Another thing we find, which I think PB has just covered there is some people love being the one who starts a thread, but doesn`t bother to check that there is already a thread going. Next thing we know there are four or five on the same subject, so we have to merge them.

Everyone thinks their thread is unique ... well a lot of people do. Some of it is laziness on the posters part like you said. If I were a moderator I probably wouldn't bother merging I'd just lock and delete the duplicate ones. I was nominated to be a moderator on another forum I frequent but I declined. I was flattered by the nomination but just didn't want the hassles. You guys do a good job as far as I am concerned.

Now where is my cookie.

I totally see your point. I was gonna start a "Jeff Janis for MVP" post... but I was scared of what the Mods might do to me!! ;)

That boat may have sailed my friend. Everyone seems to be jumping on the Geronimo Allison train since he has had a couple of good games.

Perhaps just a disclaimer and a warning at the top:

"Everything stated in this shoutbox is to be considered a user's own opinion, and not an official representation of this forum or any of its employees or other members. Actual mileage may vary. Price does not include tax, title, and license. Some assembly required. Each sold separately. Batteries not included. Objects in mirror are closer than they appear. If conditions persist or ******** lasts longer than 4 hrs, contact a physician. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Keep in a cool dark place. "

you forgot "do not taunt happy fun ball"

I like the way these mods handle things-They get involved in conversations instead of deleting a comment that they disagree with and label it "trolling" as I've experienced on other forums.

I understand what you mean, but "thriving" forums aren't always a great thing-I'm on a forum for another team, and that's full of immaturity and repetitive and redundant threads that the mods couldn't even hope to keep under control. If you give people reasonable guidelines for behavior, you're probably more likely to keep better company around.

Not repetitive AND redundant. That's just unacceptable.

I'm joking with you of course You can probably tell I'm feeling a bit plucky tonight.

Sorry, I don`t recall saying it was getting heated, or I was either. I tried to explain my take on it.
well... it seems your past no longer exists... but I was referencing the post by you... which used to be post # 20 in this thread....
"This issue was brought up about eighteen months ago actually, I can`t remember who the member was but they got quite heated with the mod. You will obviously disagree here and that's fair enough, but the attack was out of order and quite personal too. We are just following guidelines. I`m sorry if that doesn`t answer your question or comes across snippy, I don`t mean it to, but if you P.M. the mods, we might be able to answer better ?"

The Internet...where people can sit at a desk and act like a **** !!"
None of this really matters... but since you publicly asked what I was referencing.... I was quite confused when I could no longer find the Post..... fortunately it was still open on my iPad which had not been refreshed since its apparent deletion.

Thank you, although the Internet remark is actually part of my signature. I withdrew the comment because the other answered the question more directly.

A. Moderate it as normal, which is extremely difficult because of the speed.
B. Do away with it altogether
C. Give a subtitle to it kind of like the Adult Asylum stating that it will be loosely moderated and one uses it at their own risk, but within forum guidelines regarding things that are illegal.
If you're looking for votes, I'd say you should close the Shoutbox. I don't say that dismissively as someone who doesn't use it. When I thought about being in a mods shoes, it seemed like three hopeless scenarios:

A. Moderating an active chatbox is a lot of work
B. Easiest, allows you folks to enjoy the game instead of being in "work" mode
C. Seems like this one would eventually get out of hand and ugly. Maybe you go with it with the secret notion that if it does get out of hand, mods have the unilateral right to shut it down permanently.

One of my personal pet hates, and I hate it with a passion is some poor guy who comes on here with an opinion, usually a new member, and somebody tries to belittle him. He goes away and never has an opinion again, or is too bothered to ever say something for fear of being belittled. Drives me nuts. Thankfully it doesn`t happen these days, but it was one of the reasons I took the job.
Bill! You know this never happens! Maybe a little "Personal Attacks", but belittling? Never.

hey, I may have been post #14, but it was #13 that brought up prior years and #16 that took it to the NFCCG. I am innocent I tell you, innocent! I demand a redaction, or something.

Personally I like this forum very much. I have been to other forums where unless someone is blatantly abusive, anything goes. Call me old fashioned, but I don't appreciate swearing every other word to try to make a point. I like intelligent responses and staying pretty much on target.

*raises hand* ma'am, guilty as charged in the shoutbox....but I have toned it down with "OMG OMG OMG OMG" reactions which I think is more appropriate in gist...

LOL.....hey now.... I was #13!! LOL Don't blame me :D I was merely quoting LTF : "I went back to the Blake thread, and it took a turn with in 14? Posts.. Half way thru the 1st page and was derailed. "

But yeah.....your post #14 wasn't enough to derail it, just guiding it around a curve ;) So I "redact" any implication I may have made of your guilt in crashing the bus off the bridge!

Now you got me thinking of this classic Seinfeld moment:

See.....now YOU were the one who through us all off the curve! Was it 14 or 16? LOL

"Blue wire, red wire, cut one of them and hope for the best"

Who's fighting? LOL......I think we are all a bit tense over Sunday's game, so comic relief, for me, is my outlet for tension.

Fight is generic term.

Or count the posts for your self
