remember that voters are still going to use them for HOF cases.

Bakhtiari is not only an alternate, he's a second alternate. Same with Clark. It doesn't help they have played on a losing team the past two years.

Most Pro Bowl names seem to be sound choices, but there are always a few that get in on reputation while some younger players are overlooked.

All Pro, with the AP version the most commonly cited, is a better measure. But how deeply informed can those voters possibly be as to the performance of all players on all teams based on first hand observation? Not at all. They are probably in tune with professional and media concensus, but it seems that consensus is increasingly informed by PFF and advanced analytics. While that is better than a glace at the stat sheets and a shot in the dark, which is what you get with fan voting for Pro Bowl, I remain skeptical that All Pro gets it as close to right as is generally recognized.

You have to ask how well informed are the players on the performance of guys they have not actually played against. Madden seems to be a popular entertainement among some number of players as with fans. Are some drawing their information from the game?

Is the pro bowl back in Hawaii? Dang it!! I’m going to be elsewhere this year! They had really cut down on events and player access lately tho. Used to be GREAT to go to the practices!!

The Pro Bowl was last played in Hawaii during the 2015 season. Orlando will once again host this year's game.

Pro Bowl LOL.....Is that still a thing? I honestly would probably have more fun and actually tune into watching all these players Bowling or competing in 3 legged races. There really isn't a lot of "Football" played in these so called Pro Bowl games.

How about 3 legged bowling. At least everyone would know the league intends it to be a joke from the start.

whatever. shows how long it's been sinse i've paid any attention to it. it also shows the nfl doesn't even value the game the way they used to. orlando? that's an eye-roll from the nfl. lol

Well, Orlando is the largest TV market in the United States without an NFL team. With that being said I don't care where they play the Pro Bowl as I'm definitely not gonna watch it anyways.

So does the 40 foot high manure pile down the street from me. ;)

Never heard of it until now. Maybe it needs it own thread.

In the past I think we paid less attention to the pro bowl because we were hoping not to get to see our guys in it anyway. The last two year it hasn't been the case.

I still think its great for the players to get the recognition even though much of it is a farce but I honestly can't recall ever having watched one. Football doesn't hold much interest for me once the Packers are done. I'd say the odds of me watching a playoff game this year are less than 50/50

I felt the posts in this thread about how horrible the game is constituted a lot of discussion about the game. Apparently not.
