Let’s move on. I want to build the OL of the future. Lang will be 32 years old by the start of regular season and coming off IR with multiple injuries. The Lions cut him for a reason.
I’m 100% in favor of signing a veteran, but let’s pick one this side of 30 with a cleaner injury track record While there is not an OG crop in FA, there is a substantial level of the OG position coming into the draft with 7-8 guys alone being projected in the late day2-Early day 3 range. I think we need to capitalize on one there. Also Justin McCray was just tendered a few days ago.
In the event we go for Bulagas replacement this year both him or Spriggs are both talented enough to move inside. (That’s if we don’t continue to remain so stubborn to think that Spriggs is our long term answer at RT and continue this project while Aaron gets mauled)

No.

His body has begun to break down. It's unfortunate, but it's a fact of life in the NFL. His best playing days are likely behind him.

I'd move forward with younger, cheaper alternatives.

While I understand some peoples concerns about Bulaga and his availability for all 16+ games, I don't think you are going to find an equal replacement in the Free agent market, for the $6.6625 M he is set to make. When Bulaga is playing, he is still playing at a pretty high level.

Even using a high draft pick on a RT is going to leave all sorts of question marks. In my opinion, the Packers are going to have to carry Bulaga all the way to the final cut downs, which will cost them $872.5K. They should try to draft his eventual replacement with one of their first 4 picks and see where it all lands before the final 53 man cut.

I think Bulaga's level of play when healthy is going to be enough to keep him on the roster until his contract is up. Unless he just totally falls off or something, which I don't see from a guy like him yet. Like you said, we're not getting a better replacement for the cap savings, likely a guy that is worse, by quite a bit actually. I know not being available is tough, but he guts out a lot, but just being available isn't always better either.

It would be smarter to have Bulaga's eventual replacement playing inside this season.
Exactly. Keep Bulaga 1 more year and groom his replacement. Based on this mornings news we may get our wish. I’m more n more expecting an Offense heavy draft
