Read a report that J’aire Alexander (knee) and Edgerrin Cooper (Hammy) both missed practice Thursday. From what I understand Cooper’s injury was related to him practicing. Anyway not a good initial report. Here’s hoping to this being out of an abundance of caution.

Alexander will probably sit out again. I hope Cooper can go. The Niners are banged up as well but their experience with go to guys can kill us.

If this game was a month ago I feel good since McCaffrey was not back. He is not 100% but he is still dangerous. Now that Kittle is back it gives us a lot more to contest. If Deebo and Ayouk are playing the 9ers could get back to where they were last year. They have lost close ones like us.
Agree. I remember several weeks/ 1month ago looking ahead to this game. I think the 49'ers were about to play the Chiefs, I stated that I wanted the 9'ers to loose all their games, including the one against Dallas. That way when they came to GB, they would be almost eliminated from any playoff talk. I also knew that once the 49'ers got some of their injured players back, they would be a better team. They went 2-2 and lucky for them, their condference is all ~.500 teams and they are 1 game out of 1st.

Long story short, the 49'ers see this as a huge game. The Cardinals and Seahawks play at the same time as the Packers and 49'ers, too early to scoreboard watch, but the West could be sitting in a 4 way tie (all teams 6-5) after Sunday, if the Rams, Seahawks and 9'ers all win. Let's make sure that doesn't happen. :)

I think this is a must win game, 8-3 and a 3-0 record vs the West would add another notch to the tie breaker belt for a Playoff seed. Not to mention, beating the 9ers will help with the psyche of the boogeyman they have become to this team. These young guys need to flip the script that the teams of yesteryear couldn't.

Well. I think it’s almost official. Our best CB and best LB are going to be out. I will say we should see more of Wilson and McDuffie and both are experienced LB’s. That said, I don’t like our star CB missing more time, especially against a dynamic Passing game.

Guys are going to need to step up. That goes for our DL and Safety group.

We are going to need Jordan Love and our Running game to be on point. No slop fest on Sunday.

There is another Chink in their armor for SF is their ST unit. They’ve had their share of blunders this year. Our ST needs to be challenged to win the day

On the other side… Nick Bosa and Trent Williams were both DNPs again today.

Since the line has moved from GB -1.5 to -3 makes me believe certain people believe Bosa and Williams may not be playing.

He himself has said he needs more than 21 days of no contact. Let him heal up and hopefully have him 100% for the stretch drive.

If anyone needs any more cause to throw records out in rivalry games….enter Cleveland last night.

On any given....Thursday.

I tuned in to see how the Steelers were using Preston. Seems the same way as the Packers. Put him in when you want a big body roaming aimlessly away from the tackle. :coffee:

I'm a big Preston fan, but I think his days are winding down. I noticed that Nick Herbig (former Badger LB) was in there playing a lot more than Preston.

BTW....why do so many teams have an ex-Badger LB and the Packers don't? TT tossed a 3rd rounder at one of the least successful Badger LB's in the NFL, Vince Biegel.

I think all of their injured guys are going to play, but doubtful any of them will be 100%

I am still pissed TT took King over TJ Watt...

John Lynch just said this morning said Purdy's shoulder MRI was clear but that his status for Sunday is "tenuous." Brandon Allen would get the start if Purdy can't go. Typically, the starting QB is available for media interviews on Thursday heading into the game. They didn't make any QB available to speak yesterday, so if history is any precedent it would suggest that they truly don't have a starter decided on. From what I can gather, he more or less took warm up throws, had the trainers check out his shoulder, and they called it a day at that point. Does not sound super promising.

I wonder also if the Purdy and Williams injuries might play off of each other a bit. If Williams can play then I could see them play a less-than-100% Purdy. But if Williams can't go or is seriously limited...then I can also see a strong case to be made to protect your less-than-100% QB instead of having him out there with a patchwork OL missing its best player. For that note, yesterday Shanahan did say Williams is "in jeopardy of not playing"

Sounds like Bosa is a big doubt too. Of note, former Packer Jonathan Garvin was just signed to their practice squad (again). Wonder if he will get activated?

Kittle and McCaffrey almost sure to play. If all three of Bosa, Williams, and Purdy are out, we should be big favorites, but you never know. As above, a few years back in the playoffs they went super run-heavy and clobbered us, and that CMC guy is decent..

