Granted it was a division game, I'd like to think we are more talented than the Cardinals and should be able to do even better and get the W.

Yeah, I'm hoping the takeaway here is that the 49ers aren't as tough as some are making them out to be. It was a division game though, so those can be hard fought.

Absolutely always respect your opponent.
I’d much rather play the Niners than Saints on the road right now. 10 out of 10 times. I think GB would beat the 49ers 6 out of 10 contests in their current state, on the road.
We now have all played 8 games (top 3) The Saints at
7-1 playing .533 teams and with a backup QB is more impressive to me than going 8-0 against .333 teams.

I think the Saints are the NFC team to beat.
I have the 49rs next below Saints/GB and above MN.

The Packers will have two weeks to prepare for the 49ers. We win that game, and we're in the driver's seat for home field coming through Lambeau.

We also have a bye coming up so you could say 3 weeks. I like you thinking on the drivers seat at Lambeau, that’s going to be a huge factor.

The 49ers play Packers, Ravens, Saints in the three consecutive weeks starting with us after our bye. Then we will know who’s boss.

Not to mention that, if you look at their schedule as a whole, the combined records of teams they play for the rest of the year are a collective 34-21-1. That includes Arizona and Atlanta.

Seattle twice, Green Bay, Baltimore, New Orleans, and Los Angeles. That's just brutal.

What worries me is that the Saints remaining schedule doesn't look all that daunting.

Niners started great to the halfway mark, but also other NFC teams are finding their groove now. Even the Cardinals can’t be taken for granted, they played good enough that even 1 takeaway (that fumble ruled down by contact) could’ve changed the outcome of the winner Thursday night. Arizona had all the momentum, had they forced a punt outside of 2 minutes I believe they would’ve tied it up or had a go ahead score. Packers need another weapon.. their version of George Kittle (Jace?).
Aside from our 49ers on the road and maybe MN,
I will just say, I like our schedule much better than theirs.

You're not kidding. Saints have Falcons and Panthers twice, Bucs, Titans, 9ers and Colts, not in that order, but, you're not kidding.

Andy Dalton started a season 8-0 too. He is the only QB in NFL history to start one season 8-0, and then start the following season 0-8...

Garappolo's TD/INT this season is 9/7... they've played a bunch of chumps around LAR.

As far as the Packers go, they just have to keep bringing it, and getting better every week, fixing deficiencies along the way. I'm encouraged by the level of talent that we have returning off of the injury list. Also, Montravius Adams has been playing through injury, and I'm hoping that gets better, as well as his play. We need him firing live bullets. Would certainly help. On that line, I'd like to see more of Kingsley Keke.

I was sharing a drink with Santana Dotson about 2 months ago or so, told him Keke reminded me of himself when Santana was younger. The smile on his face was pretty freaking wide. He agreed too. Very similar build, bend and ability.

He & Gilbert were in town tearing it up, and those two are insane fun. Great guys.

On topic, I still think GB is TOPS in the NFL. Both SF & NE have played a bunch of pansies. NO looks solid, but so do we, and, I take GB.

The takeaway should be they played a tough division game, won, and are now 8-0, should be considered tough as nails and not to be taken lightly.
Yeah, I'm not saying they should be taken lightly, just that they're not an irresistible force. A lot of people are saying they're the best team in football. And maybe they are, but I thought GB could beat the team we saw last night.

Not even saying we would, but could. I have to believe we could, because I was tired of the Packers getting blocked in the playoffs by Jim Harbaugh's 49ers for a couple of years there. Don't care to see it again.

Garoppolo's TD/INT ratio is 13/7 this season.
Yeah, must have been reading those numbers from prior to their Thursday Night game against ARI. Garoppolo did add 4 more TDs v. the Cardinals, the #27 Pass Defense in the NFL, and the #31 Scoring Defense in the NFL. Arizona is DEAD LAST in Defensive INTs and #28 in Defensive TOs on the season, which might have helped account for his 0 INTs v. ARI. He's had 1 other game this year without an INT, v. CLE.

In Strength of Schedule, Arizona is -2.63, NE is -8.18, Green Bay is +2.40 (where a higher # indicates tougher schedule, and a lower indicates easier). I'll stand by my point, that GB is the better team. On that last note, the Saints SoS is +1.38.... MIN is -2.23.... Going through all of the teams, no one has a higher SoS than the Green Bay Packers, by the Saints' margin, who is closest to GB.

Packers are TOP DOG! woOF!

Every time I have seen Garoppolo, he has looked very sharp. I guess I didn't see his interceptions. Somebody is going to have to watch that TE...Tramon? And Emmanuel Sanders looked very good.

DUDE! That's so funny. What does this SOS say for GB?

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/gnb/2019.htm

I simply went through all of the TOP teams and checked what they were, one by one... I do trust this source, and it is updated...

Of course, I did not check every team individually. Thank you for the link. I did not see a top team, division leader or one we would consider a contender on pfr with a higher SoS...

This page shows all the SoS for Pro Football Reference (in the standings).

Odd that the info here doesn't quite match the link that Pokerbrat provided. They both appear up to date as far as I can see.

In Pokerbrat's link, both Carolina and NO have better SoS than we do (if you consider those teams contenders - they both have winning records). But PRF rates ours above NO (but not Carolina).

Fortunately, those stats don't win or lose games each week ;) But you bring up a good point, depending on what people are putting into their formulas, different numbers can be arrived at. I assumed they were just using straight wins and losses by your opponents, but apparently there is more to it than that? Guess I learned something today about SOS.

I've seen "Strength of Schedule" mentioned in quite a few posts. I have found this site to have the most updated SOS, since it literally changes after every game played.

https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/ranking/schedule-strength-by-other
That’s a good point to remember on how SOS is a moving target. I don’t even consider it a barometer until around this time of the season and beyond.

You’ll notice that the 2010 GB Packers went 14-6 including playoffs, but with the 2nd toughest schedule out of 32 teams. Then factor in the biggest loss for GB was 4 points in any game that season. That speaks to the quality of that team.

Thus far the only 2 teams with winning records in the top 10 toughest opponents are Saints #7 and GB at #9. The Saints seem to edge us out thus far in SOS, but it’s also such a trivial difference. NO having the quality depth at QB and winning multiple games without Brees puts them on top of the leaderboard IMO.
GB scoring 30+ without Adams is impressive also but again, the Saints are the team to beat followed by us and then San Fran IMO.
Much will be found out about SF in the coming weeks. 49ers playing GB, Ravens, Saints, Rams, Seattle over a 6 week final stretch will be a true indicator of what they are all about.

The two undefeated teams have a low SoS so far though (49ers and Patriots).
I like the fact that we've been tested and are accustomed to playing good teams. Toughens you up, I would think. If it doesn't wear you down first.
