I’m sure it’s a bit sometimes. It’s also a very real phenomenon. Extremely aggressive progressives with heavy online presence do push for people to get deplatformed for thinking or voices views that they don’t like.

I don’t think Rodgers will get cancelled. But it’s not like he’s bringing up a fake trend. It’s a very real thing.

Weird that "repercussions from my actions" is now called "cancelled culture".

I would not say that judging by some of his comments today and how he appears to live his life with some privacy. I would call him more of a libertarian. He believes in the best of both but will be against the worst of both. He would be the guy who would join a third party if the other two left him in the cold.
speaking as a registered libertarian, i would agree that he appears to have some of the same beliefs.

People who think cancel culture is fake and people who think everything they don’t like is cancel culture are really the same.

The major problem around this issue, to me, is that both sides feel convinced and supported in their positions by their sources and evidence, and neither side trusts the other’s sources.

So Side A says “I believe X and here’s my link.”

Side B says “That link is crap! Only a moron would believe that. I believe Y and here’s my link.”

And Side A responds “How could you be so stupid as to believe such a biased source?! You’re as dumb as [insert whatever group they really despise]!”

And it’s just an impasse.

One of the main roots of this problem is that sources of information have become so politicized in what they choose to share vs not share, and how they choose to share it.

So there’s not so much an unwillingness to trust expertise as an unwillingness to trust honesty.

For instance, I 100% believe that Fauci understands disease control and pathology a thousand times better than I do. But he’s lied so many times and even admitted it that I don’t know when what he is saying is true and should be followed vs when it’s a lie intended to manipulate my behavior. So I just tune him out. WHO, same thing. They’ve undermined their own institutional credibility,
Very true assessment. People see through all that.

Cancel culture refers to when those repercussions are severe and the actions didn’t deserve punishment.

Like when Disney canned Gina Carano for thought crime.

That’s different than getting let go because you committed a real crime or said something horribly abusive to someone.

Why wouldn't other people in a closed room need to know the unmasked person speaking isn't vaccinated? Do media members hold their breath the entire time?
the nearest person to him was what - 15 feet away? the members of the media were in more danger from each other than from rodgers.

He appears to be independent. And certainly he is not a bandwagon jumper. I think that is why he could make a very good Jeopardy host after football. In this day and age objectivity and impartiality are in short supply.

Anyone who utters the words 'woke' or 'cancel culture' is already a giant ******.

And among those douches, Aaron Rodgers is vast beyond comprehension.

I very much hope this is his last year in Green Bay.

Rodgers said that he spoke with one of the league's doctors who told him that vaccinated people can't get or spread covid.

The league denies that he ever met with one of their doctors.

Someone is lying.

I watched most of the interview and found it interesting that none of the talking heads mentioned that Aaron is allergic to the vaccine.

When it comes to the media, we all know that we get the info that they want us to get. If you want more information, you have to do your own research.

I struggle with this because on the one hand, I think Rodgers is smart enough not to lie on the league given that they could be in a position to really reign down on him, especially if they feel particularly attacked. Additionally, I don't think there's a single low the league wouldn't stoop to in order to protect the shield.

On the other hand, Rodgers could've definitely threw that in there to try to strengthen his stance, thinking that he wouldn't get called on it.

Not sure there's a way to substantiate it one way or the other.

Yeah I have no idea. I can imagine both parties lying. Rodgers to strengthen his defense and the NFL to save face over a doctor saying something embarrassing to them.

I'm sure people will believe whichever suits their priors.

The main points that Rodgers made about why he didn't get the vaccine is more than reasonable. And it's also, imagine this, his right to decide not to get it.

Like @Mondio alluded to, everyone that should have known or needed to know about his vaccination status knew about it. But because spoiled *** media members and fans feel like they were left in the dark, it's time to bury the guy.

His vaccination status is absolutely no one's business but his and his employer/colleagues.

Also, if these pretentious, self righteous reporters and media members are as smart as they claim to be, why didn't they follow up on Rodgers' statement when he was clearly asked the question are you vaccinated and he says I've been immunized.

Everyone in that room should feel stupid for not following up on that when they had the opportunity, if it was so important to them.

Anyone with kids in school (at least in VA) understand CDC guidelines and Covid “mitigation” and mandatory quarantining is a joke.
Same here, It's why much of the mandatory quarantining in schools has been done away with around here. Now a lot of places that maybe didn't even have school last year are trying it again? But here they are not, they had almost 6K in one district alone where they found it made zero difference. At least as far as close contacts etc. Symptoms (multiple) and +test are reason for quarantine or + test with a sibling and not testing the other. That's it.

maybe i misheard it but i thought he said that it was during his appeal of the nfl's initial rejection that the nfl presented him with a document that said vaccinated people could not get or spread covid and that was when he knew he would not win the appeal.

"Thought crime"....HA! How about, "There's a large segment of our viewers that won't watch a show you're in because of your views so we're letting you go. Fixed it for you."

Thought crime....where do people come up with this stuff?

Hooray, you just compared two completely things to try and make some point that fails miserably when anyone who thinks rationally examines it! First, covid is far more deadly than the flu. Two, "won't take whatever the government tells them to" is completely ridiculous because I am 100% sure that the VAST majority of those whining about the covid vaccine didn't research any of the numerous vaccines they got in school before getting those vaccines, or even understand what's in Tylenol. Third, I'm baffled as to what other evidence people need since it's been shown that the covid vaccine only lasts a few weeks in your system before breaking down and being destroyed by the body's immune system; there's literally nothing IN the body from the vaccine to have a long term effect aside from the antibodies that are naturally produced by the body. That is a difficult concept to understand though when you don't trust experts or doctors who understand how the body functions and prefer to believe politicians and podcast hosts.
I compared completely different things? It's ok when people like you bring up the polio vaccine? Spanish flu(H1N1) killed 50 million in the 1920s fast forward, flu continues to kills tens of thousands yearly, we still don't have a vaccine for the flu but out of the blue we have a Covid vaccine that was created using Sars(or whatever) strain within a year? Geee how convenient! Questions if this was created in a lab and it's easier to make a vaccine compared to the flu strains.

As I said in another post, not all rules made strict sense, many of them were to over-correct because humans often make stupid choices. I'm just confused why you're arguing that a player doesn't have to obey rules his union agreed to.