On this note - McCaffrey has played three games against the Packers.

12/17/2017 Panthers 31 Packers 24
12 carries for 63 yards / 6 receptions for 73 yards and a TD

11/10/2019 Packers 24 Panthers 16
20 carries for 108 yards and a TD / 6 receptions for 33 yards

1/20/2024 49ers 24 Packers 21 (Divisional Round)
17 carries for 98 yards and 2 TD / 7 receptions for 30 yards

Guessing there are 20+ other teams wishing they had taken Watt... ;)

But yeah, when Watt was available and the Packers were on the clock that night, I thought Watt was 100% a Packer! Then TT trades out of the Round picks up King and Biegel for that pick...the long term outcome of that move of not taking Watt couldn't have turned out much worse.

Yeah, I think there was some unfortunate issues there. He breaks his finger and has a club. Then breaks his foot and eventually has both feet operated. He’s literally in a wheelchair to start the season. We missed big time on that 1st pick in Day3. Only reason I remember is I really like having the first pick in each Day as it gives us all night to ponder. It was really a double blunder that draft. 1st pick in Day 2, 1st pick in day 3 got us King and Biegel. 2 forgettable players that I can’t forget!
What’s crazy is I think 75% of our fan base wanted TJ. I’m not sure why TT was so enamored with King to pass on a Premier Pass rusher. He really went a little awol with going after players who possessed physical attributes. Mostly basketball, baseball and Hockey players. Often wonder if he coached Baseball would he go after Football players?

They are in trouble if Trent, Brock, Nick are down. If that’s true GB should be a -4.0-5.0 favorite in GB.

Purdy alone would be a huge detriment. Its basically like us losing Love imo.

On one side I’m human and I have a desire to play a team that’s banged up. If I’m honest I just as soon play them with each of us at full strength. I don’t want to go into our stretch as a Lamb dressed like a Wolf. I’ll take credit for my inadequacy and learn from it. Ultimately it makes me better.

Last night #85 reminded me of something. When he dropped the TD pass he immediately pointed at his own chest and made sure everyone knew he failed. Until we own who we are and how we play we cannot improve. It’s popular for players to take the glory for their achievements, but rare players take credit for their mistakes. I knew as soon as he did that he’d learn from it and it would come back to him. I don’t coach football but I do coach people and I’ve both learned that lesson in my own life and taught it to others. So I recognized what he was doing there and loved it. #85 is well coached.
The Browns eventually scored on a Winston Run. Winston immediately targeted him and he caught a 2-point conversion on nearly the same throw. That conversion put them up 2-scores with 12 min left in terrible weather conditions. Wise player

Yeah it's a tough call for me. On one hand you don't want to fool yourself into thinking you're something you're not by beating a banged up team. On the other hand...a win is a win and record DOES matter. Obviously an *actual* win vs a banged-up 49ers team is better than a "moral victory" loss to a full-strength one. As I said before I do wonder if mentally it won't be beneficial to beat them (and conversely detrimental to lose) even if they're not at full strength...

Amen to that. The so called “lowly” Browns have bested the Steelers on 5 of the last 6 head to head. When I heard that it proved your point.

Our beating the Bears was not something to be ashamed of. We didn’t play our best, but 100% put ourselves in a position to beat a team that knows us inside and out. A blocked FG doesn’t make a lick of difference unless we positioned ourselves to Win

With GB being a -3 on the betting line, it tells me that the two teams are considered evenly matched, with all the major injuries the 49ers are suffering. That's just the 3 points you get for home cooking. It says that the 49ers are probably the better team, as far as the experts are concerned, despite the injuries.

So, if you're betting, which way do you go? Is it the same way you'd go picking the winner? Put personal likes and dislikes aside, and ask yourself, which side would you put your house on the line if you were a betting person? That's who you need to pick.

Me? I won't know until sometimes Sunday morning. It's a tough one.

Thats not even debatable. It’s a taking the easy way out approach. I’d prefer not to take either result that you offer.

My way? Let’s just Win against a full strength team and quit hoping everyone is injured. I actual believe if we prepare properly? If we go into each game with we can beat them with their starting QB? I absolutely 100% believe we’ll play better.
I also believe it’s very easy to get caught in they mental trap of let me play all the injured teams and yes I fall victim myself
