I'm sick of our D playing so poorly. The buck stops with Capers. Time for him to go away.

4-1 with wins over two top NFC teams and most of the thread is complaining and worried about the playoffs already.

Try to enjoy the game yesterday and the excellent position we are in a little bit.

The biggest takeaway is we are tied atop The NFC and legit contenders for home field advantage.

I'm definitely enjoying the Packers win over the Cowboys but there's reason to be concerned as the issues that have kept the team from reaching another Super Bowl over the past six seasons don't seem to have been adequately addressed this offseason.

I'd argue that Carolina and Philly are teams that could challenge for the one seed

I don't believe the Eagles will end up being a challenger for the #1 seed in the NFC.

Agree, I find it more likely that the Seahawks end up challenging for the 1# seed then the Eagles will. Im happy we have beated them and the Cowboys already, now lets hope we end one game ahead of Atlanta.

In my opinion the Falcons and Panthers present the stiffest competition for the #1 seed in the NFC.

Thank you for the level of depression I just dropped into. :(

You're right though. We've competed against two top level offenses, and the defense has given up over 30 points in both games. Aaron Rodgers is clutch and can win a game nearly by himself when he is at the top of his game. But we cannot expect heroics like we saw today every single time we go against one of these teams.

The apologists will continue to talk about injuries and that is what's making the difference. But injuries are a part of the game, and no team is 100% healthy right now. The fact is, we have no plausible evidence that our defense can even come close to containing an elite offense, because by my count, they are 0-2 in that department so far this season, and provided us with several examples of the same thing last season.

The back end is still highly suspect. A lucky interception, and all time great heroics from #12 won this game.

Are there any Capers defenders left? I used to defend the guy but my patience has worn out.

I think this weekend's game is key. The Packer's first 6 games were brutal on paper going to Atlanta, Dallas and Minnesota while hosting Seattle. If they are some how 5-1 after that you have to be quite the pessimist to not be really encouraged especially with the injury issues the team has weathered.

Please, take a look at the injury situation for a lot of teams around the league. There's no reason for the Packers to complain about it by any means.

The Packers didn't have an overwhelming number of injuries but I would argue that the caliber of players missing time was significant. How many Packers players have received pro-bowl/all-pro/NFL top 100 honors in their careers and how many missed time in the first 5 games. Missing both starting OTs is a severe test for any NFL team.

Not many teams had to play without their top 5 tackles including their lt never playing. The Packers have also had their number 1 corner out for a lot of the season, the irbest defensive player has missed half the season , the 2nd best defensive player has missed time and is wearing a club, all three wrs have missed time, their starting rb is out with broken ribs. I am not saying we have it worse than everyone else but it has been very significant. The tackle issues alone are huge. The biggest positive for the Packers is lack of season ending injuries but all I was saying is injuries so far. The Packers have had a lot of guys miss time but are in better shape than many others going forward because they were not season enders

The Packers definitely had to deal with their share of injuries and having to start a different combination of starting tackles every single week has been tough to overcome. But compared to other teams Green Bay has been extremely lucky, especially as none of the guys you mentioned suffered a season ending injury.

They're out there, I assure you :)

I'm not even sure if some of them actually appreciate the game of football. It's like they don't know or don't care the time, work, preparation and the obstacles that this team has overcome thus far this season. And that's pretty much lock in step for the past couple seasons. We have Rodgers, we should just win, regardless of anything else. or even worse yet, we're the GB Packers, this is title town, if these bums can't do it, ship 'em out. Like I said, don't know if they even like football. as a fan of football, there has been plenty to like so far this season. Plenty to see that needs to get better as well if they want to win it all. Lots of football left.

We have our studs. Our offense is starting to come around and has a lot of room to improve. getting a stable and healthy offensive line with 2 legitimate tackles will give us a boost. more time with our new TE's in the offense will give us a boost. Finding a running game and 2 backs to pair together can give us another boost. and we already have Rodgers, Jordy, Adams, Cobb. I see no reason why this offense won't improve a lot yet. Which should scare the crap out of anyone we face. and I don't care if we need to rely on them to score a lot of points because they're certainly built for it.

on defense, they've had their moments of good and bad. Our Dline is better than it has been. Anybody that thinks we don't have guys up front to win, well I don't know what you expect? Daniels will start on any defensive front in the league. Clark is probably there already in year 2 of his career too and he's only getting better. RJF is a fine vet to rotate in. Every team has a guy like him and uses him. Lowery is getting better. Dial is a nice addition and giving us good snaps. We still have Adams to see yet who i'm not expecting a ton out of, but quality snaps to rotate in at some point will only help. If not, there is room to grow with our already nicely playing DLine unit.

