"the devil went down to Oregon" is a cool name for a beer ;)
The right one is from Germany, isnt it? Did you bring it with you after your last trip?

All of Ninkasi's beers are awesome. Great Oregon brewery, and yes, it's a great name.

The beer on the right is a Bamberg bier, but they distribute to the USA and I buy it in Las Vegas. It's a RauchBraurei. All smoked beers.

Poachers Choice is a great name. I like the top label... "Beer with a rich and fruity plumage".

Innis & Gunn... I'm not real impressed with their beers, but I'm also not a big fan of barrel-aged beers.

Fuller's Wild River Double hopped Pale Ale.... I NEED TO TRY THAT!

This answers requires some history because the Vienna-style Lager is somewhat rare in continental Europe.

The classic Vienna-style lager is an amber (colored) Lager which uses pils malt and Vienna malt. Vienna malt is a toasted malt, giving it a slight "burnt bread" flavor depending on how long the malt was toasted. In the late 19th century, Austrian brewers migrated to Mexico, and they kept the Vienna-style lager alive, which is what Dos Equis Amber and Negra Modelo are.

American examples of Vienna-style lager are Yuengling Lager (a favorite of @Croak), Sam Adams Boston Lager, and Great Lakes Elliot Ness Lager.

In Vienna today, the style is not brewed much, however, there are more breweries in Germany who have kept the style alive in continental Europe.

---------------------------------------------

Now to the current Austrian brewing. Yes, you are correct, Austria brews a lot of German style beer.... Pils, Weizen, Helles, Bock, Dark Lager. Some of the Austrian brewers have recently branched out and are brewing American-style beers as well, like pale ale, IPA, American-style Barleywines.... etc.

Beers, I have a unmitigated hatred for:

Heineken
Budweiser

My taste buds aren't that refined. I can't tell if a beer is hoppy, malty, wheaty or whatever. I just know what I think tastes good and go with it. I wish I could tell the difference. When I am drinking a beer, I can't pick out things like "burnt bread" etc, unless it is a citrus flavor. Then I notice.

These guys all know that Guinness is my favorite. When my wife tried to serve beer to the old folks at the retirement home they said; "Don't give us any of that "Mexican sh*t", referring to Corona. :roflmao:

Corona is kinda mood beer. When you are having a party or going out with mates, Corona is a no no. For lazing around on a sunday afternoon it is heavenly.

I went and bought one last night. It actually was better than I remember. But I am still not a huge fan of barrel aged beers.

Haha... I say I like Stella, but its just ok. If it's the best beer in a particular bar, it's not a good bar... haha.

I can`t drink lagers without lime juice added. I`m strictly a craft beer man these days.
