Why do the Packers seem to do this?

Because accountability is slow to come from the top. Murphy held on way too long to Teddy as GM and now his subpar drafts are catching up to him as the team is now only a borderline playoff team, and that's only because Rodgers is still the best QB in the game. Interestingly enough, Rob Demovsky just put out a column on this today. A great read.

This was a really good read and really highlights Thompson's obvious decline the past few years.

Reading that, it's even more bleak than it seems.
One thing's for certain, the Packers aren't getting much respect these days. Maybe a win at LA would change that.

This is a myth. In 2011, the team got apparently worse as the season wore on (Record didn't show it because they played thrash opponents. Then the Giants slapped them silly). The 2015 team started out 6-0 and collapsed down the stretch. The 2017 team missed the postseason. 2014 loss to Buffalo cost them a SB.

Regardless, this is MM's last season. This team will get curb stomped by LA & NE.
9-11 the first 10 games the last 2 seasons is no myth - just cold hard facts.

They will at the very least beat the Patriots, and I expect a good fight this weekend. Please see me in 2 weeks.

He also drafted our entire backfield over the last three years, and I think that's a good group. And Blake Martinez is a *good* football player-- not great, but solid. And I like what I've seen from Lowry last year and this year. We will see what happens with King, Jones, and Adams. I have hope for King, but not much for the other guys.

Bottom line though, they're three unimpressive drafts in a row and they're weighing the current roster down.

I was definitely exaggerating by mentioning that Thompson didn't draft any good players over his last three drafts but unfortunately Clark seems to be the only one capable of developing into a special one.

Hmm, I had forgotten that. I wonder if that affects the perception of Thompson's performance and philosophy that he wasn't able to get it done under a capped season?

Thompson deserves credit for assembling the roster that won the Super Bowl in 2010, no matter if that season was an uncapped one. It was a bit easier to make up for a ton of players ending on injured reserve though.

Once again, the Packers 1-4 record with Hundley playing in these games should be ignored though.

I realize the point you're making. But the team is called the Green Bay Packers, not the Green Bay Rodgers. Other teams have had to deal with their backup quarterback as well, with varying degrees of success. It's not like the games don't count just because Rodgers is out. If anything, their ineptness without him showed how ill prepared they actually were.

I definitely agree with you that the Packers weren't prepared to overcome Rodgers injury last season as the roster lacked overall talent.

In my opinion those games shouldn't be considered when talking about the team always starting slow though.
