Rollins Neck , FA CBs and big DBs merged

Now with the injuries to Randall, Rollins, Dorleant, we had guys like Burnett, Hyde and Gunter down playing DB and CB in the dime. I even seen #47 Ryan on the bottom of the screen covering a TE once. It looked desperate...
Funny thing was. That was when we stopped them. The dagger was Hyde picking it off in physical coverage... Forget inexperience. Forget the prototype CB, or what we would rather have... The big physical Dbacks were disruptive and got the job done...
I say we use this to our advantage rather than desperately grasp on to old ways, playing with guys who aren't healthy...

Unfortunately I highly doubt that patchwork secondary would work as well in the playoffs.

And yet since 2005 they have won the same amount of Super Bowls as us. I don't get it. What do they do so much better in that time frame.

Well, the Patriots have played in another two Super Bowls and four conference championship games over that period while the Packers only played in an additional two NFCCG over the last 11 seasons. In addition I don´t think it makes any sense to ignore the three Super Bowls New England won before 2005.

I think what we saw was a definite un-scouted look and can work for a short while because it catches people by surprise a bit. Give them a week or 2 to see tendencies and find the weaknesses, as i'm sure there are weaknesses having that many guys play different positions, and suddenly it doesn't look as good anymore.

There´s no doubt Adams has been inconsistent at times but it´s mind-boggling that you don´t agree that he performed on a decent level this season.

He has performed decent his season. Soooooo...

I don´t believe Clinton-Dix deserved to be named to the Pro Bowl but he´s an above average safety.

Teams list sick players on the injury report.

I didn´t watch any Chargers games this season but PFF ranked Hayward as the seventh best cornerback this year.

What! Chris Harris is a very physical corner just like Joe Hayden 5'10" 195lbs physical also. Its more to playing corner in the (NFL) then just having ball skillz lol. Dont forget im saying top corners, Can get off blocks to make tackles, they come up on screen plays they reroute receivers etc and they all dont have to be 6'2" 6'3" 215 lbs. If you dont think physicality isnt all that important then sir your looking at the nfl as flag football. The starting corners on our team right now lack physicality and that's why they are always chasing and hardly ever in the right position to get picks or making tackles. BTW sunshine who is your top 5 corners in the league right now?

I never said ball skills were the ONLY thing a corner needs, I said that I think all corners NEED ball skills; that's like claiming that when I say all corners need legs you think i meant that anyone with legs can play corner. And you obviously didn't understand what I wrote. I said that EVERY PLAYER IN THE NFL IS PHYSICAL. "Physicality" is pointless if the player isn't any good. Ahmad Carroll was really physical. The Eagles were so excited about Byron Maxwell's "physical" play that they traded him after one season.

Top 5 corners: Chris Harris, Patrick Peterson, Aqib Talib, Malcolm Butler and Cromartie.

True.... but he played in the game... so unless they listed him as probable he was most likely not on it.

The NFL dropped the probable designation for the injury report before the start of this season.

If memory serves was it not Sam Shields who blossomed in the playoffs starting with the Eagles game? He was much like Gunter in that he was an UDFA from The U and had an issue causing teams to stay away. He was really fast but small whereas LG is slow but has great length. Shields played in 14 of 16 games that season and was up and down as one might expect. The playoffs is where he made his name and in a big way. My point is Rollins does have plenty of skill but he's raw and has had an up and down career up to this point. Whether or not he plays any one of our youngsters could blossom this postseason and become household names. It happens every year. I am not saying with certainty one of guys will blow up but I am saying I wouldn't rule out the possibility. If this team is to fulfill it's full potential we will need some guys in the back-end to elevate their level of play and maintain it throughout this upcoming run...and a run IS a comin'!!!

Shields performed on a way higher level during the 2010 regular season than any of the Packers young cornerbacks this year though.

Im definitely aware of the levels of physicality in the league and im not saying that's all that matters either in a corner. So this quote I agree with you. I guess my 2 yr old is physical to a certain degree. (EVERY PLAYER IN THE NFL DONT BELONG IN THE NFL EITHER).

I have no idea what that has to do with my post you replied to.
my guess.... not being the number 1 guy ....he wasn't being asked to cover the other team's best receiver during the season.... I have no recollection of the truth in that matter, but it is my guess as to how it's supposed to be read.

Hopefully this Waters cat can make plays on the ball, and not be a liability. He's got some jets, and some nice ball skills. I haven't seen a corner able to run with the faster WRs in Green Bay since Shields went down. I expect to see a lot of zone with safety help shaded to OBJ Sunday. I'm sure Capers doesn't want to make this game a track meet as all three Giants top WRs can get deep on you. If we needed the pass rush to get it going this is the game. Hopefully Matthews doesn't no show this game.

What did the Giants passing game do to us the first time we played them that frightens you so badly?

I'm worried about the Giants improved rushing attack which could result in the Packers not being able to play the same defensive scheme as in week 5 making it way tougher to contain their receivers.

Exactly what I said. Play action also comes into play with this as well. Safeties have to stay honest..lbs have to stay honest. Can't just read pass.

PFF ranked Randall 117th and Rollins 81st out of 120 qualifying cornerbacks this season. There´s absolutely no doubt both have struggled mightily and the Packers need to address the position next offseason. The defense didn´t play better when both of them missed several games because of injury though.

That doesn't exactly inspire confidence, Cap.

Man we played them in October. Different team. No run game...now they have one. There you go.
Last 5 they are about 108 per game..

1st 5 games they were 83 per game.

Not that huge of a difference... Just not sure of rushing att for those games..

Might have more last 5?
