Ok that's yall opinion but you'll see dudes gonna have double digit sacks in 2018

And that's yall opinion but looking at the last few years I would bet more people would agree with our yall opinion than your yall opinion.

I hope you are right but the way its been I'll be happy to see double digit starts from him.

I understand your optimism and hope, I share it with you. Would love Clay to get back to where he was in 2012, but I don't expect it.

So all homerism aside, if you are talking about sacks, Matthews was tied for 36th in the NFL last year.

2016: 58th in NFL
2015: 39th
2014: 12th
2013: 40th
2012: 5th

True but also remember that he was playing for a antiquated defensive coordinator and he only played 14 games

Ok and I just looked at that list and it's complete Bs. They're are plenty of dudes on that list that you'd way rather have clay Matthews then. Seriously Robert Quinn, Carlos Dunlap, and Shane Ray yeah right haha and I bet if I looked at the rest of the list I'd find 15 more that aren't as good as clay
Only thing about clay that puts him at the top of any list anymore is his salary.

I 100% hope you are back here after the Packers win the Super Bowl, Clay wins MVP and Defensive player of the year....handing out plates of crow to all of us. I will gladly eat mine with a side of Cobb Salad.

All yall that hate on Matthews are crazy dude is a very good player. Yes the hamstring every year is annoying but cm3 is an elite player in the NFL. There just aren't guys that can do what he can growing on trees. List the edge rushers that are better then him, it's not many?

My opinion...

Clearly better edge rushers:
  1. Von Miller, DEN
  2. Khalil Mack, OAK
  3. Joey Bosa, LAC
  4. Melvin Ingram, LAC
  5. Calais Campbell, JAC
  6. Cameron Jordan, NO
  7. Chandler Jones, ARI
  8. Brandon Graham, PHI
  9. Demarcus Lawrence, DAL
  10. Yannick Ngakoue, JAC
  11. Jadeveon Clowney, HOU
  12. Olivier Vernon, NYG
  13. Everson Griffen, MIN
  14. Danielle Hunter, MIN
  15. Justin Houston, KC
  16. Ryan Kerrigan, WAS
  17. Cam Wake, MIA
In the conversation...
  1. Frank Clark, SEA
  2. Whitney Mercilus, HOU
  3. Derrick Morgan, TEN
  4. Brian Orakpo, TEN
  5. Jason Pierre-Paul, TB
  6. Vic Beasley, ATL
  7. Julius Peppers, CAR
  8. Jerry Hughes, BUF
  9. Robert Quinn, MIA
  10. Michael Bennett, PHI
  11. Preston Smith, WAS
  12. Terrell Suggs, BAL
  13. Carlos Dunlap, CIN
  14. Myles Garrett, CLE
  15. T.J. Watt, PIT
  16. Ziggy Ansah, DET
Matthews is still a very useful NFL player and starter-caliber. He is very valuable to the Packers given the alternatives. But he's no longer a special pass rusher.

To trade for Mack, the Packers have to get the Raiders to rework his contract, if they don't, you just bought yourself a one year player for a steep price and a guy who is currently refusing to suit up for that one year price of $13+M. So after that contract is done, the Packers are going to have to come up with enough cap to pay Mack around $24M/year. Depending on how the deal is worked, I doubt the Packers can cover 2018 without trading/cutting Matthews or Cobb. Not sure why Cobb's name is in the conversation, unless people really want to be down to one WR with starting experience, Adams. Matthews is about the only guy that makes sense, gain one OLB, lose another.
When you have AR throwing the ball, most WRs are licking their chops. Cobb is expendable.

While there is some truth to that, even the great AR has struggled at points when he is without his top WR's. No way do I want to start a season that way, because you know injuries will make that situation even worse. Now maybe one of the rookies will eventually make Cobb expendable, but I wouldn't want to start the season with that having to be the case.

I just don't see the Raiders taking on Matthews' $11 million salary as a replacement OLB. Matthews isn't in the same league as Khalil Mack, is old and injury prone. It would be a waste of cap space for them IMO.

You might be right about it but with Cooper, Nelson and Bryant on the roster I don't believe the Raiders would be interested in acquiring Cobb with him counting $9.1 million towards their cap.

Matthews not being able to stay healthy is part of the problem.

Who do you have lining up in the slot with Cobb being gone???

I don’t think the Raiders would want Cobb and I don’t think the Packers would want to move him. So I’m not saying that. But I think the answer to your question about the slot is Jimmy Graham.

Anybody. It doesn't matter who because we got Aaron freaking Rodgers and he will make him an all pro. You know, like he did with Janis and Abredaris and Johnson and Dorsey and Chastain West and Jeff Morturi, Dale Moss , Marcus Rivers, Tori Gurley, Myles White, Javess Blue. Ricky Collins, Adrian Coxson, Jimmy Hunt, Larry Pinkard, Kerry Taylor. Don't recognize all those names. They were all WRs that AR failed to turn into anything much less a productive player.

Still, we don't need good WRs because we got #12... the WR maker.

Well said, not even the great Aaron Rodgers can turn grapes into wine and the Packers have had their share of sour grapes roll through over Aaron's time. Can Aaron get more out of a good player? Sure. However, we have seen many times where starters are down and #12 and the passing game struggles. Rodgers is a great QB, but it takes chemistry and capable guys on the other end for him to be able to work his magic.

Side note, I thought I knew all the names of the WR's that have been in Green Bay over the years and you listed guys that I didn't even recognize! lol

All of them listed after Dorsey were undrafted free agents. Kind of sneaky I know but we always talk about the Packers day 3 misses, and there were a lot of them, and I figured these guys fall into the same category. I left off anyone drafted or signed in the last 2 years and anyone signed in Rodgers first 3 years as he was not he man throwing them the ball.

Graham will definitely line up in the slot a lot but being a different type of receiver wouldn't completely make up for the loss of Cobb.

At this point, I think Montgomery is the most likely replacement for Cobb short term. Not sure the staff would feel any of the new guys are ready for that role.

The coaching staff has been pretty clear about Montgomery being a running back.
