The Bengston years. How could we forget? But after Lombardi, there was nowhere to go but down. In the case of Phil, just not THAT far down..... I’d rather see someone from outside the Packers organization. GB desperately needs a new perspective from the next HC.
Agreed. I don't want to see any "Promote Philbin" posts. If you hire in house, such as a McCarthy disciple like Philbin, what makes you think anything will change? Philbin was a colossal failure in Miami. You need to completely sever ties with everything McCarthy.

Funny isn’t it how unproductive the BB “coaching tree” has been? BB IS the stick that stirs the drink. Still, it’s odd that all those ex-Pat coaches wouldn’t have learned something.

One of them's bound to be good. They said the same thing about how all Jim Tedford quarterbacks never pan out in the NFL.

What do you think of us hiring Joe Lombardi as our next coach???

Lombardi has done a good job as the Saints quarterback coach but struggled calling an offense with the Lions as they averaged only 20 points a game in 2014 and part of the '15 season. No, thanks.

I say Jim Harbaugh would be good. Someone I believe would garner Rodgers’ trust and someone posted earlier would bring energy to the team. Plus,he wears out his welcome after several years and by that time and a couple super bowl wins later,he will be gone and Rodgers will retire.

And then back to .500?

I would welcome either Harbaugh, I'm just not sure Jim would leave Michigan so soon. John seems more likely. My question would be who would be our OC? Alex Van Pelt? Maybe he's part of the issue behind his "struggles"? Gary Kubiak or Rod Chudszinski I would love. Or as a dark horse candidate Greg Roman

My thinking is that we will definitely need a strong willed, I don’t care who the qb is, type head coach to reign Rodgers in some. Not a young guy who may be intimidated by Rodgers and therefore will in a sense let Rodgers dictate how he wants the offense run.

Would that be so bad? For the twilight of his career, I wouldn't mind seeing him have it his way and see how far we can go. He acknowledged that Jones should run the ball more, so he's obviously not going to just throw it 55 times a game Drew Brees style (although if we had the WRs for that kind of scheme then hell yeah). So an OC who can take AR's approach and style, and turn it into a creative and winnable game plan I don't see why not. As a matter of fact, Van Pelt seems like the best man to make that happen.

There isn’t a coach on the college or pro level regardless of their current status with their respective teams that wouldn’t at least think “damn. Coaching Rodgers for the last several years of his career??”

The sky is the limit on the coaching options.

Remember, we try to lure players with that "You get to play with AR" lure. It hasn't appeared all that effective. I'm weary on if that angle works with coaches.

that harbaugh can stay in MI.

Agreed and I doubt Jim Harbaugh is going anywhere either. 2 wins away from competing for a National Championship, although good luck against Alabama. I'm think Alabama and the Cleveland Browns should flip flop leagues. :coffee:

He will be coaching there until Tom Brady retires and heads to his Alma mater for his first coaching gig.

I agree, not only was Philbin a bust, but the locker room was pretty much out of control with Richie Incognito and the tormenting of Jonathan Martin.

I doubt Tom Brady coaches, unless he can bring TB12 legally under NCAA regulations to UM. But I don't see him coaching regardless.

I want a young OC. I love Pettine, and I think he will be crucial for this defense. We need a HC that is open to multiple different looks offensively. I am so sick of calling our plays at the line of scrimmage, watching Rodgers change it and knowing what he audibles too. Mike McCartheys offense, Joe Phillbins offense and Aaron Rodgers offense is so predictable. All three of them. I want a guy thats ready to actually capitalize on what Aaron Rodgers can do. We also need some more athleticism on that side of the ball. I expect Gute to continue to look for athletes in this years draft. He gave us some ballers on defense, I want another RB to pair with Jones.

Jim Harbaugh is a mental case. Why would anyone of sound mind want him to be the Packer head coach? He has done nothing at Michigan until this year and the year is not over. I'd like to see Lincoln Riley the Oklahoma Sooner coach as the Packer head coach. NFL coaches consult with him! He would need to surround himself with veteran NFL assistant coaches. He's young, but knows the game. The Dallas Cowboys will probably get him.

He's an old man compared to Sean McVay. ;)

I think I have decided on 2 guys for the HC job.

1.A Josh McDaniels. He is extremely creative with his game plan and will change it for each opponent. He should be able to do quite a bit with the talented wr's an rb's. He will need a go to slot guy though. I don't think he will take any crap from 12 and will get him reigned in. He also has experience working with an aging Brady. Everyone is in love with the KC offense but I don't want a mid 30's qb running it. 12 would last all of 3 games. He and Gute seem to have some kind of relationship as well which helps. I think he keeps Pettine as well.

1.B Joe Lombardi. What he does with Brees would work well with 12. I think an offense similar to NO but adaptable to the outdoors and colder weather would be a solid option. Obviously the name and lineage would make it cool. He seems like a good leader of men. That is probably the only thing that worries me about McDaniels is that he is more of a mad scientist than a general.

GB desperately needs a new perspective from the next HC.
How about this perspective that surfaced over the weekend?
ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news that the Cleveland Browns were interested in interviewing former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for the team's head coaching job.

She immediately denied her interest but the idea busted the box open.
Dear Danica,
I heard you were out of work. Can you control your man? Would you be interested in breaking another gender barrier? Can you separate personal and professional interests?

That's certainly some "outside the box" thinking. maybe that's what we need here? :)

Josh McDaniels is NOT leaving New England. Is that so hard for people to understand?

Just got an email about Exclusive Shareholder Merchandise. I hope Mark Murphy still has time to pay attention to what's going on with the team this season, given all these other extremely important things he's working on...

Did you "gift" the Packers $39.95, plus shipping and handling for the 3 cent piece of paper?

If you did, I have a Bridge deal I am working on and happy to send you details. :coffee:
