Been reading comments from executives and scouts on other teams. Haven't seen one who didn't like the pick, and several who say Walker is going to be an All-Pro eventually.

But he was rated higher than any player left who did fill our most glaring need. I've said it all along grabbing a guy you have rated lower just because he fills a need is not a smart way to do things.

IMO disapproving of the pick because you don't think the player was worthy of the #22 pick is legit. Disapproving of the pick just because the player isn't a WR is not.
IDK about most glaring need, but whatever, a few years down the line he could be a great selection. We'll see, and I definitely thought who we choose at 28 was a better pick.

Wow, you missed the point. The point is we have a very bad need at WR, can we say that honestly any player on the roster is better than a WR 3? Watkins is on his best day a WR 2. We have a glaring need, and Quay may or likely not, make up for that on a what was already a ranked (last year) top 10 overall defense. So an inside LB wasn't the best choice there. It's my opinion, if you disagree, that's your opinion. Free exchange of ideas, that's my point. Mine is Quay doesn't fill our most glaring need.
We?

So....your aware of how coaches and gms value the wr and ( KEY WORD) ROLES with in the play book?

So yes, another wr is nice..

maybe?????
By this time next week a newly signed vet wr takes up the spot you think we need?

Maybe... Just maybe the packers have a plan? Or is your elevaluation better?

Hating is not a good look, I simply stated I thought another choice would have been better. Attacking my opinion is just, silly. It's just an opinion, if you disagree, that's fine. Attacking a TBI survivor for having a different opinion is not a good look.

2nd time you said that. Not sure why?
Just because I disagree doesnt mean I think your an idiot.

And where did I say hate? Im sorry about your issues. But you come across as Intelligent and form great arguments..doesnt mean I have to agree.

I survived massive clots in lungs. I should have died.. I live with lung issues ever day...lower left lobe is calcified..

I have a son with duchennes muscular dystropy...I havent see him since 2015 as he lives with his mom...look up dmd...see how horrible it is.

I tried to commit suicide because of many issues..

But I go on

I'm really sorry to hear about your issues. I just felt you mocked me twice, but let's not argue, I hate fighting. I only thought you were mocking me. I just want the best for the GBP. I mentioned my condition again because I sometimes type stuff like "we" by mistake. I just want the best as they were the only team to reply to me while in the hospital. But enough of this, I just really hope Quay works out really well.

Just wanted to say that saying "we" is totally acceptable. It is our team. I will admit that when we make a good pick it is we and when bad it is them. It is just such not a big deal.

Yes. And in addition I think Gutey really likes the versatility Q offers. He can stop the run, play coverage, and an added bonus, he has the size, speed, strength, and experience to add juice as a pass rusher, both on inside blitzes AND actually lining up on the edge and rushing as an OLB. There is clear evidence in tape that he can do that. Not saying he’ll do it a lot, but you can picture Barry putting together some packages where Gary bumps inside and Q rushes from outside.

Seems like he'll be a good player if he can speed up his processing speed in diagnosing plays. His speed, physicality, and ability consistently tackle are absolutely elite. I'm always a little concerned when linebacker appear to be reacting to plays rather than diagnosing them but that's something I'm sure the front office has vetted and is confident he can do.

As for negatives, I just don't like taking ILB in round 1. Walker could turn out amazing but he's immediately the 28th highest paid ILB in the entire league and, if the Packers thought they needed another ILB then a good, reliable ILB can be found in the free agent market for about the price it's going to cost the Packers to sign an unknown rookie. First round picks should lean more heavily towards positions where free agents are most expensive. Team building in a capped sport means that cheaper, great players at expensive positions are just more valuable than cheap, great players at cheaper positions.

All the same, I hope Walker turns into Parson or Fred Warner and I have to eat those last words.

I think first round picks should lean towards players that have a better chance at helping the team. In general, punter, kicker, long snapper and I guess return specialists are the only positions that shouldn't be in play in the first round. Its players more than positions.

I get that but to ignore the opportunity cost we're giving up with certain positions is ignoring part of the salary cap. Again, not a deal breaker but something that should be considered.

I get your point as well but if the ILB you are getting in the draft is a much better player than the ILBs you might get in FA its worth it. Or should I say if you think the ILB is much better.

I am wondering if the Packers were more willing to ignore that in the interest of a "win now" mentality.

The Walker pick screams that approach to me as well. I’d argue you have to go out if your way NOT to see that.

Hoping that Biasacci can use some of these picks to improve special teams. Kick returns, kick coverage, FGs, punts, etc. This area MUST improve dramatically.

Not sure how much stock to put into it but Matt Miller (ESPN) was asked to predict a surprise pick for the first round and he said that Walker would be the first LB off the board and wouldn't make it past the Patriots pick.

I also read (can't recall where at the moment, sorry) that the Saints were seriously considering taking him at 19.

Now that the draft is complete/I see how things have played out I've done a 180 on the selection

As some have already stated this was a move to fortify an already good defense by bolstering a position that's been practically neglected up until recently

With Walker, Joe Barry will surely be utilizing a 2-4-5 nickel as our base defense. I envision us running that 2-4 front at least 60-65% of the time and only playing dime maybe 20-30% of the time

Gary @ LOLB Preston @ ROLB
Kenny @ Left 3-Tech/4i DT Wyatt @ Right 3-Tech/4i DT
Dre @ MIKE lined up behind Kenny Quay @ BUCK lined up behind Wyatt
Amos/Savage @ S (they interchange so much it's trivial to call Amos the SS and Savage the FS)
Rasul @ Boundary CB Stokes @ Field CB Jaire @ Slot Corner/Nickelback

That's nasty!

Should equally be effective vs run and pass plays against 11/12 personnel looks the formations a majority of NFL offenses utilize the most in a game

Quay gives us the younger mirror image of Dre just without the dreads, lol... Now we'll have our version of Bowman & Willis from the Harbaugh 49ers/White & David in Tampa currently

I take back my words on Gute's decision to pick Quay Walker-it was a good move. I see the vision now...

Soooooo.....

They just paid Campbell 50M
They have Kris Barnes, and they only play 1 ILB on nearly 50% of the snaps
A record 6 WRs drafted first 20 picks
Aj brown and Hollywood brown traded for
u trade away the best wr in football
and the last "blue chip wr" (christian watson) is still available and u get a player at a position not of need

WTF GUTE U ******

SMH....
FYI

They tried to trade for Hollywood as did KC but he wanted to go to Arizona

I really like this pick. Folks saying we paid Campbell for 50Mill... yeah a FIVE-year deal -- That does not mean we will reach 5 years with him. Realistically, I see us sticking with Campbell for a minimum of one more year or a max of 3 yrs until we move on from him.

His contract structure is excellent for a full contract play out. He just needs to be eighty percent or better than his 2021 season to earn a spot every year his contract has a year for
