Remaining free agents who interest me:
  • Bashaud Breeland, CB: Would obviously be a steal if they could land him late in the process due to the foot injury.
  • Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB: I don't know if he's something of a lockerroom headache based on how things went in NY, but if not I prefer him to House.
  • Mike Person, OL: 30 years old and experiences at multiple positions; quality depth.
  • Robert Ayers, EDGE: While not a sack artist, Ayers produces quite a bit of pressure on the QB and would provide a power element at OLB that the team hasn't had since losing Peppers and Jones.
  • Xavier Su'a-Filo, G: Purely a flier for training camp. XSF is hyper-talented but has never delivered. I want to see what he does under Campen.
  • Korey Toomer, ILB: Toomer would give the Packers an option at WILL linebacker that I don't currently see anywhere on the roster.
  • Levine Toillolo, TE: The Packers will need to find a TE who can block at some point.

Good list, I would add Jordan Matthews to it. I don't want to go into the draft "needing" a WR and right now, Allison would be our #3. Not sure if GMO is ready.

I would guess we are probably out on any Edge player remaining that is going to make any difference for us. Falcons seem pretty interested in Ayers anyway. Would also guess that the only TE we would bring in would be Rodgers back at this point. Knows the system, has a good feel with ARod. Makes sense as depth at TE and will likely be cheap.

The TE draft class is relatively solid. No sure things, but some great potential in the mid rounds. I could see the Packers using a 3rd or 4th rounder to find a guy they can groom for when Kendricks is done (2019) and eventually to take over for Graham (2021).

Past the top 4 the talent drops quite a bit but I am not too worried about our TE position at this point. We don't really ultimately use the position as effectively as most teams. Then again it is tough to say when we haven't had much consistency there besides Rodgers up to this point.

Personally, I am really only interested in Breeland at this point. You think we could inspect his foot medically and know if he is going to get better or not. Maybe Carolina thinks the injury will affect his level of play.

I hope Gute got this list to Aaron for approval already. Not sure what is holding things up.

Packerwire article makes it sound like we are resigning House. Makes me think we will not go after any other CBs

Mike Person is mah boi! Always wanted him in green and gold.

I would pick up an inline TE in this draft, but this TE class kinda sucks.

Still think we sign a safety.

Boston,Reid, or Vaccaro could probably be had for 4ish mil/year based on other contracts.

Burnett only ended up getting 3/14.3

TE takes so long to develop that I'd rather them sign a blocker cheap and draft a pass catcher to develop and replace Graham.

Posting it here, because the Marty B thread was shut down.....

Looks like he is hanging up the cleats. One year too late in my book.

I cannot speak to whether or not a contract was offered during the visit today. But, it would appear Jordan Matthews left without signing a contract.

So did Mo Wilkerson and we got him back :)

Guessing Matthews, who is now one of the top remaining FA WR's, is seeing who is going to show him the money.

Trade our 1st for Peterson, cut Cobb and sign Matthews to replace him. Trade 4th for Martavis Bryant. Sign breeland. Get best pass rusher with 2nd round pick, get Oline depth/ bulaga replacement with 3rd rounder, strict bpa after that. Super Bowl :p

That would be extremely disappointing.

There are several intriguing receiving tight ends available in this year's class. If the Packers want to add a decent blocker they won't find one in the draft though.

I highly doubt the Packers will sign a veteran safety. It seems they plan on Josh Jones starting next season.

Once again, there are any indications the Cardinals are interested in trading Peterson.

I mean, Goedert will probably be the best, but there's question marks there too. Andrews is fine, nothing special. I got on the Gesicki train after his combine, but his tape doesn't show his athleticism at all. I'm not sold on him. There's some guys, but it's a weak class overall.

There are quite a few good in-line blockers in the draft. Durham Smythe, Dalton Schultz, Will Dissly, those guys are all really good blockers. Not sure why you're saying there are no decent ones. That's very false.

They're not there already? Their mother must be so proud. (As an aside positive to this post, I just noticed that I used they're/their/there in the space of ten words and will take the rest of the day off from my mental "no-no-no!" exercises in reading sports forums :))

There their now.....you know that nobody picks on spelling, typos, illogical thinking, brain farts or low pad position. I would suggest using smell checker, it may not correct your mistakes, but it will leave you smelling well.

Remember that time that Michael made up a total fabrication to smear a police officer as a horrible racist when the guy was just doing his job and handling an active shooter situation. Man of the year!
