That is Patriots fans for you. They will argue that Kyle Van Noy is the best ILB in the league, because he’s *slightly* better than last year. Delusional fans. Most notably because of the success of Boston sports. I have Bruins and Patriots season tickets. I am a Bruins, Red Sox, Packers fan. I hate 95% of Boston sports fans.

Bruins and Red Sox?

2 teams out of 3 aint bad.

I don’t know what to think other than GB is as healthy as we’ve been all year. That helped in LA but facing off against Brady is another animal.
GB has a full arsenal of weapons and much will depend on if our O line can give Aaron time.
Even though we lost last week, going into the waning minutes of the 1st half 10-0 was significant. If not for a favorable bounce and stellar ST play pinning us on the 1ft line (it was as close to a touchback as I’ve never seen) I believe GB comes out with a Win last Sunday.

Close doesn’t count in the W column, but as we found out in 2010 it absolutely does generate a huge amount of confidence in the improvement area and allows us to get more aggressive going forward. We have all the tools necessary to beat any team in this league right now, but we have to put all 3 phases together this week and continue on last weeks track of playing largely disciplined ball. If we want to get our respect back? Winning a HOF QB contest on the road provides the perfect recipe.

If somehow we can pull off an upset, the string of home games late in the year will be like wind at our backs.

If the Patriots have the best defense in the league, then the Packers have the best tail back in the league as well.
Aaron Jones is averaging 6.2 yards a carry which is first in the league of all qualifying backs. Todd Gurley is only averaging 4.2 yards a carry!!! Boy the Patriots better watch out or Jones is gonna rush all over them!!!!

See we can make pointless stats make our team look good too.

I didn't say best defense. I said best secondary.

You do have a good run game, you just rarely ever use it.

Beating the Patriots at Gillette is going to be tough no matter how you look at it.

The positive from last week are that Martinez and Alexander played like pro-bowlers. Hell, even Clay Matthews showed up. Aaron Jones is looking more and more each week like the real deal, but Stubby McStupid can't seem to wrap his head around giving him the ball more. Rodgers seems to be pretty much healthy and so NE will have to respect his scrambling ability.

Pass rush is going to be a non-factor I think because Brady and the NE offense like to get the ball out fast. That's where Brady and the NE offensive scheme excels IMO. The short game plus a pretty decent running game sets up the play-action all day long. GB secondary will have to come to play, because they will have a lot of misdirection thrown at them and they'll be tested all day.

And FFS enough with the long counts, it ain't working!

I would prefer to talk about the actual matchups, but you guys aren't interested. However, the above should at least provide you with a reason as to why are way off base in your analysis.

I don't see the point of you coming here as it's obvious you're not interested in actual conversion about Sunday's game.

Ours definitely matches up well with your offense, because your team likes to pass the ball downfield, and we have the best secondary in the league.

https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-ranking-the-nflstop-defenses-after-week-8

Let me be clear about it, the Patriots are definitely favorites to win on Sunday. You're kidding yourself if you truly believe there's no way the Packers end up beating your team at Foxboro. In addition you make yourself look like a complete fool posting ridiculous stuff like the Patriots having the best secondary in the league.

The weakness of our defense has been our LBs in coverage. You have no one with whom you can attack them. None of your RBs are any threat in the passing game.

The Patriots secondary has been responsible for 16 of the 17 touchdown passes they have allowed this season.

The Patriots are in the bottom 5 for passing defense. They average giving up 277 yards per game. The packers are top 5 in passing defense. They average giving up 220 yards per game...

I have mentioned that a lot but total yards allowed is a terrible metric to evaluate a defense.

"Pass defense" includes passes against our LBs. That's not just on the secondary. Even with that, our defense has allowed the 4th lowest opposing QB rating in the league.

As I've posted earlier in this thread the Patriots ranking fourth in opponents passer rating is mostly based on a large number of interceptions. You truly expect Rodgers to turn the ball over at the same rate as well???

I don't expect him to turn the ball over at the same rate, because this season he has thrown the ball away at the first sign of danger. So much so that he is on pace to shatter the "throw away" record.

This season, one quarterback appears to be in a position to not only surpass Rivers’ mark of 46 throwaways in 2016, but he is on pace to absolutely shatter it. That quarterback is Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers has amassed 32 throwaways through his first seven games. At that pace, he is set to throw the ball away 73 times in a 16-game season. To put that in perspective, Ben Roethlisbergerhas thrown the ball away 73 times in the regular season since the start of 2012.

https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-aaron-rodgers-set-to-shatter-throwaway-record

Also, from the same article:

One such area is long-developing plays with a time to throw of more than 3.0 seconds. Time to throw is measured from the snap until one of three things happens: the quarterback releases the ball on a pass attempt, the quarterback crosses the line of scrimmage on a scramble, or the quarterback is sacked. Rodgers currently has the third-most dropbacks where it takes more than 3.0 seconds for one of those three things to take place

This is due to a combination of his receivers being unable to get open, and him failing to take the check downs when they are available, and instead trying to chuck it down field.

Because of his, i do not see GB's offense posing many issues for us. We will take away the downfield stuff, make Rodgers hold on to the ball (because he doesn't usually take the check down) and so he will either be sacked or forced to throw the ball away.

We do not need to intercept him a single time on Sunday.

I agree that, at times, Rodgers doesn't take the check down. But the Packers are 3-3-1 and need a victory. If you think he's going to shy away from taking the check down, or neglecting the smart play in this game I think you might be in for a rude awakening. Especially with the quarterback he's going against on the other side of the ball.

He knows the margin is thin when you go up against Belichick and the Patriots. They simply are not going to beat themselves. He's going to have to play a very efficient game and he knows that.

