and did the defense play perfectly? did you see the tackle attempts on Debo Samuels late in the game to set up the game winner?
They were not perfect, but almost perfect. I guess they did have to be 100% perfect for Rodgers to win it.

anyway, they were playing a pretty inept offense to begin with in frigid temps that usually result in low scoring games.
Jimmy G made the throws when he had to, so I guess he wasn't quite as inept as Rodgers.

and there wasn't any team left in the NFC that had a QB that was going to overcome a special teams TD, a blocked kick and losing the field possession battle on every special teams play, especially under those game conditions
The Packers gave up a total of 13 points. Five out of the 6 other QBs in the NFC put up more than 13 points in their playoff games.

expecting an NFL team to not give up a punt block for a TD isn't really asking all that much LOL. There were 12 blocked punts last year in the NFL. How many went for TD's? 3? so in around 280 games played we have 12 blocks and you think it's asking for a miracle to not allow a block, let alone one for TD in a game?
It isn't much to ask of an average ST unit. But our ST unit was way below average, ours was historically bad. Many of us predicted they would commit a critical blunder in a playoff game. And it's not like this is so rare - we also had 2 ST blunders in the 2014 playoff game.

Also, if Rodgers hadn't had gone 3-and-out, if he had converted a couple first downs, then maybe that blocked punt happens at midfield and doesn't get returned for a TD. But of course he goes 3-and-out and it gets blocked deep in their territory and easily returned for a TD.

This is where you seem to have a big problem you think all those failures were Aaron Rodgers and failed to account for the rest of the team that was playing the conditions they were playing in and the team they were playing against this is why you will never see or appreciate football

I'm sure other teams have had worse ST units, but I don't know if any of those teams were in the playoffs. I can't imagine any were worse who had the #1 seed. Who did have the worst ST ever, or the worst of any playoff team?

He isn’t trying to. He has an unrealistic view as to who Rodgers is and should be… and will ignore any rational view that doesn’t blame Him for every problem or failing in the world. I have stopped responding to him directly because his viewpoint is not worth the time.

So yeah that Packers arent gonna be making big money free agent signings from other teams on the regular but theyvreally never did that anyways.
?? What do you call 2 Smiths + Amos + Turner?? This isn’t Ted Thompson anymore. If you think for 1 minute that Gutey would not make a splash signing IF he had the financial means to do it you don’t know our GM very well.
But they can certainly afford to extend Rodgers and resign Adams both to top of market contracts moving forward.
Depends on what you mean by “afford” when it comes to “Top Market” contracts?
There has to be an offset. That comes in the form of pushing $$ onto future financial ledgers + substantially gashing other position groups. I don’t call that “affordable”. When I think of that term I think of frugal contracts that get lots of bang for low bucks. “Affordable housing” etc..
I think your idea of affordable is inconsistent with reality.
And theyd be stupid not too as like ive said, other teams dream of spending their cap space on 2 fhof players they drafted and developed.
If we were +$51,000,000+ instead of <-$51,000,000->you’d be correct.
We don’t have cap space, that’s a fictional term in 2022 for the Packers. We have cap deficits

You could add “future borrowed” to “cap space” to that comment and it would be consistent and in-step with our present standing. Omission of the facts can be very damaging.

How we “feel” about ordering an exquisite meal is one thing. How we “settle our debt” it is quite another. I’m not interested in doing dirty dishes to work off my Steak Ragu.
I want to enjoy my juicy Matsusaka Steak and know I didn’t have to take out a loan to do it.

That in itself is a misnomer. We don’t have cap space. We have cap deficits
I really think you need to stop thinking about the salary cap like it’s an individual‘s personsal finances. The cap is just a limit imposed to attempt to allow all teams to be competitive. In most normal cases I would agree that it would certainly be best to try to stay within the limits of the cap each year leaving room to make the necessary roster changes that inevitably come up from year to year. However this is not a normal situation. The Packers currently have a 4 time MVP QB that happens to have won two of them in the past 2 years. He is coming up on the end of his career, but is still playing like the best QB in the league. You keep referring to “cap hell” like it’s analogous to personal bankruptcy or something. It isn’t. The Packers are pretty much guaranteed to have a down year or 2 after Rodgers leaves whether that is next year or 3 years down the road. If they choose to backload the crap out of the cap for those years it can literally all be caught up in the year after he leaves. Yes they will have a crappy team that year while they cut everyone and begin to rebuild…. so what. The alternative is that they start that rebuild now. instead and suck right away. I know you are all excited about draft picks for Rodgers etc…. but the history of the NFL tells me that having a HOF 4 time MVP QB trumps the uncertainty of the draft in almost every case. I truly don’t understand why so many people are stressing over doing Russ Ball’s job. he will make the cap work however he has to if they decide to go all in once again.