Clay has been good this year, the only people denying it are those that just want to hate on Clay. Perry is doing well and when he gets that cast off he'll be better. Of course he could just get hurt again and that wouldn't be good. Our OLB's have been ok and could get a shot in the arm if Biegel can see the field later this year. Martinez has been a bright spot this year at ILB. That guy came to play this year. Some of the similar miscommunications, leaving areas vacant etc in the defensive backfield and that's concerning to say the least. But we've also seen guys make real plays. Brice has been good, if he can stay on the field. Josh Jones is only going to get better and is already making plays. King is doing well and both of those guys are just starting to improve. They both have high ceilings. they aren't dropping off. Burnett is having a really solid year again. I'm doubting Randall changes his attitude, and that will always leave us vulnerable, but to not see improvement from last year to this? you're just hating. Nobody is confusing him with Patrick Peterson, but he's having a good season so far. If he's our nickel back and keeps playing like this, unless you're expecting Patrick Peterson at the nickel, we'll be fine.

They've had their issues back there, but they've also made some plays too. With lots of room to grow and get better even this season I remain optimistic. Lots of teams have had injuries this year, I know, and lots of those teams are 4-1. I like watching the team grind it out and come back with grit and win like they did against Dallas far more than the blowouts. If all you care about is wins and losses, check the scores in the morning. If you love the game of football, how do the highs and lows not keep you on the edge of your seat and engaged in the whole damn game?

Bring on quarter #2 and health for everyone in green and gold :)

Again no one is are arguing we have had season ending injuries. The point is that just through 5 games we have not been lucky. We have had a ton of guys miss time. So we are lucky in one sense and unlucky in another. I am simply saying I am encouraged by how this team has weathered current injuries which have left them without a lot of good players. Other teams have been unable to recover from injuries

Wow, now you're already questioning fans' appreciation for the game because they don't share your way of thinking.

There's no doubt the Packers being 4-1 is encouraging especially having to play with a patchwork offensive line for most of the first five games of the season. I'm just pointing out that a lot of other teams have suffered way more devastating injuries than the Packers.

I'm well aware that you prefer to believe your subjective observations than rely on facts.

It's great that most of the Packers' injuries haven't ended up on IR, but they've had to do without more starters than the majority of teams through 5 weeks. This is pretty innocuous, self-evident commentary, but some people catch a whiff of positivity in it and thus feel the need to "correct" it as though it needed correcting.

Wimm. Not sure to just quote sections. More devasting in terms of length definitely. But Bahk is probably our second best offensive player and he has missed the season. That is pretty devastating but the team has just responded.

I look at the Vikings. They have been remarkably injury free minus Bradford and cook and cook really has only missed a game and a half so far. Now he will obviously miss way more going forward but that is a team that has had pretty much its entire defense, entire oline, wr and TE's play every game. Their qb has missed time but he isn't great and his backup isn't bad. Cook will hurt for sure but they had him. So over 5 games would you say they have had it worse than the Packers?

Do you have any numbers to support that statement???

Well, it's tough to argue with you when you consider the Packers missing Bakhtiari as a bigger deal than the Vikings having to play without their starting quarterback (on top of still missing Bridgewater) and running back.

I am not saying Bahk alone is a bigger deal at all. I am saying Bahk with the fact that our rb has missed the same amount of time, our wrs have each missed time, our other tackle has also missed time probably is pretty close. Cook has missed less time than ty. Bradford is a loss for sure but we are talking about a league average qb (just like Bridgewater) unless you rank them higher than that being replaced by a guy in keenum who is probably in the 30 or so range of qb. Big lost but where does that rank to a lt, rt, some wrs, a pro bowl dt, best Olb we have, best cb we have, etc. That is the question. Quantity or quality and I would say the Packers have had quality in the quantity it just hasn't been our qb

While it's true that Bradford is an average quarterback it's the toughest position to adequately replace a starter. There are other teams missing having missed their signal caller for all or parts of this season in Indianapolis, Miami, Tennessee and Oakland. After taking a look at what happened to the Texans (Watt and Mercilus out for the season on the same drive) and the Giants receiving corps I have a hard time understanding Packers' fans complaining about injuries.

You made the claim therefore it's on you to provide facts supporting it. In addition the weekly injury report doesn't include players on injured reserve or the PUP list.

We've talked about this before. I advised you to go look through the weekly injury reports for the first month of the season. It's pretty clear. If you won't do that, I can't help you.

If any trend or reality has to be quantified into a statistic before we're allowed to refer to it, then we might as well just shut the forum down.

I guess I would say your last examples price my point. The tackle position for gb has been like those situation. Pro bowl level players hurt along with all their backups. What happened to those teams happened this week and what happened to gb happened at the start of the season. So going forward gb looks way better but up to this point have had it worse. It isn't hard logic to follow. The whole point has been so far. Every announcer and national pundit has talked about how bad the Packers injuries have been. This isn't a Packer fan thing