Rodgers is who he is. We're pretty deep into his career to know what kind of QB he is and how he plays the game. He prefers chucking it deep and locks onto downfield targets.

But it's not all about the lack of check downs. You don't have the 3rd most dropbacks with a time to throw of 3 seconds or more just because of the lack of check downs. The receivers, outside of Adams, have had trouble getting open consistently.

Let me start by saying I have a ton of respect for what the Brady Belichik 2 headed monster has achieved. I would never in a million years use Brady as a scapegoat for the Offensive woes because as a rule he is the strength of that team. Even on a bad day both of these QBs are capable of redeeming themselves and grading out average.
So if you are picking a particular player to pick on.. you picked probably the worst possible example.
There’s not enough perfectly healthy QBs in this league to fill up the fingers on one hand who can match a hobbling Aaron Rodgers. To assert that Aaron Rodgers is going to “throw away” this game is not only cocky and arrogant, it’s about the most uneducated thing I’ve heard in some time.
Singling that one stat out of hundreds of possible stats not only shows how ignorant you are about the factors that go into it, but moreso shows me th me desperatation you are willing to entertain in order to somehow make yourself feel better.
The amount of time you just spent somehow searching for evidence to use as an implication of Aaron Rodgers as somehow a scapegoat for GBs woes? That only shows to me how pathetic an attempt it is at mitigating some inner fear you must have of him beating you in your own house.

So help me understand this. Rodgers is on pace to absolutely shatter the throwaway record this season and he has the 3rd most dropbacks with a time to throw of over 3 seconds. What is the cause of this? It's clear that these are related. I wasn't only blaming him, but this offense has been averaging only 25 PPG this season, which is mediocre in this era, so clearly he should be taking some of the blame. I also very clearly stated that his receivers have had trouble getting open. When a QB holds on to the ball for that long and is still throwing the ball away at such a high rate, it's obvious that the receivers aren't playing well.

I can list plenty of other stats about how poorly this offense is playing. They rank in the bottom half of the league in both 3rd down coversion and red zone efficiency, outlining their poor situational play.

The only thing they've done well is move the ball between the 20s. But that hasn't been translating into many points, given their lack of situational efficiency.

You can't beat NE in Foxboro when you have to settle for FGs instead of TDs.

still he comes back with what our WR's are doing when he clearly hasn't watched and has no clue as to what is behind those numbers.

So if Aaron Rodgers and his receiving core is so bad, where does that rate Tom Brady? Aaron Rodgers has played with a knee brace and hadn’t had a regular week of practice until this week. This is the comparison of our hobbled QB to your healthy QB. Take a long hard look in the mirror

QB#1
Yards Ave Yds TD-INT Rat% Sack
2280 8.0 326.1 13 -1 100.4% 22

QB#2
2200 7.5 275.0 16 -7 97.6%. 11

If your one sided metric should carry so much weight. What happened to you guys??
I highly recommend Brady start throwing all these INT away.

Just imagine IF the sack ratio drops OR
2. the braces come off OR
3. our largely young WR group gets some more seasoning and they settle in to their identity.

Now if you looked at just these stats..and didn’t know either QB previously, from an purely objective opinion and you knew QB #1 was playing with a brace since week 1 but that the brace might come off soon..
Which guy would you honestly hire?

Brady has been unimpressive this season with all those interceptions. Even this past Monday there were a couple more potential INT"s dropped by the Bills. If the Packers make the move of Tramon Williams to safety and Breeland fills in at corner, expect some turnovers from Brady.

I prefer Rodgers to throw the ball away instead of taking a sack or throwing an interception. You're fooling yourself that the Packers offense doesn't pose a threat for the Patriots defense based on that meaningless stat.

And still opponents have had huge troubles defending him as he's still the most efficient quarterback in NFL history by a decent margin.

What happened was that Hogan and Dorsett were our top 2 WRs through weeks 1-4, and Michel got off to a slow start. It's no surprise that once Edelman returned and we acquired Gordon, our offense started averaging 36 PPG.

Most efficient quarterback? By what metric?

I'm not seeing how opponents have had trouble defending him when you are only averaging 25 PPG and are 3-3-1. Seems to me like most of your opponents haven't had much trouble with your offense.

Anyone that does not respect Aaron Rodgers accomplishments AND/OR Tom Brady’s accomplishments has no business watching football. The rest of us, non-delusional fans, can enjoy watching a great matchup Sunday night. I think TB125xSB will get a harsh dose of humility when his coach leaves that team to flounder when he retires. Which I would not be surprised if it is much sooner than people believe.

Cannot wait for Sunday! I would love nothing more than a W, but judging by the fact the other teams in the division have only played us, a L does not take us out of contention by any means.

In all seriousness I think this could qualify as another “game of the week”
Once again GB has nearly every available resource available to activate and that’s a big +.

My only concern this week is that Safety spot changing and will that be offset by GB getting the best available talent on the field.

While our secondary is relatively young, there is no question they are already more opportunistic than the past several years.
We could possibly see Alexander, King, Jackson Breeland and Williams on the field simultaneously and that’s a big infusion of pure talent mixed with veteran experience on the field. I’m not sure that it’s an instant recipe for success, but it’s arguable a much better situation than we’ve seen in several years either way.
If we can get some moderate pressure on Brady like we did last week on Goff? it’ll be a long day for NE on Offense. Also NE doesn’t have a RB capable of putting up 200+all purpose like a Gurley or a Zeke.. so they are far from multi dimensional.
I would rather play NE on the road than replay LA on the road, and we played them toe to toe and should’ve beat them. I think we have a very legit chance at pulling off an upset this week to move above .500.
Let’s hope team NE is as cocky and assuming as their fans portray themselves. A win this week, in my calculation, goes a long ways toward another playoff run.

NE 27