Personally I'm mixed on a multi-year Lazard deal BUT that is mainly due to us most likely structuring it unevenly to assist now and ballooning later dead cap figures instead of lessoning dead cap alter in say a 3 year deal for him.

I don't want the Packers to significantly backload a deal for Lazard either but it might make sense to push a portion of what it takes to re-sign him into future years.

Whose fault is it that the Packers only scored 13 (I will give you the missed FG) in such a low scoring game?

The offense definitely deserves part of the blame for losing the game. I agree it's fair to criticize Rodgers for that as well but you need to realize that he's not the only one playing on that unit. For example, do you want to blame Rodgers for Lewis losing a fumble on the Niners' 42-yard line with the offense in sync early in the game???

How on earth is it Rodgers' fault the special teams were terrible all season long???

I'm sure other teams have had worse ST units, but I don't know if any of those teams were in the playoffs.

The Packers' special teams were easily the worst in the league last year by a huge margin.

I agree that it's not completely Rodgers' fault that the offense did not play well. Also, I wasn't saying it was Rodgers' fault that ST was terrible. I'm saying that blame should be assigned in terms of how a unit performed compared to how we expected them to perform. We knew ST was terrible, so we shouldn't be surprised they performed terribly in the game. But Rodgers' and the offense's overall performance in the game was surprisingly bad.

None of that quote is anything I said. 30 is not that young when it comes to relationships unless she just crawled out of a forest after being raised by wolves. Relationships are much different at 16 than they are at 18 than they are at 25 and again by 30. By 30 you're either the same person with stunted intelligence all the way around or you've changed and your relationships are more mature. and it's the 7 year itch, not 8, not that's it's relevant as they aren't married.
Statistically speaking it is at 8 years of marriage when women start to stray. That's per scientific studies. The 7 year itch is a myth not reality. You are stereotyping people. 30 is young depending on experience. Some people at that age may have had only one relationship in their life while others may have had dozens and some people may have never had a relationship. We have no way of knowing how many relationhips Shailene Woodley has had. She may not have had any. She may have simply enjoyed casual sex her entire life and nerver seriously cared for anyone in a way that would constitute a monogamous relationship. That pretty much is the Hollywood way.

I don’t care if it’s 7,8,9,20 men women whatever. She’s not 18. I don’t care if she’s had 1 boyfriend or 1000. She’s 30. She’s had relationships. Shes not a neophyte suddenly realize what relationships are.

And they weren’t married, or together for 8 years, so why is it relevant?

You just typed out that response and I’m stereotyping lol

We shall see soon enough who is correct...id bet on me haha obviously

It appears Z. Smith will soon be released as he has deleted all mention of the packers across his social media accounts...so that will be down to roughly 36,000,000 million over the 2022 cap

And yes 3 years ago or whatever gute signed 4 guys. 3 have been home runs in my book. The 4th Turner has been adequate. However the packers are still a draft and develop organization without a doubt.

Every Gm would make big ticket signings if they have the cap space. My point is resigning Adams, and extending Rodgers, Alexander, are gonna be gutes "splash" signings in 2022. 3 players they drafted that are gonna get top of market deals...draft, develop, and extend

I didn’t mind the Smith deals or Amos. Thought they were all good. The Turner deal I thought was atrocious and still do.

The bad signings are the most recent ones to keep our own guys. Mercedes Lewis shouldn’t be making anything above veterans minimum. King shouldn’t have gotten more than the veterans minimum. I don’t care what the bargain was, when you’re down on cap you don’t resign RBs. Sorry Jones. Shouldn’t have needed to trade for Cobb had we just done the smart thing and drafted a WR to develop moving into his 2nd year but we went in the complete opposite direction and did the dumbest thing by drafting Love. I like his story and don’t hate the player but I hate the decision to make that pick with an unforgivable passion.

Little decisions here and there add up to a massive mismanagement of the cap. You cut a few of those moves out and we save cap space from last year plus kill off some of the void years we are paying for this year.

I think the packers can afford to and will resign Rodgers and Adams without incurring "cap hell" later on or gutting other position groups. Because I believe the cap is gonna go up significantly over the next 5 seasons. Like record breaking significantly

You think they can not...no?

Just wanted to see how many people realistically think Rodgers wont play in Green Bay in 2022...I just dont see anyway both him and Adams arent making another super bowl run in 2022 as Packers
Boy is this the question of the year or what???? No solid info out there…. Only rumors….. if he stays and they roll the dice to make a Super Bowl run, the current cap problem just gets kicked down the road with N even bigger balloon attached to it. No easy answers in keeping him

I don't care what team you talk about - the QB gets to much praise when they win and to much blame when they lose.

I can't recall another playoff team with ST this horrendous. Even if that unit was a little below average we win that game and folks aren't labeling Rodgers a choke artist.
