I'm still a bit surprised that the Packers didn't sign Nick Vogel or another "half capable" K to the PS when Crosby suffered his injuries. With COVID rules allowing expanded PS, it wouldn't cost much for the insurance of having a guy ready to go, just in case Crosby pulls up lame 5 days or less before a game. The 5 days being the required time for a new signing to go through COVID protocol before he can play.
JK has been doing an acceptable job on kickoffs. Probably think he can handle the job XP range+ if needed. Don't think he'll do 50+ yarders though. Never settle for a FG and always go for 2 after a TD. Never need to waste a roster spot and cap on a dedicated kicker again.

Luton threw for 300 years and 1 TD + rushed for 1 TD
James Robinson rushed for 99 yards and 1 TD
DJ Chark had a good last game and connected on deep pass from Luton.

Key will be to stop Robinson rush and they have dictated the play last few games for them.
If our secondary can handle Chark, then game will be ours.

I thought that with the expanded practice squad, they’d start the season with an extra kicker on the practice squad. Seemed to me a prudent insurance policy.

I thought the same and I remember looking at the beginning of the season and noticed maybe 8 or so teams carried a K on their PS, some even carrying an extra Punter. Again, given the change in rules due to COVID, I would rather rely on a Practice squad K that has practiced for several weeks with his holder and LS, than seeing JK Scott having to line up with 3 seconds to go to kick a 48 yard game winner that decides home field advantage.

There will always be a handful of "The sky is falling" dedicated killjoys in any fanbase....Can't worry about what they want. They believe if you're happy, you're wrong.

Winning football in the NFL is an accomplishment, no matter the score. Just win, baby.

Not to mention you look around the NFC and pretty much every other top team in it has serious flaws. Seattle's defense was bad this last game, and of course TB got a big huge beatdown. New Orleans obviously seemed to be the class of the league, but they've had plenty of challenges themselves.

Now, do I worry in the upcoming games or playoffs that our D or offensive line will doom us? Yes, kinda hoping we don't draw the Rams for those very reasons. But our chances of getting all the way to the SB at this point are still pretty much the same as any of those other teams.

It’s impossible to be worse than the lowly 6-2 Packers.

Not sure if you're just goofing around or not but the geniuses at ESPN have the Packers favored in every single remaining game this season.

AND the ESPN Power Rankings have the mighty Pack participating (and apparently losing to) Kansas City in the next Super Bowl.

Who knows, anything can happen.

Start out by pounding the crap out of the Jaguars.

I agree. MN has looked like a different team with Cook. I guess I don't want the guys to over look a team like this, that's all. Any team in this league can beat you on any given day.

It's true that every NFL team can beat another on any given Sunday but the Packers are significantly more talented than the Jaguars and should be able to take care of them as long as they perform up to potential.

Nah, they can pick up a cheap kicker off some local car lot that can make 8 of 10 from longer than 50 yards. It’s easyschmezy.

Actually the Jagaurs should work as evidence that it's not that hard to find a decent kicker. While Lambo has made eight of 10 field goals for them this season he has kicked in only four of eight games. In the other ones four different kickers have combined to make five out of six attempts.

Distances and stadiums and weather and circumstances have an effect on accuracy. You can't really (well, you can) take just raw stats on makes and misses.

For years I have provided numerous stats and facts that fully support Crosby being a below average kicker while others that believe there is no way to adequately replace him solely base it on their gut feeling.

I have to admit that I made a mistake regarding the Jaguars' kickers though as I posted their numbers on extra points.

The field goal percentage shows different results as Lambo has been perfect in five attempts while the four other kickers have combined to make only five of nine field goal tries.

Nobody thinks he cannot be adequately replaced. Only that it is taking a big chance.

I’d venture to say that cutting Crosby and replacing with a street free agent has about a 10% chance of resulting in a better kicker than Crosby.

5 of 9.... let that sink in

What is Crosby’s FG % this year? :whistling:

I’m not saying this just for Crosby, but all kickers. Often times misses have more to do with the snap, or the hold, than the kicker.

I have not gone back and tracked which of Crosby’s misses were impacted by those. I know without a doubt some of them have. I don’t think Capitan has tracked that either, which I don’t blame him for, it would be a ton of work.

What I’m trying to get at, is I don’t think you can have an absolute stance on this topic, using statistics the way they have been used here, without that knowledge. It’s just too incomplete.

I want to be positive about our chances, I really do, but I cannot. I do not know what kind of team we have anymore on defense, and until this team beats a team with a defense, its impossible to predict.

Yes, impossible to predict against a decent team but that isn't what we will be facing on Sunday. Unless we really play like garbage we will be 7-2 at the end of the day. The Colts next week in Indy will be a much better measuring stick.

A lot of posters around here act as if it's an impossible task to achieve.

You understand that it's an extremely small sample size compared to Crosby's career average, don't you???

add to that the highlight part: while the four other kickers have combined to make only five of nine field goal tries

How does THAT save you money?

The Jaguars Have Signed Their 6th Kicker Of The Season!!!

https://thespun.com/nfl/afc-south/jacksonville-jaguars/jacksonville-jaguars-sign-sixth-kicker-2020

The moves have resulted in a total of $350K of dead money. That's still significantly less than Crosby is making this season.

I expect the number of bad snaps or holds to pretty much even out for kickers with at least 100 career attempts.

You forgot to add in the $5.625 M cap hit they already have on the books for Josh Lambo. So about $6M on kickers this year and it appears that they are still looking for a kicker to replace Lambo who has been their kicker for the past 4 seasons and who they signed a four-year, $15.5 million contract with last year. This is Lambo's 2nd season where he was lost due to an injury.

BTW, their team FG % (not including Lambo) 55.5% and XP 83%

Crosby has yet to miss a game for the Packers in his....now 14th season with the Packers. Add that to the list of reasons why Crosby is worth the money they pay him. ;)

Though if it wasn't for Crosby; I would love to have Lambo kicking in Green Bay.
